Poor management great lads
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Chepstow - 26 July 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat pay, good lads poor management and the compulsory overtime is getting beyond a joke. The more you give the more they want. Decent benefits and you actually get sick pay after 2 years now but it was after probation when I started. It would work a lot better if it was 4on 4 off 12 hour shifts but it’s a 45 hour contract mon-fri with compulsory OT which is every night nearly
Pros
Layed back good wages
Cons
Long hours all week

Unrealistic targets
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 12 July 2023
The managers push for a 1000 pick rate per shift with 20+ employers but there’s is only 16000 items to be picked on average every shift. If target of 1000 is not achieved they are on your back straight away.

Great pay, stressful job
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Harlow - 11 July 2023
A very fast paced company, non organised management, very stressful, and you work like a robot maybe worse than that but a very good teamwork. If anyone wouldn’t care about that then I would suggest to work there cause it’s very good wages for a warehouse operative. It’s literally like a supervisor wage in other warehouses
Pros
Good teamwork, Very good wages for a warehouse, and if you finish your tasks earlier you can go home and get paid for a full day
Cons
Felt that I was forced to stay extra till we fully finished our tasks

Good pay and fun place to work
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Downton, Wiltshire - 25 May 2023
Voice picking keeps you fit and you'll likely cover 10 miles per shift so it's great for your legs. Picking from pallets is tough at first, but once you learn what the products look like, it becomes much easier. Highly recommended place to work. Management can be a little peculiar, but that's the only downside.

Pros
Set hours and no weekend work
Cons

Poor work life balance and really stressful to work for! Management is horrendous
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 5 March 2023
Managers talk to you and treat you like rubbish on their shoes, you go above and beyond to help them out and they leave on time while you’re still working! Never have chance to book holiday because they already book too many people off that are required for workload! Extremely stressful! No work- life balance, you go in the afternoon and you sleep when you’re home and wake up and 4 hours later you’re back in home! Terrible place to work for !
Pros
Some decent people
Cons
Tired all the time, stressed out all the time!

Warehouse Worker positionsClique mentality
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 28 February 2023
Aggressive nightshift managers & favoritism. I'll say without any hyperbole that if you wish to get anywhere within the company, you better smile and say yes to every request. This is not a place if you consider yourself intelligent and can think for yourself. Aggressive managers picking on staff they think won't bark back, always asking for overtime, which is fine but as soon as you say no, watch your back.

Hard work, but well paid
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 17 November 2022
Management very understanding. It’s hard work to start with but once you get the hang of it, it’s enjoyable and management are always on hand to help. Staff do come and go a lot but that’s because they don’t give it chance. Pay is good, but you do earn it - especially in peak periods.
Pros
Management, employees, pay
Cons
Hours were awkward for seeing kids

Hard work but good pay
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Chepstow - 4 November 2022
Hard work picking during the night and need to be prepared to do overtime when required. Good pay and opportunity to buy cheap food from the warehouse.

Be prepared for mental health problems
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Chepstow - 29 June 2022
Welcome to the meat grinder. Typical day at bidfood chepstow is chaos, managers haven't got a clue on what their staff actually do. They cant get a basic day to day operation to run smoothly after years of doing it and change things for the worse. The absence increase due to stress is huge, the turn over rate for new staff is ridiculous as they turn to bullying tactics and pressure people into leaving. If you already suffer with mental health I would say avoid at all costs but if not keep quiet as this will be used as a weakness against you constantly. Culture can feel extremely toxic and it feels like its staff vs managers. Managers wont address individuals for any wrong doing. Same smokers taking extra smoke breaks for example which they full well know who they are yet they will tar the whole workforce with the same brush. Honestly never worked anywhere this terrible. And if you have any kind of concern or issue you wish to raise you will basically get told you know where the door is. It is what it is. And what it is, is a joke.
Pros
You get paid.
Cons
Stress, Pressure/forced to work overtime, Bullying Tactics, ZERO understanding of mental health.

NIGHTS! This would be great if you're antisocial but if you want a weekday social life it's not for you.
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Cannock - 30 May 2022
I personally didn't enjoy working here but some of the staff are amazing! One of the managers went above and beyond for me but unfortunately it impacted my home life too much to continue working there. A HUGE thank you to him for that. PR If you don't like being cold, this is not the place. Unless the orders are low overtime is expected to complete all the work that comes in due to not enough staff working after 3AM. Some of the managers will be passive aggressive if you don't stay over. I was trying to get more time at home and wanted to switch to the 10-6AM shift, i was lied to by the Manager on days saying that other people wanted to be on the night shift so i asked everyone during a briefing and no one did AND the night shift was always talking about them being short staffed.
