Hard work bad management
Cabin crew inflight service leader (Former Employee) - Lhr - 6 January 2023
It’s very difficult managers hard to get hold of roster changes and frequent cancellations without notice. The salary is unsustainable for living in London yet you have to live close to lhr as there is a lot of short haul with 5 am starts essential to be a car owner unless you want to spend money on taxis.
Pros
Car park lhr
Cons
Some long days

Terrible
Interim Global Inventory Manager - Customer Proposition (Former Employee) - London - 9 December 2022
Had high hopes for working at BA but didn't last long. Terrible manager, not enough training and Terrible culture. Awful place to work. Several people supportive but rest unhelpful, untrustworthy and rude. In meetings all day return to desk to face several hundred emails and then try to actually get work done.
Pros
Free flights
Cons
Culture, manager

decent place to work
Telesales Advisor (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 16 November 2022
all ok to work here depeends which department you work in staff benifits are good also with business class flights. Hours are ok with working on compressed so that means you get 3 days off but more hour in the day. You can seem to climb the ladder well also. In a nice location aswell based in didsbury. Staff are all really nice but sometimes you can get the difficult calls coming in. Even in disruption

Jobs at British Airways
Can be tiring
Cabin Crew (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 30 October 2022
All the colleagues are very nice but can be really tiring due to working unusual hours It takes a long time for changes to happen, unions are toxic to each other Overall it’s a great job if you live near the airport, because commuting can be hard
Pros
Cheap tickets, days off during weekdays
Cons
Long hours, stressful

A lifestyle.
Customer Service Leader (Former Employee) - London Heathrow Airport, Greater London - 29 October 2022
A dream job but very hard work. A thirty year career allowed me to travel worldwide, work on various aircraft and gain skills that will forever serve me well.

Soul stealing job
Social Media Executive (Former Employee) - Newcastle Upon Tyne - 29 October 2022
It may sound nice to work here as if you want travel benefits go for it. However, very very poor management, young people in management who just aren’t cut for the jobs. The job is boring, stressful and you have some one watching you every second of the day to ensure you’re working so don’t take too long at the toilet or you will be questioned. I would not advise anyone I liked or valued to apply for British airways. Very poorly ran call centre.
Pros
Lunch vouchers, and some days home working
Cons
Inflexible hours, poor management, will take your soul

Looks fun on social media, exhausting behind the scenes!
Cabin Crew (Former Employee) - Gatwick Airport - 28 October 2022
The training process is intense and stressful. Then you start flying and go brain dead as the day to day serving customers food and drink is pretty much all you do. Can be very stressful in Economy as the product they offer is so poor. Can be very embarrassing sometimes handing out the food.

Dreadful Company to work for
Sales, Service & Retention Dept (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 3 October 2022
A company still trading on past glories. No investment in systems, working environment or their staff. Restricting earning capacity by stopping you calling your regulars and commissions reduced since I started from 1.25% to 0.3%. Thats is £1250 commission down to £300 for every £100k brought in. Sales incentives where you can literally win a bar of chocolate or 15 minutes toil. Yes COVID has had an impact, but company has recently returned to a profit and yet paying lowest commission rates ever. Staff travel is there, but if you are not earning money, how can you afford that, especially given current climate. I have been very successful there, hitting targets given but have NEVER felt so undervalued. BA wants to be seen to be a great company to work for, but they have a chasm to cross before they get anywhere near that. Tragic really as it should be such an amazing place to work.
Pros
Free Parking
Cons
Everything else, pay, systems, environment, meaningful recognition, the list goes on.

Employees are what keep you here
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear - 28 September 2022
Employees support and help each other. Salary does not reflect work load. Great staff benefits for travel. Long working hours. Training is very intense

Good lifestyle

Company has deteriorated
CABIN CREW (Former Employee) - Cabin crew - 22 September 2022
Was a fantastic company to work for. Now it’s all about shareholders and a race to the bottom. Reduction in wages and increase in hours. They have no respect for employees.
Pros
Travel the world
Cons
Long hours. Not work life balance

Toxic working environment
Customer Experience Representative (Former Employee) - Heathrow, Greater London - 8 September 2022
Micromanagement of employees and favoritism between colleagues which makes the culture toxic. Hardest part of the job is the long hours and the most enjoyable parts are the salary and staff benefits.
Pros
Premium hourly pay to cover unsocial hours
Cons
Long hours
