Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI don't feel like my role has any impact. Management do not practice what they preach. For a business that promotes life long learning they don't want to learn anything new. Systems and process are old and outdated which makes everyone else life more difficult. The whole set up isn't created to support more people into work or better paid jobs its to make the life of certain managers and teams as easy as possible. Targets are changed so bonuses can be paid at the expense of contractual performance. Its really quite shocking
Pros
Casual dress
Cons
Long hours, tight deadlines and old systems

Avoid
Business Development Executive (Former Employee) - Remote - 10 March 2023
The area of apprenticeships was a new area for this company and their lack of experience and CRM system showed their inexperience. Unless you want to trawl through yellow pages and have no direction with your role then I would avoid this company.
Pros
None
Cons
Lack of CRM and direction

Hard Work & Stressful
Course Coordinator (Current Employee) - Manchester - 13 February 2023
I do not recommend becoming a course coordinator/LEA or enrolment officer with Back2Work unless you have a good sales back ground and thrive in a target based environment. Funding rules and regulations change all the time, sometimes without any notice and the managers are very much target based. I have seen people leave the job due to stress. After three months of working for them my job role was changed without notice and targets went up. Since the target went up I have been behind. For me this job isn’t suitable. Others love it not sadly I do not find myself feeling the same. I don’t believe in the work that I am doing and putting people on a course for 2/3 weeks just so they can obtain a job interview, that sometimes doesn’t happen, feels wrong.
Pros
Weekends off, working from home 3 days a week, health and well-being app where you can claim back money for prescriptions, 8 hour shifts, company laptop.
Cons
Target based, funding rules changing all the time creating chase up work.

Pros

Cons
Targets can be unreasonable

Avoid, awful and toxic
Distance Learning Tutor- digital (Former Employee) - Manchester - 4 October 2022
They do not listen to staff, they are constantly moving the goal posts. One minute they are pushing you in one direction then the next you are being pulled in the opposite direction as someone new takes over. Zero communication.

Warm, Welcoming and People-First
Advisor (Current Employee) - Manchester City Centre, Greater Manchester - 30 July 2022
You feel part of something bigger than yourself and have the resources and means to make a huge difference to people's lives. The company culture is so very inclusive and your value is acknowledged. Highly recommend working for the company even to get exposure to the industry.

A waste of time.
Warehouse Operative / Order Picker (Former Employee) - North West - 16 March 2021
Applied for a job to be told I need to do a two week course first, I was ok with that as I was unemployed so had the time. The course was a long drawn out affair that could have been done in a day or two but I carried on and completed it. At the end there was no job, no interview, nothing, just you've finished so goodbye. They sent a PDF of my certificate for me to print but they couldn't even spell my name properly, so much for an educational provider! The worst part in all this is while I was doing this stupid course I stopped looking for work thinking I had a job at the end. I've wasted two weeks, got no job and have a certificate that is no good to me because they couldn't spell my name properly. STAY AWAY!

Absolute Con
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - unknown - 21 July 2020
After applying for a job, I received a phone call explaining that i had to do a course which would take around 2/ 3 weeks to complete. They then said , there would be an interview guaranteed at the end of the course. I challenged this , because i know that employers want positions filling asap, they don't wait for people to complete courses. However i continued and did the course. I was also promised £50 on completion of the course. After i had finished the course i asked what was the procedure for an interview and when do i get my £50 ? I did not get any form of reply, Please please be aware this company get you to sign up and they get funded of the DWP. You get nothing , no money and no interview.I have contacted my local MP , Who in turn is going to contact the secretary of state for the DWP. Businesses like this should be shutdown. Avoid at all costs and do not waste several weeks of your life .

Back 2 work were extremley helpful. It was a good coarse with a very friendly trainer and a good learning process and made it easy to get my CSCS Card. Even though i am not in my immediate chosen carreer path. I have a job and it is my starting step. I like the fact you have a very good work coach who constantly looks for jobs for you and is happy to help you.

Just awesome!
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire - 25 May 2020
B2W guys have been nothing but good to me, I went to Supply Chain and Logistics course, took me two weeks to complete it, plus couple days of FLT training and straight after I received a job offer. B2W personal followed all the processes, made constant calls to keep them updated, and made sure I got the spot in the new workplace. It was what I was looking for and they made it happen. Much respect for this company and I highly recommend giving them a go. They just might help you too!

Productive managment, Unrealistic timeframes
Student (Former Employee) - Brentford, Greater London - 10 April 2020
Amazing staff resolving issues and challenges promptly. Friendly and positive responses.
However the trainers are worked at great pressure and I highly accredit there hard work and dedication towards there students in a short space of time
I would recommend working in administration or management as its good for keeping the mind occupied and developing skills to progress further in life skills.
Pros
Positive, Problem Solvers
Cons

Friendly Atmosphere
Digital marketing (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 6 February 2020
Everyone in the office is really friendly and they get along, which makes it a pleasure to work here. They also focus heavily on wellbeing and implement wellness activities to support staff.
Communicate could be improved on across departments to ensure everyone is up-to date with any changes.

Positive Visions and Values
Digital Marketing Officer (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 6 February 2020
Back2Work is a good company to work for. There's a positive and friendly atmosphere in the office with regular social events planned and the bonus of having office dogs! The company has positive visions and value which everyone works hard towards. The company is focussed on staff wellbeing and development with a bonus of flexible hours that can work around you.
Due to the nature of the business, there can be tight deadlines which can be stressful at times and not much room for progression in some departments.

Poor experience
Tutor (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 22 January 2020
Fast growing department that haven’t got the basics in place. Poor communication, organisation and management. Poor induction and 1:1. Processes constantly change, unrealistic caseload with added responsibilities weekly. Expected to work evenings and weekends unpaid. All about bringing money in for the company at the expense of employees well being. Awful experience!
