Staff are a number. Management have no clue about what drivers have to deal with day in day out and have no empathy. Trying to get time off, forget it.

Pros

Nope

Cons

Management are clueless

Terrible

The job itself is easy and days go quick, but it's all the other stuff that let's it down.Constant breakdowns of the bus's and ticket machines playing up which make you late, if you like family life don't bother doing this job you are constantly working unsociable hours for totally a low wage. The upper management don't give a monkeys about you along as you turn up for work, you could be dying but that's not a good enough reason for being sick !Also I honestly do know how some of the bus's are actually on the road they are do dangerous to drive its unbelievable.

After working there for a number of years I enjoyed myself when I was getting more and more stressed out the was no one there to give me guidance so I broke heath and safety to get sacked just so I could get benefits for my children as if I left on my own accord I would not get anything now I've lost everything I couldn't get a job back there because they won't take me back

Pros

Wages ok few benefits work related ok

Cons

No forgiveness nor training for people who have issues

Appalling company to work for

Only interested in profit profit profit. Appalling vehicles, filthy, and the majority are out dated. When buses are faulty, jobs get signed off and clearly not repaired (cracked mirrors good example). All in all, you are treated as a number and a child. Steer clear, honest advice. Just look at the horrendous staff turnover. Speaks volumes.

Pros

Meet other great drivers/people

Cons

Weekend work constantly, no work life balance at all

Ok company

Long hours and get no recognition bad management if you’re not one of the boys you get nothing. Having to deal with situations without any help from management

Pros

Free travel

Cons

Working with the scum of the earth

Good colleagues

Doesn't matter how much times you report a fault with a bus it never gets fixed. Annoying controllers who have never driven a bus keep pestering you to hold your bus which in turn allow passengers to try disrespect you has a driver

Not great

It’s ok vehicles where questionable at times defects didn’t always get fixed pay was just enough to pay the bills unless you chase the overtime the long unpaid breaks was a joke in my opinion and unfortunately your a number

Over worked and under paid

I wouldn't bother working there as you are just a number and not listened to your opinion doesn't count for anything and nothing ever gets sorted it is soul destroying.

OK not brillant

Job is ok pays the bills so not to bad. just poor hours. However if you like lots of hours this would be the job for you. If you wanted to you could work 15hr shifts 6 days a week.

No family life

If you don't have a family and can work alone driving the same route 40 hours a week and rarely allowed to take time off and forced holiday dates, always called for overtime too

Pros

Free travel

Cons

Long hours short breaks no sleeping patten

Nice to work for

Nice to work for them and some of the trainers are very supportive. The management is all right, but the pay not so great. I worked for them as a Watford click driver. The pay wasn't good, but there wasn't that much work to do to be honest.

Okay job but not flexible enough

The job gets boring fast but only thing keeps you interested is the weekly pay. They need to be more flexible with what days amd hours you can work to keep employees

Relaxed and good laugh

Easy going and a good laugh and good drivers all get on with each other even the managers good laugh too and we are well looked after nice and easy routes too Weekend paid at time and quarter

Pros

Pay

Cons

Shifts

Poor management

Very poor old buses like 10-15 years old for a billion pound company. Always breaking down and management don’t care at all. They think about them selfs and they wage each week that’s it. Shifts are awful and management and union don’t care at all about the drivers. Stay well away

Pros

None

Cons

None

Good wages

Good money and plenty of overtime. Job can be interesting. Constantly running late due to traffic and amount of passengers and tight running times and only getting worse.

Ok to work for food security of job

I have worked at arriva for 24 years, I am looking for class1 work having recently passed my LGV. Arriva has been a good employer for me paying weekly, having periodic training, uniform and variety of shift pattern. Overall I would recommend arriva for anyone starting a driving career.

Pros

Steady job. Good holiday entitlement

Cons

Short turn around and basic employee amenities.

Hard but enjoyable job.

Most of the time you are away from other colleagues and management, you have a big responsibility for carrying large groups of people in your big vehicle and feels that thing is amazing!
