Non stop stressful call centre

They paint is as very employee focus but its just a call centre a the end of the day, sometimes you have lovely chats with customer and sometimes you get screamed at, they are very understaffed and have a high turnover rate. Try to lure you in with benefits but salary not that great for all of the knowledge you need to know the abuse from customers and the stress. Basically if you are looking to just do your job and are not to worried about getting screamed at for things out of your control then you will be fine here, if you actually want to enjoy and not have panic attacks every morning before work dont apply.

Started great

If you are happy to dedicate your entire life around work. You will move along easily. Has become more of a call centre than an office. Has become a popularity contest. A lot of the colleagues are brilliant.

Fast pace, goal oriented workplace.

It’s fast going and can feel like working non stop but it’s a fun place to work and all forms of staff are helpful. The pay is good for what you have to do.

Staff are friendly, you get trainings,

Too much script to read during calls, when you make a mistake, your pay drops as well. Too much irrelevant meetings. The work load is so much for the pay you get.

Varied opportunities

After 15 years and 13 roles, these are my notes. Look out for the regular restructures and redundancy threats. Never get comfortable. Find an ally and mentor who is part of the inner circle and map out your development plan.

Poor management structure

Leaves you feeling like you're being watched at all times and you're not trusted to do your job. Senior managers often took our opinions onboard and then made very quick decisions against the majority opinion that were then implemented too fast

Not safe

Face fits culture. New execs every couple of years hence restructures every couple of years. No job security. Huge focus on costs savings which is constant. Execs are NEVER happy with results of their restructuring. Always ‘more to do’. It never ends! Never allowed to just do your job without constant cost saving measures and ‘new and improved ways of doing things’. Some managers ok. Others just out for themselves. HR (People Function) useless. Only care about managing exec/manager expectations. Pay and benefits good. Lovely colleagues.

Vehicle claims department

Aviva is General a good company, except the car claims department. Cant retain staff, stressful beyond words and literally a number. Business managers do not have the backbone to stand up to those above and say it does not work.

High pressure and too controlled

If your face fits you will get on otherwise you’ll get no where. Too much of a controlled environment where you have to press a button to let team leader know you are going to the loo. You are constantly watched and monitored. No one stays long unless they are the favourite. Park and ride to office is ok unless you miss the bus due to bad traffic. If you are late you must make the time up but then you end up getting a longer day and catching a later bus back to carpark. You can’t make friends easily because there is no time to and if you get too friendly with someone they split you up. You get pulled inti meetings for any little thing and it is very much a blame culture. Only pros is the pay and benefits.

terrible place to work

aviva preach that they care about staff etc but they do not. regardless of your mental health they will tell you that you cannot be off regardless of the circumstances. they change the process of work so much and expect you to pick it up day one. if you make a mistake you are pulled into meetings etc. management doesnt care about you, as long as you are there taking calls. if there is any IT issues out of your hand, it will be your fault no matter how hard you try to fix it you will be penalised for it. no communication within the department. if you question anything you will be made to feel stupid/irrelevant. if you are off for mental health reasons/sickness you will be put on an absense review. managers will act like they care but they are just following the book and not listening to your actual circumstances. do not work here. you are made to sit and answer call after call after call like a robot.

Very stressful. Avoid!

Very stressful. Senior management seem to only care about profit for shareholders.Not enough staff and expected to do three jobs at once.Aviva say they care for the well-being of their staff but the well-being support on offer is inadequate at best.Forget about work life balance.Staff benefits have been cut.Inadequate training that doesn’t prepare you for the job.Outdated IT systems that are always breaking.I regret accepting the job here.

Easy job, but is very target driven with the need to upsell add-onGood location with parking plus subsidised canteen.Micro managed with the time, you need to be logged on to take calls constantly with minimum breaks.

You are not human, you are a number.

Aviva pay fairly well, but it's extremely difficult to get from pay step to pay step. Goalposts are moved at the last minute and something always pops up so that you don't move to that next step when 'predicted'.They claim to be all about employment wellbeing but if you are signed off work with depression and anxiety but if you answer "how are you?" When your boss phones for a weekly check in with "I'm okay" you are met with "well why aren't you at work then if you feel okay?"Would not recommend.

Good place to work, good job security

Fair pay, good hours, overtime opportunities. Also good job security and the chance to progress is there if you want to. No need to take home work with you, once you are done for the day that's it.

Aviva can be a great employer but it depends on the team you're in and what leader you have. In a post Covid world they are out of touch

Salaries are not competitive for low and mid grades and career progression is only for the chosen few. The current 'smart working' approach is old fashioned as they are putting pressure on people to do at least 3 days in the office. I see many of my peers giving up on Aviva because of these reasons and it's such a shame as the vision and purpose is strong and the majority of staff want the company to do well and just want to do right by the customer. Amanda Blanc is a fantastic CEO but there are issues at middle management where a lot of those leaders are so focused on their own career development that they do not support progression of those reporting into them and do not speak up or challenge anything for fear of being made redundant.

Salaries are low for lower/mid grades, 'smart working' approach is old fashioned, progression is difficult, customer facing staff treated poorly, regular re-organisations, lots of redundancies and re-hiring

Salary isn't competative

Worked here for over 10 years. Benefits have decreased year after year and salary is no longer competitive now remote working has opened opportunities Management isn't great.


Annual bonus. Fair sick pay/leave etc

Could not wait to leave

This company has seriously lost its way and it doesn't care.Cevian 'the butcher' took a stake last year and that seemed to trigger a big cultural change.Exec don't care about people and don't listen.If you challenge them you are compromised out and asked to sign an NDA.

Enjoyed working here.Negatively came from some members of the time.

Recruitment for me was internal after temp work turned permanent. Good job role. Enjoyed working here. Fast paced, big teams. Some other staff members could be quite negative but generally stayed away from the negativity. Left due to staff redundancies.

Used to better

Aviva has gone right downhill recently. From cutting 1800 jobs to the culture.It's stressful, repetitive, monotonous.Im in customer service and they've move over half the staff elsewhere to "prevent redundancies"Now they offer overtime cause we are short staffed 😂. Laughable.No chance of progression unless your in witb the in crowd or palls with a manager
