Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Clacton-on-Sea - 2 February 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedNo support, poor work environment and never grateful for you going the extra mile to help them. Expect your life to revolve around asda. Rarely get your pay right each month, spend majority of the time putting in wage queries

Decent job
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dudley, West Midlands - 22 January 2023
Found the job to be quite tedious and exhausting at times, but not an awful place to work, all depends on your co workers. Management can be stressful.
Pros
Decent pay, flexible hours
Cons
Physically tiring

Not the best for young people
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Hartlepool, Durham - 22 January 2023
The job overall is enjoyable and you always find yourself kept busy. However there is a lack of communication with management and as a young person here for my first job I often felt like I was seen as juvenile and incompetent. Training not the best and could of been more thorough. If you just keep your head down and get on with it you will be okay.

Toxic working environment
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Southampton, Hampshire - 12 January 2023
One of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for in over 25 years of work. Management are a joke, the managers are poorly trained, managers who think swearing & shouting will solve problems. A lot of unpleasant people are in charge at this shop. Section leaders are pretty much the same. The staff are all unhappy all the time because they get treated like dirt. 75% of new employees leave within a week or so. Asda management think they have the right to fire people without reason other than not liking them. If you like being shouted at, swore at & put down by unpleasant people this is the job for you. Zero Stars.
Pros
Discount card
Cons
Poorly managed

Good colleagues, poor management
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Tunbridge Wells, Kent - 8 January 2023
Colleagues and section leaders are good, but we were constantly understaffed whilst being expected to complete everything to a high standard. Management are pretty much there to point out the stupid things that haven’t been done yet, because they refuse to acknowledge that one person can’t do the work of multiple full time colleagues in an 8 hour shift.

Hours not guaranteed some weeks but a nice place to work
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 5 January 2023
Was given a 24 hour contract however some weeks wasn’t given any hours due to pressure from bosses to cut hours. Despite that it is an okay place to work, and the staff were friendly
Pros
Colleagues and customers
Cons
not given hours some weeks

Alright
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 31 December 2022
It’s ok, nothing to write home about. You do a job and get paid for it. You get staff discount which is good I guess.

Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire - 22 December 2022
They want you to do the same job but with less colleagues so double the work in the same time just to save money to much stress for the amount of pay too

OK place
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Shrewsbury - 6 December 2022
Standard retail job , but changed just before I left ,new contracts some worse off than others ,cut bank Holidays from time and half to standard rate ,basically took more part time to avoid paying for breaks ,pretty normal now.
Pros
Staff ok, have banter
Cons
Not much progression

Stressful and overworked
Asda - Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Lancashire - 5 December 2022
I was the only member of staff on a particular department in charge of doing everything as a new starter. Understaffed constantly and given little to no help by managers on the shop floor and when chasing up payment and administration errors.
Pros
Good Wage & Discount, good colleague culture.
Cons
Understaffed, Overworked, poor management

Decent I guess
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 3 December 2022
High stress, fast paced, made into an outcast if not part of the cliques, unreasonable expectations. There is a horrible atmosphere and blame culture as everyone is under too much pressure from your manager. High sickness rates due to stress. High turnover of staff due to unappreciation. Unreasonable and impossible expectations.
Pros
Decent pay
Cons
Long hours
