good company to work for
I worked as a mot tester for autotech recruit for two years it was great not working at the same place for to long at a time.
it was good pay per hour and in two years there was not more than a couple of weeks I didn't have work .
the contract manager was always on the end of the phone if you needed them, the only reason I left was that I had a car accident and was out of action for a while but hoping to go back to them in the future.
if you you want good pay and don't mind travelling give them a go.
Tester/tech in South london/surrey A good career move
Been with autotech for just over a year now, it was the best career move I ever made, dealing with the crew at Autotech is really easy. If there's ever a problem(not often), there's always someone just a phone call away to help.
Technician / MOT tester in Kent Best work so far
Can't call it a job - as a contractor I feel the team at Autotech have been there to support me and find me the best placements over the last couple of years. I left an averagely well paid management position at a national chain to join Autotech on a part-time basis while growing my own mobile repair business. My health has improved due to the comparative lack of stress. Yes, there is some admin to be done, take some the whole of 10mins a week (umbrella not LTD), and yes, they do take a cut... But I feel it's only fair. This is not for you if you're the average technician - keep your full time job; leave the temp cover to us. We're used to turning up at different places each week (sometimes each day), after over an hour driving (sometime 3h or even more), trying to avoid the usual traffic, along routes sometimes we've never driven. Not knowing what the workload will be. How the workshop is run. If we'll have to waste an hour of our day on lunch, instead of doing what we're there for - work and get paid.
Like all companies, depends who you deal with, but we are mostly that special cut above the rest - granted we can never be more specialist than the guy that has 30 years on that specific brand, but we'll turn up with eyes wide open, and relieve the work load of the tired teams, even if by just doing some of the basic grunt work - MOTs, services, brakes.
Contract vehicle tech in Barnwell, Northamptonshire Great Company to work for
I'm really enjoying my time at Autotech Recruit as a contract mot tester/ technician. They treated and paid me well and I was barely ever out of work. They're a great team!
Tech/Tester in North East It's not work it's a lifestyle.
I have been an Autotech tech/tester for over 4 years now and my only regret is why didn't i do it sooner. You can decide to work as much as you want or as little as you can. I have been to numerous garages all over the UK met so many people and still keep in touch with them. The financial benefits are fantastic and paid on the dot every week. I was able to change my job path whilst working for Autotech giving me a steady income whilst forging a path in an uncertain environment. There are no assurances of work but i have never been so busy. I really can't see any downsides so get out there and enjoy your working life.
