horrible place
prefer not to say (Former Employee) - Irvine - 23 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWas the worst working experience of my life. No support, made to walk on eggshells around everyone. Dishonest staff, management who have nothing positive to say to anyone bar their favourites. Avoid this place if you value mental health dragging myself there everyday was near impossible.
Pros
none
Cons
long days, poor pay, poor management

Not a bad place to work
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Irvine, North Ayrshire - 19 August 2023
It isn’t the worst place to work to be honest all they care about is getting cans out the door and money in no consideration for the people actually packing the pallets

Avoid at all cost
Production Worker (Current Employee) - Irvine - 13 March 2023
This company is a joke. Managers live in different world and only care about their morning meetings. Plenty useless staff. New faces everyday. No matter u work or no still the same money. There are some positives on working here - unlimited full paid breaks for smoke. So..... good luck for everyone who think about working in this place

Pay good. Job not
Engineer (Current Employee) - Irvine, North Ayrshire - 28 February 2023
Not a great place to work. Health and safety none exsistent. Constant pressure to improve on production figures. Very little or no chance to actually maintain machinery. Factory roasting in summer and freezing in winter. If on the 12 hour shifts then the money is good.

Underpaid
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Irvine, North Ayrshire - 3 February 2023
Love the job and the people I work with but its the lowest forklift drivers pay in Ayrshire. The pay just above minimum wage and they think you should work like your making 13 pound an hour.

Toxic and bad for mental health
General Operative (Former Employee) - Irvine - 4 October 2022
No clue who to go to for instructions as there is no communication whatsoever between the management staff and production workers. Management staff have an authority complex and treat employees with utter disregard. Get shoved in the back with the nonnatives and don’t get any instructions. Get harassed for being off sick/family emergencies. After a month of working there I got up for my shift to start at 6am to be told to go up the road because I made and mistake and didn’t realise my phone was still in my pocket. They then lied to APEX and said I was caught using my phone on the production line. CCTV will prove this wasn’t the case. NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENT!! Only positive is you get a laugh from most of the other production workers but would definitely advise avoiding this place.

unsafe warehouse
warhouse operative (Former Employee) - Irvine / Dundonald - 16 September 2022
Employee first words to me were "its a shitehole"...health and safety an issue in warehouse hub....no communication between staff, good job but spoilt by workplace culture. overall if you want to work in a safe workplace then work elsewhere.
Pros
Quick shift
Cons
No lighting in parts of warehouse, understaffed, no supervision.

Good for someone who just wants to get on with it
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Irvine - 23 October 2021
I had a relatively good experience, you're always busy and never out of work depending on the role and are pretty generous with the overtime pay. But will say it does get stressful at times and there's a bit of a language barrier with some.
Pros
Always busy
Cons
Shifts rotate weekly

Production Operative (Former Employee) - Irvine, North Ayrshire - 16 May 2020
Worked on a production line packing aerosol packs onto pallets same time as...collecting pallets, filling out paperwork, updating whiteboard,
changing ribbons and labels
Pros
Always kept busy
Cons
Couldnt speak polish so left out of most line conversations

Jobs at Barony Universal Products plc
Steer clear
Former employee (Former Employee) - Irvine, North Ayrshire - 13 October 2019
QC is a fake title, more like a machine operator. Paid for one job title, but more like doing the work of two or three people. No machine maintenance. Prone to break down. Lack of company responsibility. Only interested in numbers, not quality. Frustrating and infuriating. Bare minimum training. Outdated computer/printer system. Easily injured. Very low staff morale. Own staff hate working there. Wouldn't recommend.
Pros
Weekly pay.
Cons
Liable to drive you to breaking point.

No room for progression
Chemical Process Operator (Current Employee) - Irvine - 29 July 2019
At first it was great now it's overworked & underpayed for the specific job I do is well underpayed as the heartbeat of the factory chemical process to which very physical and demanding whilst there's people out on the line arms crossed earning more for less the wage structure and management need to take a hard look at what the new structure should be and to benift the hardest workers
