where chaos is a boss
Been working here since Bristol waste started and saw the company going down since. The only good things are life-work ballance, from 6 - 14:18, loaders typically finishing earlier, so that's a big plus, there no punch in punch out system, but if there a lot of work on the floor, they can keep people waiting till 14:18, as it still time you are paid. Overtime after paid at 1,5 rate, make sure you write it down or take a picture of overtimesheet, because they've got ability to disappear and then you will change into beggar mode and try to recover it, good luck with that. There are a lot of funny and easy going guys, who really will help and sort out problems at work better than people in charge. Plus the day going faster if you have a good crew, so you can chat to someone and laugh. Saying about management they like to use their power to try to find something on you to penalize or discipline. Some people in charge are ok and some good managers forced to follow the order what incompetent from above said. Also there are a lot of directors with fat salaries who never show their faces to workers and noone knows who they are and not once Bristol waste had a genetal meeting where directors meet work staff for 7 years it exists, saying it all. But they regularly have a massive pay rise, some equivalent to loaders yearly wage and for us as workers Bristol waste started negotiation with unions with 1%, standart every time. Work could be phisically hard, especially recycling or refuse containers, street sweeping autumn when a lot of leaves... If you say your round is too big, they would say we know and add extra work on your round to make sure it complete undoable and people will go on overtime to finish it. There're fast workers and really slow, workers who care about their work and who don't give a sh.. But with the toxic culture from management more and more people deciding to slow down, cos if you finish early and still in your working hours you'll recieve a bonus - go and help other people, in result you’re finishing late and more tired for the same monies, what the point? All Ppe provided; burger van, parking, toilets and showers onsite but on the round you are on your own, you're welcome to use bushes. Only make sure you out of truck cameras, they are live and 360° cctv and management using it all the time, a lot of people were sucked or suspended for reversing without assistant, if they don't like you they will go and check cctv on your truck for the whole day and definitely find something on you, at the same time they’re saying cctv are for the crew safety, but workers are the only one suffering. The recording could be watched back for a month, so be careful. Speaking about salaries I earned ok and big advantage is that Bristol Waste site close to my home, located in Albert road, really convenient, if not there’re plenty of jobs in severn beach but they are far so I’m enjoying concinient location

If you want a stressfull job this is for you.the hrs are ok but they always want payed per hr of work but always expect the work finished and if not you get a mouthfull.they have there favourits if your face dont fit they make your life misserable.we worked all through covid and was made to drive our vehicles out on the petrol allowance given and they gave us a £50 bonus.cost me hundreds of pounds in fuel.the company is terrible.

Terrible management
Not a great place to work. Management is awful and the supervisors aren’t much better. Lots of bullying across the board. Seems like it’s every man for himself.

Awful management
Reasonable pay but awful management from the top down to supervisors. Some roles can be repetitive. Car parking if you're early enough. Overtime available daily
