It's a job
HCA/Support Worker (Former Employee) - Heywood, Greater Manchester - 25 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorked with the company for just over a year, you get out what you put in. Rates of pay vary depending on what area you work, which isn't ideal, the company should be able to top up wages so everyone is paid the same once fully competent. They throw money at you to work extra hours when they're desperate so why not just pay a good wage then people will want to work more. Don't get paid for training, which is frustrating there are are plenty of other agencies that will pay for you to train.

Deceitful Management
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Burton-On-Trent - 18 September 2023
The Manager and Deputy manager promise you the world as you go through the recruitment process. It is only as you are about to start your training you are told it is unpaid and if you miss a session or leave the company within 4 months you will have to pay. If you manage to make it through the training you are then informed the hours you were promised are not available, but don't worry because they have hours available on another package 50 miles away.

Insights into Apollo Home Healthcare
What people like
- Ability to learn new things
- Time and location flexibility
- Clear sense of purpose
They don’t care about their staff
HCA (Former Employee) - Nottingham City Centre, Nottinghamshire - 14 September 2023
For my experience has been a horrible company to work for. Management is horrible not very well organised. Staff is not offered suitable uniform, they don’t pay you well as they should. Consultants only nice to you when it suits then some are ignorant.
Cons
Not a good company overall

Productive and fun workplace
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Bishop Auckland, Durham - 2 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Developing clinical skills while supporting clients What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Proximity. Most service users houses are quite far. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Working at client's houses, create a relationship with family. Therefore, both healthcare Assistants and family work together to give the best to the service users. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Well, Apollo Home Healthcare is based on complex care. This requires a healthcare assistant who has a call and genuine compassion for service users. To me, I love complex care and I find everyday enjoyable.

Poor staff management
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Wolverhampton, West Midlands - 8 July 2023
I have been working with this company (Wolverhampton) for almost two years. They literally want your blood with no appreciation for staff members. I worked the whole of last year with no leave till the end of the year. When I finally took leave, they gave me part of my holiday pay and said the rest had expired. Knowing very well staff members do not have direct access to view their holiday pay like other agencies. This year I have worked six months straight with no leave. When I finally asked for leave, they claimed my leave could not be approved with SILLY excuses. They contradicted themselves so many times. I am disappointed that staff members will be treated like that. With no regard for my mental health they will prefer that I work 12 months straight with not leave once again. The consultant who dealt with my package had left, and we had not been informed. This is a bad admin on the part of Apollo, and they are trying to blame me for trying to contact the consultant. Not informing staff members about the change of consultant is dangerous as staff members could give away any information about patients requested to this consultant who no longer works there. This will put a patient at risk.

Lovely place to work. Salary needs looking into though
Health Care Assistant (HCA) (Current Employee) - Solihull - 23 May 2023
Since working for Apollo I've been very happy. Really like that you can get to know who you are working for, rather than just a quick 20mins in and out care. I'm with the same service user for 12hours. If I need to swap a shift Apollo will always try and do this. My only concern is the salary is very low for some service users, and needs looking at in more depth.
Pros
Shifts to suit you
Cons
Salary

Honest review of a current HCA
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 20 May 2023
I can’t not believe some of the negative reviews on here, I have worked with people who have left because they have not been happy that they have had to work a weekend or have been pulled up by management because of lateness, they leave & write bad review. Whilst there are some things the office need to work on, they try their best in such a demanding sector. Some clients & staff are rude for no reason & management deal with them so well & with good communication. I can not recommend Apollo enough. The consultants are supportive and management in the office are always their to support, I receive thank you emails from the manager which I think is great, it’s not often you here from managers. Please do not let the negative comments fool you!
Pros
Working with amazing clients
Cons
Someone’s long days

Jobs at Apollo Home Healthcare
High pressured environment, bullying office staff
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - West Midlands - 16 May 2023
Unprofessional office staff. Rude, ignorant and threaten to send service users to hospital if you don't drop everything to cover a shift for them! No pay for training. Offer incentives for last minute shift cover but then don't pay the staff those incentives. Avoid at all costs!

Easy work
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 12 May 2023
If your looking for a job that is not physically draining then this is a good job ( u may need to use some physical strength for moving clients ) but overall really supportive staff members at the office and very understanding, also you will need some mental strength as at time due to the 12 hr shifts it can be mentally draining at time but depending on how you are as a person , can make a really healthy income if you work full-time
Pros
Lots of free time
Cons
Long hours

Feel content and happy with Apollo
Health Care Support Worker (Current Employee) - Heywood - 17 March 2023
It’s been over 20 months since working for Apollo in Heywood based. I’ve always worked local unless I choose to go outer town. My clients are fantastic and enjoy taking care of. It’s not a normal care work one would do, more complex, such as changing tracheotomy, day to day care of tracheotomy and changing of Trache Tapes routine, involves suctioning Tracheotomy’s which most new starters find scary but it isn’t really. I’d like to point out to new starters when you first see all the machines and wires, it is daunting at first but once your training is done. It’s so much easier so please don’t get put off when you go for meet and greet. basic care of changing pads, wash and dress. medication, Cough Assist, Bipap, once you get to know your clients routine you would find it much much easier to manage your package. Staff at the office are fantastic, always on hand when needed. Duty of care to staff which I do like about Apollo. The colleagues I work with are also fantastic, don’t have an issue at all. The job is flexible too. choose your availability. One thing is you do get attached to your clients, that’s normal as you’ve working with them. We as Healthcare Assistants, support workers have our laugh too with our clients, and of course with Office staff too. within limit shall i say.. Anyone know me i’m just outspoken and straight forward thinking. Hope this helps whom thinking of joining Apollo.
Pros
flexible, weekly pay

Pays well, jobs awful
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - West Midlands - 1 March 2023
Couldn’t choose my service worker. It started off nice. However, quickly changed! It’s awful. Work load is insane. Hardly ever get to eat my lunch. Constantly changing expectations & tasks. Only there until I find something new.
