Great coworkers, terrible managers

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The managers could see you pass out and barely work up an “are you alright?” Nothing but labour to them - there were even talks of them firing someone for considering starting a union! good for some side cash, bad for your mental health.

Poorly run

Company is expanding rapidly and it seems like whoever is running the head office has no idea what it’s actually like to work in a cafe as a barista.

Do not work here

This place is the epitome of stress, constant targets and lack of support, no training and disrespect from management, pay is atrocious I worked 100 hours and got 400 pounds, the management didn't seem to care and lack basic professionalism in gcs and meetings and emails, verbal abuse is common here throughout you're days and meetings as well as gcs, the only positive is staff that are overworked and underpaid because they understand the trauma

Productive fun workplace

Pro: Had a great team, which made it easier to work, decent pay. Con: Not as flexible as they advertise and management could improve. My hours were cut short on some weeks.

not the best experience

My management were lovely, although you could tell too much stress was being put on them by the people higher up, so sometimes they would put that stress on us lower staff members. Some really early starts and lots of people were getting fired for being incompetent & showing up late. My manager put a lot of faith in me early on which was slightly scary. we would have sudden visits from high up management where everything had to be perfect & they were very rude. there were some staff members who were lovely & working with them was a genuine pleasure, you could tell other branches had much nicer & more reliable staff. the hardest part was that we started opening weekends so doing open until close for 9 hours at the weekend isn’t fun when you’re not allowed to sit down aside from when you’re on your lunch break. and the location of the branch meant that lots of customers were rude.

Pros

free drinks, learning how to make latte art.

Cons

long hours, early starts, on your feet all day
