Barnsley College is an inspiring, aspirational and exciting place to work. We recruit staff from all over South Yorkshire, and many of our staff travel much further than this for the opportunity to work at our outstanding College.

Education is changing; it’s becoming more dynamic and more aligned to what businesses need from their future workforce. Barnsley College is at the very forefront of this change. We are one of the first colleges in the country to offer the new T Level qualifications and we have many key industry partnerships that really help our students to get the skills and experience they need both in Further and Higher Education.

Nationally, as well as locally, we are a well-respected College that is often looked to as a leader in the sector and has won many awards and accolades, such as the Silver Award for BTEC College of the Year 2019. This means that we need passionate staff who aren’t afraid to try new things to help us to continue to lead the way.

To ensure we achieve our vision of Transforming Lives, we need the very best staff members who can teach, guide, support and encourage our students to be the best versions of themselves, achieve their qualifications, and go on to do amazing things. This isn’t just about teaching staff, we recognise that our support staff, from Estates to Marketing, Finance to Safeguarding, also play an essential role in keeping the College running smoothly.

We have some fantastic examples of former students who have gone on to transform their own lives, and the lives of others, after studying with us. Such as Alex Turner and Matt Helders from world-renowned rock band Arctic Monkeys who studied Music with us; or Dr Selina Wray who took her A Levels here, went on to university to study a MSci and a PhD, and is now an Alzheimer’s Research UK Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Neurology, University College London. These are just three examples of our impressive alumni but we are proud of all our former students who are enjoying successful careers and living successful lives all around the country and the world.

Our Transforming Lives vision also extends to our staff and to ensure we retain our excellent people we invest in our workforce, giving them access to training, development and career progression opportunities. We also reward and look after our staff with generous annual leave entitlements, wellbeing programmes, regular staff development and networking events, flexible working opportunities, and many discounts and offers, such as reduced gym membership.

Wherever your expertise lies, if you’d like to work at a highly successful College in a supportive and nurturing environment, then you’re looking in the right place.

We look forward to receiving your application and wish you the very best of luck with your future career.

Great Team
We have an amazing morale usually but the expectation that you work above what you are "contracted" to do with no awareness or praise or room for pay rise. Lowest paid college despite being outstanding - It is a shame.

Supportive place to work
It's a fast paced environment and there is always plenty to do, job roles are varied and no day is ever the same. You are appreciated for the work you do and frequently thanked by management and peers. Its a collaborative environment with plenty of CPD and learning/developments opportunities.

Pros and Cons
Holidays are the best thing with this employer, salaries are poor, staff development is poor, management is very mis-guided and overall people are worked to the extreme.
