poor
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Macclesfield, Cheshire - 29 November 2023
Working at this company has been a disheartening experience. The management lacks communication, leaving employees feeling undervalued and directionless. The workload is unreasonably high, leading to burnout, and the workplace culture is toxic, with little support for professional growth. Overall, it's a challenging environment that falls short in fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere.

Jobs at AstraZeneca
Toxic culture, high staff turnover
Oncology Marketing (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 28 November 2023
Fast growing company at the expense of culture and treating colleagues with decency. Such a shame. Good compensation but that is because they can’t recruit due to their reputation.

Decent place to work but could be better
Finance Business Partner (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 27 October 2023
Decent pay and benefits. Great values and product High workload and work life balance can be challenging . Excessive amounts of planning , huge complex structure means a significant number of people required to work through issues .

Dont do a post-doc here
Postdoctoral Research Associate (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 23 October 2023
Post-Doc programme is very poor with little support from senior leaders. Your project is viewed as the lowest priority and you will struggle to get support from colleagues to complete anything.

Toxic and awful place to work
Senior Scientist (Current Employee) - Cambridge, England - 22 August 2023
There is a great deal of favoritism and bureaucracy. People don't get credit for their work and there is a long chain of managers which is practically redundant.

Toxic workplace
Medical Science Liaison Manager (Former Employee) - North West - 10 June 2023
If you want the worst experience of a working culture then accept a job at Astrazeneca. Poor leadership leading to incompetence in new hires as unfortunately the reputation is now so poor. They pay well but at a cost to your mental health.
Pros
good salary
Cons
toxic

I'd look somewhere else...
Microbiology Technician (Current Employee) - Macclesfield, Cheshire - 17 April 2023
It's a very big location with a colourful scenery, but behind the doors, it's more black & white. The environment is dreadfully volatile where you'll be dealing a variety of "tough customers", which are basically people who are out of touch with reality with a high sense of self-worth and the hobby of using your (and everyone else's) inadequacies to make themselves feel superior, while clinging onto authority. I'm surrounded by a decent team and I'm sure you will as well, but keep in mind; when things go wrong (even at the slightest), there will be a lot of finger-pointing and animosity, but this is because every type of management don't give an ounce of support to staff members as if all this talk about health (mental, physical & safety) are illusions. Other than that, the salary here is very satisfying, not to mention the overtime pay is just out of the world. I'd like working here, but gradually, it's becoming very far from a mature and professional workplace. So if you want something more out of this facility than just excellent money, I wouldn't recommend it for you.
Pros
Salary, colleagues
Cons
Management, frustration, lack of morality

Great company not the best manager
QC Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Macclesfield, Cheshire - 15 April 2023
It is a great place really lovely environment and benefits. However pay is not the best in my department and development in the team is slower than expected.

Good pay but no work life balance
Scientist (Current Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 7 April 2023
Very good pay. But they’re removing work from home flexibility. Depending on managers some are very strict and always want you on site even when you don’t have lab work! It’s good job for putting on your CV but bad for long term when you care about mental health and need days to work from home !

Nothing spectacular
Logistics Coordinator (Current Employee) - Macclesfield, NC - 6 April 2023
They have forced everyone go back to the office and not flexy anymore even if they don't have qualified specialists in local area, it's the biggest disappointment. Top management have their own interest and they don't really care about "average" workers. If someone left your department - be prepared to work extra for a couple of months because hiring a new person takes ages! Nothing spectacular at AZ as they try to present themselves.
Pros
salary; co-workers
Cons
management; no flexibility; difficult to grow as a specialist; stressful work; hiring takes ages

Senior Leaders not brilliant and lack of WFH flexibility
Operations (Current Employee) - Cambridgeshire - 12 March 2023
Some Senior Leadership not living behaviours and values and can appear to belittle more junior members of staff. Forcing return to office and losing flexibility. Good development opportunities and plenty of jobs to rotate through to gain exposure and experience.
Pros
development, patient-focussed
Cons
long hours, senior leadership, lack of WFH flexibility

Avoid AZ at all cost if you are a contingency worker
Distribution Coordinator (Former Employee) - Macclesfield, Cheshire - 29 January 2023
Typical day of work is always overloaded with excessive work to do, gathered a lot of experience working cross functionally in a global team, management is so poor as managers do mice manage a alot and work place culture is also great, the hardest part of the job is demand to work early morning as 6am and working late as 10pm without been paid for it, also you traveling for business purpose without been re-imbursed for it however AZ pay is extremely bad even when some new micro ltd company who are just starting up will pay much more and no good work life balance plus zero flexibility, most managers do not have the experience and they do not know what they doing and all they do is to push all their task to you as the contract staff with bad pay.
Pros
Work Culture, Good Work Environment & Some Good People
Cons
bad pay, working outside normal work hours, they could worsen up your mental health with bad managers micro managing always keeping tabs on you
