I enjoyed my time at AXE Valley, the time has past quickly and I can't believe it has been 5.5 years that I have worked for AXE Valley. The office staff have always been supportive and friendly... but I feel it's time for a change.

Pros

Local work with not too much travel between clients

Cons

Gaps in my rota that I'm not paid for extending my working day

Worst company I have ever worked for.

Axe valley is the most horrendous company I have ever worked for in my entire life. The pay is the best part of this job… The hours were ridiculous in order to make any money, 7 full shifts per week was considered a normal working week and any less was considered less than full time. This gives no time to have any hobbies or do anything outside of work. The management was hypocritical and overall extremely poorly run. They guilt trip and pressure you into doing extra shifts and do not care for their staffs physical or mental wellbeing.

Pros

None.

Cons

Long shifts, poor pay, poor management, poor training

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The management team work very hard to balance supporting our fantastic team and managing the impact of persistent absence. We provide industry leading online training, in-person workshops and constant refresher training opportunities. We happily welcome team members who work anything from 1 shift a week up to 7 (a 38hr week). An average 'shift' is 6 hours and we pay above the LA recommended rate of £10.00I'm very sorry you did not enjoy your time at Axe Valley and wish you the best of luck in your new role.

Ok as a stop gap, otherwise don’t No No No

Possibly the worst place I have ever worked in my entire life, from a passive aggressive owner to a snake of a line manager wages were very poor stress was very high. Working there had a very negative effect on my mental health. They will employ anyone so ok as a stop gap till you can get a job with real prospects that pays a wage you can live on, the only way to get a wage you can live on is to work 50+ hours a week

Pros

None

Cons

working till 10 at night then in again at 6 in the morning

Thank you for taking the time to feedback. Our lovely and absolutely brilliant planning team work on a 7-15:15 or 09:30-18.00 shift pattern so perhaps Axe Valley has evolved during your time away? Thanks again!

Very poor management

I can say it was the most stressful place I have ever worked. There is no life balance and you should do what suits company. Long hours and short time to recover between shifts.

Cons

Long hours

Thank you for taking the time to comment. The current management team has been in place post AVHC operating in Dorchester. We are always very happy to chat about how we facilitate flexible working, clustering of clients to reduce travel time and hours available from part-time to full-time shift pay. Thanks again!

I wouldn’t recommend working for this company, they do not treat their staff very well.

The company doesn’t look after their staff very well, I worked on a part time basis, but would regularly get phone calls asking me to do extra shifts, and when I couldn’t I was made to feel guilty, there was no consideration for people with children when it came to Christmas etc... I would often report problems, yet nothing was done to rectify them.

Excellent care provision and great company to work for

Axe Valley Home Care provide a great tailor-made service for their clients and being part of this is very rewarding. The most enjoyable part of the job is supporting the elderly and enabling them to stay in their own homes. I'd recommend a career in health and social care for anyone with a caring nature and Axe Valley is a great company to work for.

Pros

Rewarding and varied time at work

Cons

none

Great company to work for

I have worked for a few different home care agencies and this one is the best by far. The shifts are organised well so that you get to visit the same people - this really helps you to build a good relationship with the people you support. The most enjoyable part of the job is the good feeling you get from knowing you have helped someone in your own local community.

Pros

It's great to care for people in their own home, as opposed to a carehome.

Cons

Care work has early starts!
