Work

The work/clients are lovely but can be challenging. Work home life balance not great. Management was not good either. Expect far to much from staff for what you got paid but pay wasn't to bad been worse

Poor

Poor management. One rule for one and one for another. Staff taking drugs in front of pws and even witnessed one staff member blowing weed Into a pws mouth, I reported it but covered up. So many lies, Coverups and abuse. Some team leaders had the god complex and didn't care. Regularly late being paid or pay not right, then had to pay 70% tax to have it rectified. Avoid if possible, the place should be shut down.

Lack of communication

The main issue is lack of communication and issues in management. It feels as if there is no communication and that they don't care about staff. It feels like lifeways focus on the financial side and not about the care that it should provide.

Unfair treatment

They don't treat people fairly in this company and they dismiss people unfairly and don't take both sides of a story into consideration... One rule for one, another rule for another. Awful company and I don't recommend

A great learning experience I am glad I was part of

I enjoyed my time working here. You had the opportunity to really help people get a good quality of life out of their days. You would often find you was working 1 to 1 with residence that team leaders and management placed trust in you to be able to support the people that really needed it. The work place culture was something to be desired, but if you concentrate on your role and not other staff you could really get allot done in the day. The hardest part of the job would be when residence could at times become violent..the positive side of this would be that it really helped bring team members together to calm down the situation and grow as a team. I most enjoyed the progress you could make with the residence and see some of the things you helped implement impact their lives in positive ways.

Trusted member of staff, no day is the same, great experience

Cons

some team members wold forget you work with human beings.

Rewarding Job.

Support Worker (Former Employee) - Newport - 24 October 2012

The job itself was an extremely rewarding job, but it was let down by higher management letting the home get so short staffed that you would end up doing ridiculous hours and getting exhausted.
