Paid unfairly and empty promises of hours
chef (Current Employee) - Union square Aberdeen - 22 June 2022
Poor rate of pay, won’t give you hours, don’t care about their staff as a company. Management is a shambles - everything poorly ran for the most part.

All fun and games until it’s not.
Bartender (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 13 April 2022
Only worth as a temp job, cause years at this company will push you over the edge. Stressful, customer profile shifted over the years, demands are unreasonable (serving at the bar AND running food alone during busy lunch, dragging extremely heavy furniture twice a day). Management often lost and got no clue what they’re doing. Too many new promotions and policies that are hard to keep up with, new beer that they put out there is lacking any good qualities and taste chemically, inability to order good kegs or merch cause the company is always out of stock, kitchen staff who are not looked after and hence tired and angry. Managers who don’t care about your mental state. Broken promises. Inadequate promotions to “friends” of managers. All the good staff leaving at very high pace. Also working at Brewdog kind of makes you the laughing stock of the rest of craft beer world, especially recently.

Experience depends on location
Bar Staff (Former Employee) - Manchester - 7 April 2022
Brewdog has a great work culture and there is a lot going on internally to develop and learn. However the work experience differs from site to site and mine wasnt good as the management seems overwhelmed and didnt really respond to my needs of prgression.

Low wages. low value workers
Kitchen Staff (Current Employee) - Ellon - 9 March 2022
due to lack of purpose and minimum wage even though we are responsible for peoples food, brewdog kitchens are the laughing stock of the cooking community due to the underpaid wages of cooks.

Duty Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 6 February 2022
Can be a fun company to work for. Expect to work hard. Good opportunities for progression if you're willing to put the work in. Culture can be a bit too much but team mates are always amazing.

Jobs at Brewdog
Pay reasonably well

Terrible autocratic unprofessional upper management, avoid this company at all costs, sadly the beer and brand success is ruined by the poor standards of upper management capabilities.

The best paid hospitality job for Bar staff
Duty Manager (Former Employee) - London/ Cambridge - 20 November 2021
If you are looking for a job to tide you over whilst you are looking for other things, then this is an alright one. It's fine if you're just a member of the bar team, but as a manager it isn't worth it. The upper management inspire a culture of fear and perfectionism. This isn't the BrewDog that you heard about a few years ago. The passion has left the building, and it's just like any other chain. The amount of extra things expected of you as a manager for only 15p extra an hour is not worth it. The environment is stressful and there is very little support from head office. They more often than not make the job harder with all of the promotions, events, gimmicks and dumb things they add.
Pros
Decent food, decent beer, pay for bar staff is good.
Cons
Culture, upper management, working hours, expectations.

No good managment
Management is a joke, nobody cares about anything,"headchef" hires inexpiernced people and doesn't even bother to train them,it's all about favouritism so dont expect many of your holidays to be approved unless your "part of the pact" emotionally draing and will drive any passion for hospitality out of you
Pros
Staff discounts
Cons
Bad managments

Stressful
Night Shift Worker (Former Employee) - Ellon - 6 October 2021
If you get offered work through an agency, then refuse straight away, Brewdog & it's " own " employees tend to leave the bulk of the hard work to temp agency workers, ( example, 3 agency workers doing a 7 man job for 4 days, 12 hour shifts)also do tours & people are watching you work while also taking photos without your permission, the management is terrible, hardly any h & s for temp employees, & if you don't fit in & one of the actual owners doesn't like the look of you, it's an instant dismissal ( this is word of mouth by Brewdogs own employees ) all in all, don't bother

None

Warehouse
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Eurocentral Scotland, Glasgow - 6 September 2021
Terrible pay for the variety of roles required to perform. Zero progression unless you are a friend or family of management zero care for the mental well being of employees you are forced to work over time at the same rate of pay
Pros
On site parking
Cons
Shocking management, zero care for mental well being, a lot of bigotry

Extremely fast paced environment with no work/life balance or support. Horrible company to work for
Finance (Former Employee) - Ellon, Aberdeenshire - 4 May 2021
The company are great at advertising how they include employees in decision making, and look after the well-being of their staff, however this could not be further from the truth. There is an extreme lack of support and you’re expected to work day and night (including weekends) to get jobs done, that will be sent to you at the very last minute. All this with no “thank you”, overtime pay or time back. There are no performance reviews, no structure or exploring into new ways of working to improve the way they work. If you did raise ideas or want a discussion, your thoughts were very quickly shot down, and more or less advised what you’re discussing isn’t true without any back up being looked at - such as staff being furloughed and leaving one person running the show that is still fully operating whilst bars were closed. Higher management live on another planet, and are not willing to discuss processes, mainly down to the fact they’ve no idea what anyone below them actually does, or how systems work. Lower management and team members put in a ridiculous amount of graft with no thanks or support from above. If it weren’t for these people, higher management wouldn’t have a job nor would the company still be running. For a fairly new company, the processes and systems are Stone Age, and they’d rather spend money on gold cans, last minute advertising, or one off high cost projects that make no profit for the company. They work on the bare minimum staffing, and refuse to look at the wider picture to help improve productivity or staff wellbeing. Since working from home due -
Pros
Free beer each month
Cons
Work 24/7, very little support (if any!). Awful company to work for

Great to get your CV ready for the industry
Duty Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 12 March 2021
If you want a job in the beer industry, working with Brewdog is a double edged sword. You get great training from day one (in retail, not sure how this is managed in HQ or Production/Warehouse) and are given the opportunity to get your Cicerone Certified Beer Server certificate within 3 months. I was lucky I was in a bar that was busy and the manager, at the time, was invested in her staff's progression (can not say the same for the manager that took over later). But, Brewdog have a reputation in the craft beer industry and there will be eye rolls when you say you work for Brewdog. But if you are willing to over look this and some of there awful marketing stunts that have no thought for the retail teams who actually have to implement them, then its a great company to get that initial experience on your CV. Plenty of room to grow, especially in London as there is an over saturation of bars, but can not say in other parts of the country.
Pros
Bar team bonus, discounts, good training, qualifications, free beer, events work
Cons
Too many other Brewdog bars, moving away from ethos, management are not looked after well

Good place to get into
Employee (Current Employee) - Canal - 26 February 2021
Great group of people to work with. Never the same thing from day to day. Always on the move and having to think outside the box to solve things. Good workout from always moving around.

stress and poor management
Brewer (Former Employee) - Ellon, Aberdeenshire - 22 February 2021
terrible, worked there few years as a brewer: you will find that management is allowed as many screw ups was they want which you will have to spot and fix while they take double what you get without any shift and get promoted. running over 10. miles per day is standard and you are expected to rush. toxic culture of lies and poor products: need a new beer? food flavoring, advertising several products with a specific ingredients? let's put a few grams in it or none at all. every department is understaffed so you are expected to do the job of several people whilst no one really knows what half of management does there is no progression whatsoever , you have to push for month to get a promotion that won't even raise your salary and you definitely feel underpaid, especially once you realize some take 18 times your salary and untaxed bonuses which are equivalent to your yearly pay.
Pros
production team is fun, friendly people
Cons
there should be a book about cons
