bad place to work for
checkout operator (Former Employee) - leeds west yorkshire - 29 January 2023
you didn`t get the support from supervisors when you needed it also if you were ill some mangers didn`t believe you and would question you about your illness, staff members just walk off when it got busy and then you were stuck to help customers on your own and when you asked for help staff members would give you a funny look
Pros
none
Cons
no support, no advancement

Not a nice place to work
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 10 January 2023
Constantly hounding you to work overtime, no training given at all. Won't give you annual leave. Hardly get tea breaks. Team leader wasn't a nice person, wouod bully you into doing overtime. Had to put your hand up when working on the checkout to ask if you were allowed to go to the toilet. Wouldn't work there again or advise anyone to work there.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Long hours

Sad and depressing
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Alloa, Clackmannanshire - 30 December 2022
Full of power hungry managers that expect the world but do nothing their selves , avoid at all cost. No overtime rate , no weekend rate forced to work weekends. If you arent in with the right people you will get the worst shifts. The workers themselves are what keep you going, a lot of nice people

Engaging and productive
Cashier (Former Employee) - Mansfield, Nottinghamshire - 27 December 2022
Nice place to work all the staff are lovely and give you the hours as long as you’re adjustable to various things. Reward people for working with them for so long and get gifts over Christmas etc.

If your not in the click. Then job is not a nice place to work. You never no what's happening in the job. Your job is not secure. The job is hard work. There's no communication in your job.

Enjoyable
Checkout Operator (Current Employee) - Basildon, Essex - 1 December 2022
I enjoy most parts of the job, they don’t train you just throw you in the deep end, the only downside is being forced to work in the kiosk ( which I don’t like )

It's ran via Skeleton Crew technique
Checkout Operator (Current Employee) - Ware, Hertfordshire - 18 November 2022
If your super tolerable you'll be OK, the job is fun but the work place environment and management are not. There are good people working here but are failed by lack luster supervision from some managers etc. No one high up seems to have the initiative to take a employee who glows with opportunity and help progress and push there career.

Fine for students
Checkout Operator (Former Employee) - Northern Ireland - 4 October 2022
Easy enough work, decent pay, good colleagues as most are young But can be hard to get holidays off when you want and some managers make it hard to work around uni classes etc, 8 hour contracts but some are working 30+ a week, wouldn't get your rota until maybe a day or 2 before the week starts

I had fun
Cashier (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 29 September 2022
Only worked part time as a second job, good management and colleagues. Main stress was customers, some people are horrid to retail staff, the customer is not always right!!!

Worst company i have worked for!
Checkout Assistant (Former Employee) - Bradford, West Yorkshire - 17 August 2022
General Manager and Second Manager were absolutely awful people, They never thanked you for a job well done. I was working 30-50 hours overtime a week. Always told off for petty things. (God forbid if you have a couple of minutes of quiet and you talk to another employee you get told off)
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Pay, Zero respect, constantly telling you off for small things, cant even enquire about your own pay has to go through manager who has to speak on your behalf.

Easy job but poor management.
Checkout Assistant (Current Employee) - Renfrewshire - 29 July 2022
Easy job but poor management and being short staffed make it a stressful and unfair place to work. Benefits and perks being cut as more is being asked of you.

Health and well-being ok, management disorganized
Checkout operator (Current Employee) - Milton Keynes - 28 July 2022
The communication is alot to be desired. Management are derogatory and take advantage. Seem to take on board health issues. Can take advantage of kind natured people. Can discriminate.
Pros
Free thank you buffet occasionally
Cons
Long late hours

Management are a joke
Checkout Operator (Current Employee) - Hull - 25 July 2022
No flexibility in your shifts and managers tend to be up their own back sides. However, not a difficult job and is easy pay for what it is and it is very stable

Probably wouldn’t recommend
Cashier (Former Employee) - South Shields, Tyne and Wear - 19 July 2022
It’s alright if it’s only temporary but wouldn’t recommend for a long term job as getting rid of people is a regular thing for them. Expect too much from people.
