Amazing
business services (Former Employee) - Samlesbury and Warton lancashire - 11 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Whilst doing my 3 week placement at BAE systems my favourite part was working with individuals who showed me what a day in the life as an aerospace engineer is like and getting a real understanding of how all aspects of the company work. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? There wasnt really anything stressful about the company however BAE systems is big on security so if you forget your id card at home you will find it hard to enter the building even though you work there What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The work enviroment and culture was great all the people i spoke to were nice and knew what they were talking about. I was in 4shed and my mentor there for the placement week was matthew cunnife who worked in procurment and helped me out whenever i was stuck What is a typical day like for you at the company? A typical day starts of in the office going through what I would be doing for the day weather it be in logistics, procurment or something like SHE (safety health and enviroment) as well as other things.

Painfully dull
Commercial (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 9 November 2023
Tiresome, boring admin effectively. No solid vision for the business, just lots of corporate buzzwords and pretty presentations. I think this is where you come to work to let your career die.
Pros
Good benefit
Cons
Soul destroying

Ok
Principal Engineer (Former Employee) - Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - 8 November 2023
Pay not great with massive disparity between people on the same grades. Jobs promotions for those close to those higher up's regardless of quality. Better places to work for better pay.

Great to work for but frustrating
Associate Engineer (Current Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 29 October 2023
BAE are very much a decent company to work for, with a friendly team and extra benefits such as a share-scheme. However, there is a frustrating amount of over-management.

What is the best part of working at the company? Poor culture - if your face suits you will do well if it doesn’t you won’t ! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Peer pressure. Politics politics politics What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very poor - do as I say not as I do What is a typical day like for you at the company? Not at liberty to say - varies doers get more to do the slackers are left to just be …

Good pay poor communication
Manufacturing Engineer (Former Employee) - Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria - 9 October 2023
The communication between furness and bae is poor and have no audit to see that furness is actually doing their jobs. Needs more support for students

Sometimes Interesting / Sometimes to bureaucratic
Developer (Current Employee) - North West - 18 September 2023
Been at BAE for a number of years, I enjoy the people and the job. Sometimes it does feel like your pushing water uphill though! They pay good lip service to ways of working and being inclusive etc, but it doesnt often feel that way.

Needs Improvement
Design Engineer (Former Employee) - Hampshire - 27 August 2023
Workplace culture is okay - a lot of ex service which is understandable, I feel like a lot of the process and the culture are outdated and needs improvement. Management needs improving, the head of my current department, the people below him want to go and further develop their career with further education, but the head doesn't allow it as he is afraid people will leave - even though people will leave to find an employer that will fund education to them The most enjoyable part of my job is the hybrid working, but this is being phased out of BAE sadly, as its been announced that our department has to be in full-time as a 'working collaborative environment' even though I can talk to a peer over skype and teams etc... I feel like a lot of old people in management that are narrowminded, and have the 'my way or the highway' type of the philosophy.
Pros
Salary, Bonus, Hybrid Working, Share Scheme
Cons
Processes, Management, Culture

Fantastic Colleagues - but too many re orgs
Architect (Current Employee) - National - 12 August 2023
The constant re orgs leave the business in chaos. Lots of silos sometimes doing the same thing but following different governance. Sneaky castle building amidst the chaos can leave employees left out at the edge. Lots of overworked staff burning out doing 90% of the work.

Bad experience
Accounts Assistant (Former Employee) - Warton - 8 August 2023
Job in accounts was the most brain-numbing experience of my life. Nowhere near enough work to do, constantly clock watching. No team engagement. Worst job I've ever had despite my wanting to work there since I left school.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Very little work, no team atmosphere
