No support, poor work environment and never grateful for you going the extra mile to help them. Expect your life to revolve around asda. Rarely get your pay right each month, spend majority of the time putting in wage queries

Decent job

Found the job to be quite tedious and exhausting at times, but not an awful place to work, all depends on your co workers. Management can be stressful.

Pros

Decent pay, flexible hours

Cons

Physically tiring

Not the best for young people

The job overall is enjoyable and you always find yourself kept busy. However there is a lack of communication with management and as a young person here for my first job I often felt like I was seen as juvenile and incompetent. Training not the best and could of been more thorough. If you just keep your head down and get on with it you will be okay.

Toxic working environment

One of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for in over 25 years of work. Management are a joke, the managers are poorly trained, managers who think swearing & shouting will solve problems. A lot of unpleasant people are in charge at this shop. Section leaders are pretty much the same. The staff are all unhappy all the time because they get treated like dirt. 75% of new employees leave within a week or so.Asda management think they have the right to fire people without reason other than not liking them. If you like being shouted at, swore at & put down by unpleasant people this is the job for you. Zero Stars.

Pros

Discount card

Cons

Poorly managed

Good colleagues, poor management

Colleagues and section leaders are good, but we were constantly understaffed whilst being expected to complete everything to a high standard. Management are pretty much there to point out the stupid things that haven’t been done yet, because they refuse to acknowledge that one person can’t do the work of multiple full time colleagues in an 8 hour shift.

Hours not guaranteed some weeks but a nice place to work

Was given a 24 hour contract however some weeks wasn’t given any hours due to pressure from bosses to cut hours. Despite that it is an okay place to work, and the staff were friendly

Pros

Colleagues and customers

Cons

not given hours some weeks

Really enjoy working in ASDA in Irvine. I find all of my colleagues helpful. Good work environment. Hours suit me as I'm flexible. Hope to continue working here for a long time.

Cons

Alright

It’s ok, nothing to write home about. You do a job and get paid for it. You get staff discount which is good I guess.

Used to be good

They want you to do the same job but with less colleagues so double the work in the same time just to save money to much stress for the amount of pay too

Partime Job

It was a great part time job where I done many things and. The managers were okay there could have done more to support of the employees. The working hours were good as I was able to balance this with college

Pros

Cons

Good

Stressful job because now they have cut hours meaning less collleuges when it’s so busy. Can’t progress and mangment is not good. Some colleagues are nice and some are lazy

OK place

Standard retail job , but changed just before I left ,new contracts some worse off than others ,cut bank Holidays from time and half to standard rate ,basically took more part time to avoid paying for breaks ,pretty normal now.

Pros

Staff ok, have banter

Cons

Not much progression

Stressful and overworked

I was the only member of staff on a particular department in charge of doing everything as a new starter. Understaffed constantly and given little to no help by managers on the shop floor and when chasing up payment and administration errors.

Pros

Good Wage & Discount, good colleague culture.

Cons

Understaffed, Overworked, poor management
Was this review helpful?

Decent I guess

High stress, fast paced, made into an outcast if not part of the cliques, unreasonable expectations. There is a horrible atmosphere and blame culture as everyone is under too much pressure from your manager. High sickness rates due to stress. High turnover of staff due to unappreciation. Unreasonable and impossible expectations.

Pros

Decent pay

Cons

Long hours

Good for money

Good company for money especially as extra christmass stuff, night pay is good and good working environment, overall would go back if had the chance to go back.

management are bad

i had my line manager shout at me many times, infront of customers, just for asking simple questions and queries such as what time certain jobs need to be finished by
Was this review helpful?

It’s alright

Very relaxed workplace staff can be pretty lenient and the it is equal pay so it’s above . Can be tiring and boring but overall one of my favourite past jobs

Don’t work here

Made to do work by yourself that would be a three person job, bad pay, unfair workplace overall do not recommend at all, i would honestly rather work at mcdonalds

Cons

Everything

It's ok

Could be a lot worse jobs out there to be fair. Lots of great co workers over the years and some good management as well. Pay could be a lot better but hey ho

Pros

Great people

Cons

Pay
