Activities Assistant in Horsham, West Sussex
on 29 March 2021
Terrible Management
I worked at barchester for two weeks and I was appalled Firstly, I was running events on my own which was never discussed or even mentioned Secondly, there was no care or respect from other staff members when I needed help Thirdly, when a resident is acting out or doing something inappropriate, nurses should help support and take over the situation and not let someone who isn’t trained to do their jobI emailed management about these issues and never received a response. This just proved to me they didn’t care and all they cared about was themselves. There was no pride in their jobs and honestly couldn’t believe I was left to my own devicesI have worked in many places but never have I quit after only two weeksThe training was full on however more training is needed for entertainment as my role was not to be a nurse and it was never to be Carer. I was there to provide entertainment and Activities for the residents Lastly, for the nurses the just leave the residents in my activities with no communication to myself about their needs or well being is disgraceful...I am truly saddened with the staff there and they should be more respectful towards the Activities Staff and learn about care and respect for us and the residents...Even after I left, I received no phone call, no email, no discussion... I felt like I was just a fly on the wall to themSo Disappointed...

Lovely place to work
My local Barchester Homes was so lovely inside, really looked after property. Staff where really warm and welcoming. Although l didn’t work there very long l did enjoy it but had to leave due to a health condition. I would recommend working there. You do have to work hard but it is very rewarding.

Night Care Assistant in Boroughbridge

very unorganised with none or little training ,and no support from collegues
I found Barchester to be very un-unorganised ,no real structure ,no or very little training or support ,lots of agency who come and go ,very critical but then theres no direction to what you should be doing ,breaks are unpaid and not properly allocated so you rather miss it all together or have rushed breaks and left not really when to take them ,staff who have been there along time (very few of )have no interest in showing anybody new the ropes ,but a very quick to tell you where you go wrong ,very little management support .vast turn over of staff due to poor training and support ,very understaffed but thats due to the lack of initial training to help you get off the ground and theres to many untrained staff muddling along without proper management guidance ,shame really .plus points .not bad pay ,quite flexible to accomplish work life balance .

Not supportive to the nurse that work there and not supportive any staff, if unwell do not want to know just expect you to carry on. Poor management and poor support.
