Easy Role with Friendly People

All well round job and nice and easy with WFH. Management and colleagues were lovely. A very comfortable Job and free lunches on canteen.Pay could be better but can’t complain.

No hours

If you like starting late and finishing early, join asda, they can never provide contracted hours, constantly getting told to start late and finish early! And you don't get paid for the hours you lose!!!!

Nice place to work

Nice place to work with some good benefits like the staff discount. I am enjoying my time working here the days can be busy but they go quick and my work colleagues are great.

Warehouse Operative

An excellent place to earn money, reasonable pay rate, various shifts, lots of overtime available, good canteen food, cheap gym option, highly recommending

Good

It is a really good starter job… they will provide you with uniform. People are friendly enough management is OK, Sometimes dealing with customers can be a bit stressful

Terrible shift patterns but friendly team and managers.

The managers are friendly and accommodating. Most colleagues are happy to work there. But the shift patterns can be all over the place which makes it difficult to get that work life balance.

Management terrible

You get hired on a 16 or 12 hour contract so that they don’t have to pay so much national insurance/sick days. You only get overtime if the management and team leaders decide they like you .

Cons

Discount card after 3 months service

The store I worked at was a "if your face fits" atmosphere also if you get too popular among your work colleagues and customers you get notice and not in a good way......management and section leaders get jealous and start to throw their toys out the pram making it difficult and nit picking at the smallest mistakes that can be made right within seconds. It can be demanding at times. My fellow colleagues make work fun as do the regular customers you meet..........

Pros

10% discount employee card and the odd 20% discount now and then.

Cons

Unpaid breaks (used to be paid full shift) unprofessional and Judgemental management

Amazing

We worked at the Canterbury store during lock down on the checkouts to help cover staff who were shielding. The team were so welcoming, amazing group of ladies all very encouraging and happy to help out! Great sense of security and everyone was always involved!

Pros

The ladies

Good place to work

Friendly place to work, fair wage, job is pretty straight forward. Interview process was friendly and the induction day was pretty straight forward too.

Brilliant staff

The staff definitely make the workplace. Free car parking, discount on food and adequate breaks. Despite some shorter shifts, it was still a struggle on my body having to lift heavy products consistently. Very repetitive work but friendly environment once you manage to get through the newbie months.

Just a dogsbody

The whole culture that Asda reflects is pay as little as possible for as much work out of you . They give you the least amount of hours on your contract and forget about a break, the structure your shift so that you never get a break. At peak times like Christmas they want lots of hours worked from you and then try to recoup those hours back in January!! Possibly the worst employer

Pros

There are no pros to working for a company that has itself at its heart

Cons

Avoid

Let go after 3 weeks due to "couldn't afford to keep staff on because of money"

No one talks to each other, everyone is a robot stacking shelves, heavy lifting, terrible management, nothing about the job was good, its all just mentally and physically exhausting. I got let go after 3 weeks because apparantly they couldn't afford the amount of staff. Don't waste your time and effort working here.

Busy and friendly

There is always work to be done across the store and you never get bored. Everyone is friendly and helpful with each other, would happily go back if I had childcare

Great place to work

Great place and very friendly staff. Can progress up the ladder if you want or take over time in different departments so doesn’t feel repetitive. Would recommend

The job itself is very easy

Easy job made hard by lazy drivers, but it’s the management fault for not doing anything about it,Creating work for others because they’re to lazy to do their job properly

Pros

Easy job

Cons

Too easy

Good place to work

It was about about 16 years ago but it was great place to work then. Good people and it was pretty laid back. Money was average if I recall. It was a good place to work.

Stressful, nothing right for the drivers

Worked as a deliery driver for Asda for about 5 months, previous worked for Ocado but moved location so thought doing the same job for a different company would be about the same. Was I wrong, found everything just had work. If you van wasn't ready you would have to load it and if something was missing it was your fault. Wouldn't recommed.

Pros

Employee Discount

Cons

Long hours. Heavy Totes

Horrible place to work

Not a very nice place to work, stores run on a shoe string of staff yet workload increases, management are clueless and new ones in all the time so they don't really listen or care (current new manager from aberdare is hopeless, cares more about her looks & phone) general colleagues are pretty tidy but understaffed!

Pros

None

Cons

Bullying, clueless management
