Shocking people to work for.
Assistant Examiner (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 17 December 2022
Very very poor management. Really don't care about employees. Definitely a if you don't like it walk we'll just get somebody else culture. Wall to wall incompetence and those in charge taking non of the blame. Ineffective complaints/whistleblowing policy. Load of error in payments.
Pros
Flexible working
Cons
Lots of tasks expected to be done unpaid.

Temporary Administrator (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 14 December 2022
The work is not too hard and pretty straightforward, but everyone is really friendly and willing to help out when you have any questions. Management are easy to approach as well if you need extra support. Pay is really reasonable and overtime is paid fairly.

Very nice place to work
Customer Service Adviser (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 13 November 2022
It’s very diverse which is a good look. Colleagues were always helpful and nice to be around. During peak periods i.e. during summer exams, it’s going into the office and working next to everyone that makes it a lot easier.
Pros
Healthy environment, good pay
Cons
With seasonal contracts you may not find out if they’ll extend you until the very end

Terrible
Not applicable (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 27 October 2022
Management are the worst. Most people don’t work, particularly those who have been there a while, so you’re doing all of their work. Bad pay. Will make promises and then go back on them. Management look to tell you off rather than consider what they’ve done wrong (e.g. 0 training).

Boring but well paid
Data Entry (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes - 22 August 2022
The job at Wymbush is very boring and long but it has fun and supportive people there as colleagues and their pay is really good for an easy job like this. Good job for the summer if you’re serious. Also a prayer room for Muslims.
Pros
Prayer rooms, long enough breaks, good salary
Cons
Managers can be annoying, stet time

Relaxed and considerate workplace
media support worker (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 11 July 2022
Working in media, production and logistics; light work load, great facilities and resources available. With my role, I work 3 days in office and 2 days at home in a typical week
Pros
Free tea/coffee supplies and boiling water taps
Cons
Boring

Poor
Preparation Administrator (Former Employee) - Manchester - 26 June 2022
Very bland office environment. Extremely tedious, repetitive work. (Limited variation of tasks). No learning of new skills. Poor internal network, constantly crashing. Very dire laptops are provided to work from home with, which makes the tasks twice as long.
Pros
Free tea and coffee when in the office.

Interesting and a great experience
AQA Examiner A Level Art and Design (Former Employee) - Gravesend - 4 June 2022
Really good organisation to work for. Training is thorough and well organised and I always feel valued by AQA. I enjoyed the experince of going to a range of very different centres. Paperwork is clear and the online portal has all the help and guidance you might need.

Jobs at AQA
I worked here over several summers. Gained lots of office/admin experience and enjoyed the work culture.
Temporary Contract (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 25 January 2022
How enjoyable the work is depends on which department you are placed in. You might be placed in the basement counting scripts or in an office doing data entry. I really enjoyed the culture of AQA and felt management were always fair and approachable.

A collaborative workplace with good work-life balance and sociable colleagues. There are lots of opportunities for overtime and to work across different teams.

Positive workplace but FTCs are the norm
Assessment Production Coordinator (Former Employee) - Guildford - 5 December 2021
AQA is a fantastic place to work. There’s not much competition between coworkers and all the work is a collaboration. Additional learning and opportunities are encouraged - I joined various working groups and learning/growth opportunities which were actively encouraged. Company culture is currently being positively worked on - trying to move from a negative culture (though it’s generally the people who have been there for years and have forgotten how great a place to work AQA is) to a more positive working environment. Mental health is also a big priority.
Pros
Mental health first aiders, work-life balance, company culture, more than stat holidays, learning opportunities
Cons
Hard to get a permanent contract, inconsistent management levels

Toxic Environment
Logistics (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 12 June 2020
Work was repetitive, I progressed in terms of workload but the people there are incredibly toxic. There was little in terms of permanent work and upper management were dreadful. They allowed bullying behaviour and sweeped things that need to be talked about under the rug.
I did enjoy the workload mostly and I enjoyed the spirituality room and they have onsite canteen.
Pros
Easy to understand work

Cliquey and Silo-Stupid
IT Support (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 2 June 2020
AQA has become a robotic, lacking in personalities, micro-middle-managing bolt-hole for the lumpen-minded, that claims charity status, while all the while acting like it thinks it’s a Fortune 500 company. The only actual similarity though, is the fact that the psychopaths that manage it appoint fellow psychopaths beneath them. Other than that, it’s merely a ramshackle cottage-industry, that hangs on by its teeth every exam series, making huge mistakes, and then hiding them from OffCom. Fear fuels everything.

Interesting work, keen eye for detail needed
Internet researcher (Current Employee) - Home Based - 20 May 2020
AQA involves responding to customer's questions or concerns in an empathetic, informative and light-hearted manner. The number of characters permitted to use is restricted so answers must be concise and grammatically perfect.
It is enjoyable work but payment is made per question answered. Therefore, the salary depends on how many questions are sent in, which isn't many at the moment!

Working for AQA is both collaborative and inclusive, meetings are reassuring and colleagues are supportive. You are never left to struggle on your own.

HR Temp - Fantastic company to work for !
Human Resources Assistant (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 12 March 2020
I currently worked in the Human Resources department as a Temporary Worker. Its a fantastic team and everyone is very supportive. The senior management team have a great outlook and vision for the team. Communication is very important within HR and this can be clearly seen everyday. We have regular meetings as well so that we are kept in the loop of things.
Pros
Great canteen, lovely & supportive colleagues, fun place to work, very business focussed
Cons
a higher salary would be ideal but l know as a temp this is what you are paid

The team i worked with was great for a first temporary job - everyone as friendly and outgoing. Management was alright - despite some of the team leaders being very untactful.
