I was with Arla Foods for a long time, it is like a family, you get continual support from all the colleagues around you. The have open communication, you can approach anyone with a question, no door is ever close.
Just a great friendly place to work
There can be some issues around shift patterns with some people.
Spent more than 11 years as a warehouse operative and QEHS FACILITATOR, probably the best company i worked for, excellent people management and business focus. Highly recommended
Different shifts patterns to suit every staff, fantastic wage, excellent top management
Due to cost they’ve stopped staff progress or training
If you are a newly passed driver or a semi- retired driver then a good place to work. But if not then i would not recommend working for arla foods in particular if you are not from either Romania or Poland. The transport office staff have not got a clue. Its a case of always passing the buck when a driver asked them anything like parking, health& safety, truck defects etc. And a word to any new driver is watch your back at all times. The transport management can not be trusted at all. Get everything in writing and photocopied. Other than that you will love it. .
cheap dairy products, Good first job if a new driver to learn at
transport office managers, staff
due to the 3 months probation, a lot employee are interviewed by numerous agencies, pay and hours of work differs with the different agencies. After the 3 months probation period most employee from less favourable agencies seem to be made redundant as there seem to be a correlation of people being let go to the agency that acquired them.
nice working environment and on site canteen with adequate provision
due to the location of the warehouse, there are no public transport after 6, so driving might be essential although some agency provide lifts
Spent roughly a year at Oakthorpe. Senior managers are inexperienced and lack control. Safety tends to be an afterthought, amazed no one has been seriously injured. Salary is okay, benefits are fair, canteen , uniform etc . Working conditions are poor, it's wet, noisey, and can be hot or cold depending where you are working.

Run by someone who's well out of he's depth, they don't follow ACAS guidelines when it comes to disciplinarys. Bullying and racism is rife, especially towards polish and Bulgarians! HR don't know there butts from there elbows, when visitors go they suck up to them, by lowering the line speeds, progression threw the company is only for those they like and those they don't are forced out, not getting a disciplinary involves apologising , cateen OVER priced and poor quality.
£ and free carpark
The job it’s self is faultless it’s like marmite you either love it or you hate it, you can manage your own timing once you’re out on the road. The management has gone from bad to worse over the years not taking you seriously most of the time and it’s a if you’re face fits kind of thing in the office but once your out on the road you are left to your self
Once you get used to the arla culture it's good place to work . Long shifts days and nights on a rotating system with a ten day break every six weeks which is your holiday so you have to plan ahead and swap shifts if necessary . having said that still ok . I couldn't get used to the night shift it is difficult if you have never done it ..I hadn't and did struggle .
