Telesales Executive (Current Employee) - Lee Mill, Devon - 17 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPay is good but only if you hit commission which is getting harder. No real training ,.you get thrown in quickly. The other departments make it hard to work as a team to achieve the same gaol

Unorganised, overworked
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Salisbury, Wiltshire - 24 September 2023
Poor management, even poorer communication. Overtime is expected not optional. Expect a 12 hour day most days. Drivers always at fault regardless of the issue. Pay well but treated poorly.

Poor management. Broken vehicles.
HGV Class 2 Driver (Current Employee) - Ivybridge, Devon - 1 September 2023
Management haven’t got a clue what’s going on with the transport. Random phone calls from office when your out on the road asking where you are and to help other drivers when you have your own run to be doing.
Pros
Good wage
Cons
Long hours, stressful, poor management, vehicles damaged, building falling apart.

5 September 2023Thanks for stopping by. While we understand it can be frustrating needing to go back out to help others at the end of a busy day, sometimes situations arise meaning everyone needs to pitch in to get the job done as a team. This should work both ways though, with those team members who have received help also being asked to support others when they may be struggling. We'll pass your comments onto the management team at Lee Mill, but don't forget you can also have your say and provide feedback through our internal channels, such as our employee survey or by speaking to your line manager or the HR representative at your site.
If money's your goal work here, if you want to be able to do things at 40 don't.
HGV Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Nottingham - 24 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Pays good. Nothing else to be honest. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Too much work at times for one person should employ drivers mates of some sort. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Poor. Bidfood are that big you really are just a number. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Physically hard, mentally draining and more is always expected of you.

6 September 2023Thanks for stopping by. We understand that our Driver role isn't for everyone, and there's no getting away from the fact that it is fast paced - with early starts and multiple deliveries to make each day. Wishing you the best of luck for the future.
Used to be great
Shunter (Former Employee) - Redhill, Surrey - 18 August 2023
I had worked at bidfood for around 7 years, first as a warehouse operative, then moved onto the transport side of things The majority of my time there was as a warehouse picker, Before the whole covid pandemic, bidfood was a excellent place to work. reasonable picking targets, a good bunch of people and management were fine, approachable and more importantly had a sense of humour, unfortunately since the whole covid pandemic, and I'm guessing more online orders etc, the work pace had picked up a lot, and not just a small amount. for the pickers, and which there was a lot of favouritism and those who would be given all the decent and easy picks, ensuring they'll achieve their daily targets without breaking a sweat. so the majority of staff who aren't held up on a pedestal, and pretty much handed there daily target on a plate. (even though this was strongly denied by management) did have to really put the effort in usually struggling to reach target, picking up unnecessary injuries due to over exerting themselves, and as a result of falling behind would face disciplinary actions for poor performance.. the work pace had risen from an average of 15 to 20,000 on a very busy day, to currently (according to friends who are still working there) a normal day is now an average of 30 to 35,000 per shift. because of the extra work, bidfood had given a generous wage increase, But this also came with a pickrate increase, so the daily target had risen to an unreasonable amount, and i'm sure those management in the upper tiers who came up with these so called targets haven't got -

Biggest waste of time in my career to date
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 17 August 2023
My typical day at work was nothing. From the day I joined I was essentially ignored and no one in my department showed any interest in me. Promises in the job interviews never materialised. I was never given more than a morsel of work. I raised this with the head of my department and nothing changed. The only positive thing I can say is that my line manager was very nice, but I’m afraid was a poor line manager. My week at work was have a call or two (sometimes no call at all) with my line manager who just explained what they had been doing. No training, essentially no work (pretty much all of this was “busy” work and seemed of no benefit to anyone), suggestions just dismissed, I have no idea why this company employed me as they just wasted both of our times. I never even spoke to multiple members of my own department. I was never given the opportunity to do anything. I didn’t join to enter a career black hole, I left to escape it, and to save my mental health which suffered due to this company and this role. The worst job at the worst company I’ve ever worked for.
Pros
Salary was competitive
Cons
Boring, career black hole

Disappointed
Transport Operations Manager (Former Employee) - Bicester - 29 July 2023
At the interview stage the picture was painted that the culture was bad and its going to be a long road to changing this. I was up for the challenge and started to take drivers and Team Managers to task over things they were not doing and coaching on thing sthey were doing but needed to change. 9 months into the role I had only received 1 written performance review which was 1 month into the job. After a change of senior manager my probation is extended by 3 months again Not in a documented meeting and No written confirmation. My commitment to the company was questied even though I gave more time than my contracted 40 hours and cancelled Holiday at short notice to ensure Management coverage in the depot. The Company senior Managers cant follow the company procedures how on earth do you expect the rest of the workforce to follow. I am looking for a less stressful company to work for and o e who value their Managers and follow the correct procedures. No wonder they go through Transport Managers in the last 3 years Bicester have had 5 from what I am told.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Need to commit to more than 50 hours per week, be expected to answer the phone and emails at a weekend, lack of facilities at site (vending machine only), not allowed to challenge mangers for rism of upsetting them

Jobs at Bidfood
Poor management.
No Work/Life balance (Former Employee) - Bristol - 26 July 2023
One of the most horrendous places to work. Bad communication, start times changing daily, so you get on time to your job and maybe have to wait their lorry to come for 1 to 2 hours to be loaded, etc there are so many things that are not working at all on this company. Avoid this company.

Poor management great lads
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Chepstow - 26 July 2023
Great pay, good lads poor management and the compulsory overtime is getting beyond a joke. The more you give the more they want. Decent benefits and you actually get sick pay after 2 years now but it was after probation when I started. It would work a lot better if it was 4on 4 off 12 hour shifts but it’s a 45 hour contract mon-fri with compulsory OT which is every night nearly
Pros
Layed back good wages
Cons
Long hours all week

Fast paced, challenging, supportive & fun
Project Coordinator (Current Employee) - Home based - 18 July 2023
Supportive managers and team mates The level of autonomy is a huge strength. I feel trusted to do my job and empowered to make decisions. Lucky to work in an environment where we are encouraged to challenge up to SLT level and try new ways of working Social, friendly & warm atmosphere Challenging / stretching role, no two days are the same. My personal experience at Bidfood has been full of opportunity, development, a lot of hard work and commitment but very rewarding! Made some friends for life. Moved across three different teams, learnt from many different people across the business, nearly 7 years in and still learning every day.
Pros
People, great managers/ leaders, development opportunities, autonomy, trusted

Unrealistic targets
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 12 July 2023
The managers push for a 1000 pick rate per shift with 20+ employers but there’s is only 16000 items to be picked on average every shift. If target of 1000 is not achieved they are on your back straight away.

Great pay, stressful job
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Harlow - 11 July 2023
A very fast paced company, non organised management, very stressful, and you work like a robot maybe worse than that but a very good teamwork. If anyone wouldn’t care about that then I would suggest to work there cause it’s very good wages for a warehouse operative. It’s literally like a supervisor wage in other warehouses
Pros
Good teamwork, Very good wages for a warehouse, and if you finish your tasks earlier you can go home and get paid for a full day
Cons
Felt that I was forced to stay extra till we fully finished our tasks

Interview
Customer Assistant (Current Employee) - Salford, Greater Manchester - 28 June 2023
The interview lasted about 30 minutes and it was 2 people asking the questions, they were both really nice. They don’t ask do you know anything about the company because they tell you. They just asked the questions ‘ strengths and weaknesses’ ‘what was your last or current boss like’ (don’t not say anything bad about the boss even if you didn’t like or get on with them) ‘give me a time when you took responsibility in a situation’ ‘how did you handle a complaint and how did you resolve it’ at the end they ask if you have any questions but what ever you say do not ask the questions ‘how many holidays do I get’ ‘what’s the wage’ ask the question ‘if I get the job what is the process of the training like’ just make sure you have a question rather than saying no, doing this will set you apart from other people
Pros
Friendly staff
Cons
None

Hard work but good pay
Multi Drop Driver (Current Employee) - Worthing - 22 June 2023
Early start times which you would think are good so that you finish early. This isn’t the case. Once you’re done on your own route/s you then have to assist other drivers that are slack. You never know when you will finish.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Long hours
