Poor management great lads
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Chepstow - 26 July 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat pay, good lads poor management and the compulsory overtime is getting beyond a joke. The more you give the more they want. Decent benefits and you actually get sick pay after 2 years now but it was after probation when I started. It would work a lot better if it was 4on 4 off 12 hour shifts but it’s a 45 hour contract mon-fri with compulsory OT which is every night nearly
Pros
Layed back good wages
Cons
Long hours all week

I dont why I stayed so long
HGV Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Gateshead - 2 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The pay is high. The normal workers are great. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? There is a culture amongst management. Do what they say or your life is made harder. A very hard work. Believe me you could only do this for 5 years maximum before having health issues What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Terrible under continuose pressure What is a typical day like for you at the company?12 to 14 hours of handball. Food into premises. Large area covered. So high mileage aswell

Biggest waste of time in my career to date
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 17 August 2023
My typical day at work was nothing. From the day I joined I was essentially ignored and no one in my department showed any interest in me. Promises in the job interviews never materialised. I was never given more than a morsel of work. I raised this with the head of my department and nothing changed. The only positive thing I can say is that my line manager was very nice, but I’m afraid was a poor line manager. My week at work was have a call or two (sometimes no call at all) with my line manager who just explained what they had been doing. No training, essentially no work (pretty much all of this was “busy” work and seemed of no benefit to anyone), suggestions just dismissed, I have no idea why this company employed me as they just wasted both of our times. I never even spoke to multiple members of my own department. I was never given the opportunity to do anything. I didn’t join to enter a career black hole, I left to escape it, and to save my mental health which suffered due to this company and this role. The worst job at the worst company I’ve ever worked for.
Pros
Salary was competitive
Cons
Boring, career black hole

Worked here for 18 yrs, it was good and salary was good at first. I worked all through covid, treat like a lepper... Micro managed to death.. In fear for my job. Slightest thing was met with the threat of disciplinery you have to work there to understand how dreadful it is.

Hard work but good pay
Multi Drop Driver (Current Employee) - Worthing - 22 June 2023
Early start times which you would think are good so that you finish early. This isn’t the case. Once you’re done on your own route/s you then have to assist other drivers that are slack. You never know when you will finish.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Long hours

25 July 2023Thanks for stopping by. While we understand it can be frustrating needing to go back out to help others at the end of a busy day, sometimes situations arise meaning everyone needs to pitch in to get the job done as a team. This should work both ways though, with those team members who have received help also being asked to support others when they may be struggling. We'll pass your feedback along to the management team at Worthing.
No work life balance. Forced overtime.
LGV Class 2 Driver (Current Employee) - Worthing - 4 June 2023
Pretty bad year all round. They've constantly stated they want more drivers and to spread the work out more but have consistently treated every new driver so porely that they've left within a month! So drivers that stay have to do forced overtime every week to get the drops done.
Pros
Veery good pay
Cons
V long hours, and pore treatment by the office

Jobs at Bidfood
Hard work, Great pay.
HGV Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Nottingham - 5 May 2023
I worked in Nottingham as a class 2 driver and you earn every penny of the great wage that they pay. When you first start you go out with another driver for a few weeks to get the hang of it but even still, when you start alone learning the delivery points and getting the hang of arranging the back of your truck efficiently can take a while….at least a few months before you start to get a grasp of things. It is early starts and finishes but still generally 9-10 hours hard work per day…..but school holidays are much easier and shorter days. I often felt too tired to do much when I finished work, which got me down and I never really got used to though others there have no problems. The managers in the office I found to be very helpful and understanding though some drivers lined about them all the time, but I had an overall positive experience with most of them. This is a very active role that pays well. You need to be fairly fit, strong, organised and hard working to be able to do it successfully. You should also be prepared to sacrifice some of your evening family time because you’ll have to be in bed early!
Pros
Wage, good management, cheap food, good benefits
Cons
Poor work life balance, physically and mentally demanding role, long hours

6 June 2023Thanks for stopping by. We understand that our Driver role isn't for everyone, and there's no getting away from the fact that it is fast paced - with early starts and multiple deliveries to make each day. Wishing you the best of luck for the future.
Great working environment- well supported & respected.
Driver (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 18 April 2023
I have been with Bidfood, Manchester for over 18 months. As a new pass, the management aided in my development by starting me out on 7.5tonne vehicles until competent. Then progressing to 14 tonne vehicles, then finally 18/26tonne vehicles. Throughout this process I have felt well supported and now feel confident as part of the Bidfood transport fleet. The pay is very competitive and the company benefits are great.
Pros
Competitive salary
Cons
Potential long hours

Cold staff. Difficult at times impossible performance targets. Free food as advertised is mostly out of date stock
Warehouse Picker (Former Employee) - Newbridge ED - 19 March 2023
Management are incompetent and racist. The performance required us outrageous and can get so stressful as to cause mental health difficulties. 13 and change an hour doesn't add up to 29.000 a year.
Pros
Good money
Cons
Performance required is tantamount to a sweat shop

Great people to work with
HGV Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Liverpool - 19 January 2023
Job can be hard but then you are paid for it, all staff from managers to drivers are all helpful and a really good bunch of people. You work hard and get to finish earlier, opportunities to work overtime for lots more money. Sometimes wagons not loaded very well but you get used to it.

Driver
Expect to work excessively long hours and expect to be sent to help other drivers when you have completed your own workload. Management has a terrible communication problem that makes work more difficult than it needs to be.
Pros
Discounted Food
Cons
Excessive Hours
