Recognise the people who actually do the work, the people who raise proper issues that need to be dealt with and those who improve the job for everyone. Then reward them accordingly instead of making sure the idea stealers, those with a face that fits and those managed by nepotism get all the plaudits.
Scratch below the surface of the yes men and the yes women and you’ll see the ones who still have the passion to work for and improve ABP. But these people are slowly losing the drive and desire because they see the same people being rewarded, but not on merit.
Go back to being "good" because the closer you attempt to being "great" the further in the wrong direction it goes for operational staff
Give more opportunity to the stevedores. No progression at all.
Get paid extra from the tickets you have like the forklift and tug master or any other skilled job.
Just make it an enjoyable place to work. Lost over 20+ people last couple of years who where great at there job and loved it but just fed up with the pay and management. Also under manned in every team because of that making day to day work harder because they don’t want to employ new people.
