Arcus FM selected this as a representative reviewI joined Arcus in 2020 as a Scheduler and have progressed to my current role of Workforce Scheduling Controller. My job is demanding at times and the environment is fast paced, but I really enjoy what I do, and I feel my contribution is valued. I have KPI's to achieve each month, but they are achievable. I work with some really great people and made some good friends and I have found everyone to be really helpful and supportive. When I joined I didn't have any previous Scheduling experience, but the training I received was really good and prepared me for the job. My manager is also very supportive and this has enabled me to develop and progress. I feel very happy and secure at Arcus, as they are growing all the time and with the hours that I work, I have balance. With my new role I also got a good pay rise and we get a bonus each year. There are lots of positive changes happening in my department at the moment and new opportunities and I am really excited. Management are approachable, supportive and very focussed on performance, but if I have any suggestions on better ways to do something they are open to this. I would recommend Arcus to anyone.

What is the best part of working at the company? Training opportunities are very good, if you need any training and it's relevant to both you and the company, then they would normally approve it. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They have too many different contracts now, and no more labour to be able to cope with it, very long working days and not very good organisational skills. Communication is very poor. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very stressful and always being chased by management and office staff as to when jobs are going to be completed or attended, just not enough engineers to do so many different contracts. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Normally a very long day, starting early in the morning to try to finish a little earlier, but hardly ever the case , as so many jobs to do that you just end up doing 11 hours plus days.

The worse company I've ever worked for
What is the best part of working at the company? Nothing at all. Punch of cheats What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Bad pay terrible hours no progression no recognition

The workers try hard but no motivation as pay is terrible expect miracles with little staff expected to do jobs that 3 or 4 people should do by yourself no training or guidence a lot of foreign workers so communication can be difficult as they don’t understand English

Not a good place to work
Refrigeration Engineer (Current Employee) - Berkshire - 22 October 2023
No progression at all , no support when on call , a lot of cowboys in the field as refrigeration engineers , very political and mismanaged also due to the lack of budget a lot of issues like part purchasing and increasing salaries hence they have a very good client but can’t handle it well

Great line management

I have great team of line managers that support me, i feel that I can go to them with any issues and concerns and they will be dealt with. Recruitment is difficult which can lay pressure onto the team but we manage, and if help is needed onsite there's no hesitation in getting that supplied.

Up hill struggle every day

Working there is good when management likes you. As soon as something is not right you are the worst. No support and no help in anything. Hardly any training was given. . Head office doing nothing to support in any way. HR absolutely useless. Should not be even called HR . They have no clue how to work with people

manager was inept always working from home? too much work and not enough staff , taking on contracts they cant fullfil expect you to work all hour god sends mostly at night then expect you to be in work in the morning, money was ok but expected to work long days, and nights lasted 3 weeks before i left

Its really cool to work in Arcus FM, they give room for self confidence and working independently with less supervision.

A typical day at work allows one to work independently with all necessary and readily available tools and equipment that will facilitate your smooth working experience. I have learnt to build self confidence in carry out task without the fear of being boss around like a novice. I left the company in January 2022 because of a dispute with an operations manager. A side from this Arcus remains a top company to work for. Its a company that will support you throughout your journey. It is a real forward thinking company that care about their employees, they understand & promote work/life balance. Top of the range uniform, PPE, fleet and tools are provided.

What is the best part of working at the company? Driving, as where I live I had to travel far to my jobs and the scenery is just beautiful. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having a bad manager, who told me on our first meet theat he is never wrong. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The company is good for training, as I went on a few courses. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I'd mainly start at 6am to get to my job for 9am. Then I'd do my routine checks, have a chat with the staff and managers to see if everything was ok in the store.

The company were very good during lockdown, with vouchers to spend given out monthly, but some managers seem incapable of doing the job ( are they moonlighting and doing other jobs ) asking for holidays is a nightmare. Holiday forms are ignored and you have to continually remind them that you are going away. Have to give a month's notice for a holiday but am expected to go in for a meeting a day or so before I've sent 4 emails to HR, and never had a reply. Rang up and waited 1 HOUR and 42 MINUTES, no one answered , tried several times same thing. I am epileptic and none of this does my mental health any good, a trigger for my anxiety, I don't mind the job it Could be so nice but just a total lack of any forward planning and respect. I'm not one for doing doing things like this but perhaps someone will read it and take action. If the company can't fulfil the contract they shouldn't have put in to do it

I was a cleaning manager for two years for arcus FM Never had enough chemical .when they had really bad cleaners they never done anything about it even when they had proof ,just let you get on with it .when you had to cover due to absence you only got paid cleaners rates ? Managers rates which is it a extra pound a hour lot of stress very poor management never give you enough support ,only support I had was the actual Sainsbury's manger when I had issues ,!!! Never work for them your better off getting a cleaning round slot mote money

Extremely fast paced work

Nice people if your able to do your job, work load can be extremely high, upminster building is very old and run down whilst redditch offices are newer and things are run better there. IT department in Upminster are managed from Redditch. I dont feel like work is appreciated in upminster as the work is only recognised and praised if you work in redditch as nobody actually can see what work you do in upminster, its like a never ending conveyor belt of staff, people leave all the time.
