Do not work here stay away
Stock Replenishment (Former Employee) - Preston, Lancashire - 15 September 2023
I’ve had a fair few jobs but nothing like this place. They expect you to do other peoples work and more as well as your own and constantly have a go at you. Managers don’t do any work they just spy on you and then start giving you a mouth full for it. This is not a good place to work and the pay is just unacceptable for the work you have to do.
Cons
Long hours, bad managers and not enough money

Stock Replenishment (Former Employee) - Eastbourne, East Sussex - 17 August 2023
Terrible place to work (Eastbourne Branch) management is extremely poor. If you have 3 days of bad picking you will be immediately called up and issued a formal warning. No incentive to want to work hard, place is understaffed badly. Regularly have 1-2 people on the floor covering the whole store, whilst management sit upstairs chatting the whole day and only come down when there’s 40 pallets of bulk in goods in that needs to come out as the next delivery has already arrived. Would not recommend working here, also be careful what you say around some of the people there as they will run it straight back upstairs.
Pros
Out of date biscuits.
Cons
Too many.

Great place to work
Branch Manager (Current Employee) - England - 13 August 2023
Booker is a great place to work. Fast paced with ever changing challenges. Plenty of opportunity to develop and improve. The staff make it a great place and atmosphere to work in.

Weekly pay was good and on time

Free hot drinks and biscuits but there’s no means to progress, not a good atmosphere. You only get a couple days off over Christmas. You have to work bank holidays.
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
You have to work bank holidays. Poor/miserable atmosphere

Relatively laid back
Picker (Former Employee) - South Elmsall, West Yorkshire - 10 August 2023
If you get on with your job and get your targets no one will bother you. Everyone’s laid back and understand that the work is menial so they have a laugh and help eachother where needed

Warehouse operative
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - South Elmsall, West Yorkshire - 8 August 2023
Not the worst warehouse but they often get pay wrong. If you're owee money you have to beg for it. Can take months to get what you're owed. Management not very good, no one knows what they're doing

Overworked and under appreciated.
Order Picker (Current Employee) - Greater London - 2 August 2023
I have been here nearly three months and I must say it’s the hardest job I’ve ever had. It’s not because the job itself is hard, it’s because the company does not actually care about its staff, specifically pickers. There is literally zero incentive to continue doing such back breaking work. Pickers who are lifting heavy cases and packaging bulk olders will get paid the same as checkout assistants who just stand and walk around for the entire shift. They only give 20 days annual holidays as well as you having to work bank holidays. The turnover rate is ridiculous. For every staff they hire, one quits. It’s not sustainable long term work and the company knows but all they care about is profit. If you hit your rates, they just increase it next time. They’ll try to get you to work more hours without paying for overtime.
Pros
Free bread, biscuits, snacks etc
Cons
No incentives, poor upper management, not sustainable, very physically strenuous, underpaid, no long term progression, favouritism

Plenty of work but unorganised.
Driver (Former Employee) - Suffolk - 1 August 2023
Good colleagues to work with although the company itself is reluctant to update or invest until it’s running over its capacity and running all its staff over their contracts.

Get worked like a horse for no benefits and minimum wage. Silly pick rates. Promises that are never kept. Not about what you know, about who you know
