Only give out smaller contracts but easy work.

Was okay for a part time job. Most drivers are on part time contracts but there is plenty of overtime available to make up. But that pay is simply too low unfortunately.

Pros

lots of overtime, generally easy, great staff.

Cons

awful pay

Stressful job

If you want a stressful, high demanding job where you will be expected to do everything to be if it them and not you in away way then your his is the place for you. I wouldn’t recommend working here your not treated the best and getting your wages correctly is always a ongoing issue, especially when they pay you incorrectly and then take 33% of what your are owed from you as a early “payment tax”. Go for somewhere else unless your desperate.

Meat Grinder Where You Don't Matter

Asda love to say they're like a family who work together. Must be a pretty abusive family.Xero opportunities for work-life balance, despite being hired and told it was work from home, they wanted me to come into the office 3 times a week, which is a 1.5 hour trip there and back, while I was at university full time. Being dumb and not wanting to disappoint, I went in and neglected my studies, doing it all at home. Unsurprisingly, it's the exact same job, with zero difference made to the ability to perform if you're at home, in fact in one of the many bragging team meeting we had, it was found that productivity went UP by 10% when working from home. Yet the still wanted people to go in more often than not, which is ridiculous for those who need to commute with the rising gas prices and cost of living prices. They rotate through temps so quickly, with very minimal training given, you are very much left to your own devices. They claim to care about mental wellbeing, but when I had a panic attack and breakdown at work and when my dad died, I was offered very little sympathy and they still wanted me to come in.On top of that the pay is pathetic for the stressful and manic workload you have to manage while meeting targets.

Pros

Cheap cafe

Cons

Management don't care, needless in office working, nepotism galore so good luck if you want a promotion.

Worst company i have worked for!

General Manager and Second Manager were absolutely awful people, They never thanked you for a job well done. I was working 30-50 hours overtime a week. Always told off for petty things. (God forbid if you have a couple of minutes of quiet and you talk to another employee you get told off)

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Pay, Zero respect, constantly telling you off for small things, cant even enquire about your own pay has to go through manager who has to speak on your behalf.

Avoid

Horrible, clicky place to work, your face has to fit, no progression unless your willing to live at the place, you have to work a sat or a sun every week so no weekends off would be better if it was alternate sat/sun as you use up so many holidays, Basically they treat you like the lowest of the low all management have impossible targets and its your responsibility to hit them, wouldn't work here again for double the wage On any shift or department which are also very divided

Fun staff

Was good environment to work with other staff. Good staff discount. No pressure but must like driving and lifting heavy at times. Customers were great, had good experience.

Pros

Staff discount

Not a great place to work.

I really did not enjoy my time working at Asda, the managers couldn’t work together & would never praise the workers but would quickly tell you if you were making a mistake or weren’t quick enough. It really was ran awfully. When I was let go from the company, I wasn’t given an exit interview or a letter of employment termination and I’ve had to wait 12 weeks for them to fully pay me my accrued holiday. Don’t recommend working here.

Pros

Pay was ok

Cons

Poor management

The work is ok dropping hanging clothes to stores ..the pay is a joke you can get this pay for driving van. most Saturday and sundays they want you to work no extra pay worked there for a while to make a living you will have to put over 60 hours a week in there so you will never be home with you wife and kids all the money asda make and the can not even pay there staff a living wage

Pros

Cons

Unsupportive

The role itself was actually enjoyable and social and customers were lovely, overall not a bad job role provided you had no other struggles. Some management (couple nice ones) lack even a slight bit of empathy or are willing to support you. They often are quick to pile up the hours but if you struggle mentally it’s really not the place for you. In the day and age we live in I thought mental health knowledge and support in the workplace may be implemented but not. Job role - Not too stressful and very social Environment - dismissive and ignorant of any outside struggles potentially impacting work

Not for me at all

Did not enjoy working here at all. Got pulled for literally everything. Always noticed for mistakes but never appreciated for the good work you do or the overtime you do. Wanted to trained more on hot food even though I have previous experience just so im doing more than making pizzas at work but was told I wasn't allowed and was the only 1 given rules that I had to go by. Don't understand why they hired me for my experience but wanted me to work like I had no experience 😕

okay place to work in but sometimes management can be annoying as it is very fast paced, very repetitive and gets boring unless you like the people you're working with.

Good for part time work

Very easy job, good management but not many staff so you can have a large workload at times. Not flexible for hours once you start so make sure you can work the days you commit to

Pros

Easy job

Cons

Long shift

well organised

lovely colleagues / management, fast paced but encouraged to meet targets. Can go to management about anything always there to listen, good working hours

Fast paced

I loved asda when I first started but after the pandemic and new owners there felt like a lot of uncertainty.Big bosses expect stupid profits but cut back on hours, making it difficult for colleagues to not become burnt out or ill due to working so much overtime or trying to get so much done in a shorter space of time

Fast paced environment Difficult work life balance Inflexible working hours.Good working culture however limited progression in role.Overall not a bad first job for students.

Mixed feelings

Colleagues were fun to work with- lots of laughs. The job itself was quite easy once you were trained up.Management was poor- the rota was changed constantly. They kept changing the rota after you'd checked it or on your days off, so you obviously didn't know what the changes were. There were times that I turned up to work at 5AM only to be told I shouldn't be there. I heard of colleagues being woken by phone calls asking why they hadn't turned up.

Pros

Colleagues were fun to work with

Cons

Constantly changing rotas

Difficult

Alright job, negotiable hours but the workload was difficult to keep in top of. Also didn’t feel very comfortable in the environment. Management were nice but overall did not like the experience
