Reviews for Warehouse Worker at B&M Retail
Very Conducive
Warehouse Operative/Picker (Current Employee) - Bedford, Bedfordshire - 10 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Teamwork from top to down. Everyone is ready to help you settle down into the system and are ready to give a helping hand. Equal access to both new and existing staff with no difference What is the most stressful part about working at the company? In my area of work, having to stand up on the LLOP from 10pm to 1am before break is kind of stressful. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very friendly and relaxed environment. Opportunity to work on your own What is a typical day like for you at the company? I am still learning since I am new. So I am always busy and careful to avoid any mistakes

Normal Warehouse work
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 9 March 2023
Typical warehouse work You would have your basic warehouse health and safety training followed by LLOP training. Picking at first, and after 3 months of probation you could talk to management to apply for other departments. A normal day's work would mean picking various sized items that can be found in the bm store and stacking them on pallets. Work consisted of * 3 days, 12 hour shifts 18:00-06:00 (saturday-monday or friday-sunday) * or 5 days 8 hour shifts monday-friday ( am 06:00-14:00, pm 14:00-22:00 or nts 22:00-06:00. It's usually better during Christmas time as they have better pay and incentives for pick rates ( but only this time of year). I would recommend wearing a mask, as the place is very dusty, and warm clothes as its very cold especially in winter when they open bay doors. Management is ok, better on nights/weekends, probably due to being fewer people as they let you do your work , and not check you all the time like you are some kind of robot like other shifts. Colleagues are nice, they help you if you need any kind of help, but not all are like that .
Pros
Good pay, Free tea/cofee (had free water bottles during winter), free jackets to keep you warm
Cons
Long hours, repetitive work, dusty warehouse, really cold during winter, cheap canteen food but nasty (better to bring from home)
