Not bad place to work. Most departments are doing nowt whilst others are working like dogs. Nothing ever changes. Off shore does easy work whilst UK picks up the complaints

Busy, but very enjoyable

Good place to work. I enjoyed traveling across the north west instead of staying in the same spot everyday. Pay is also decent. Can't fault the job at all.

Lied To From The Start | Poor Management (Team Leaders) | Targets

My job is a Customer Service Agent on General Enquiries, applied as the job advert stated finishing at 5pm Mon-Fri working from home, with once a month attendance at Cardiff office, what a lie this was!! We were/are lied to constantly from the start and Management / Team Leaders deliberately hide the truth from you, then give you bad news at the last minute.Team Leaders are not honest, not transparent, not approachable, and most importantly they need to be trained on how to line manage people. They seem to be put in the positions without the qualifications to back it up nor the basic skills.Training needs to be changed completely. The systems are shockingly bad, they need updating and fixed, its ridiculous. To top it off you are constantly monitored and pressured to 'wrap' calls quickly; and scored down for the most ridiculous things.

Bad management, systems with many faults and out-dated, expect too much from you, most callers are very unhappy and angry

All about targets, not about quality its about quantity they rather have the customer on hold but wrap and AHT should be in limits. register most calls as complaints for targets. WFH, attend office once a month, Very stressful when ask for help advised to check knowledge hub, fast paced, no support. Use a system called salesforce, very intrusive, Salary may attract to apply,but not worth the stress.

Once a great place, but now a waste of space!

If you are thinking of working for this company as an engineer...or indeed if you are working as an engineer for them already ask yourself why! You already have the skills to work for yourself. This will mean you reap all the rewards that your hard work deserves. The management are not interested in you as a person. You are just a money making cog in their ever increasing profit. Focus is always on performance (money you've made the company by what products you have managed to hook or by crook) rather than doing a job well and making the customer happy, as was once the way they worked. Management structure has changed time and time again. There are now 'team' managers with little or no man management skills. They are great at dotting I's and crossing T's, and figure juggling, but very poor in real management areas.A once great company to work for and be proud to do so is a shadow of itself. A successful selling culture determines whether you will be liked, successful and tolerated by management. Work life balance is a phrase they love to use, but the reality is different.Caring for the well fare of employees and especially those that suffer with mental health issues is something they profess to care about. The reality is they will single you out and bring attention to 'poor performance' as a reason to make you feel unwanted, and your services unrequired.Top end management have no idea as to the local level management and the way they treat individuals. Have they ever followed up on why engineers have left them over the years?Fixing boilers and getting heating -

long hours at short notice, Selling culture to attain performance levels, Poor/inexperienced management at local levels, Encouraged to skip lunch breaks to get workload reduced, Constantly monitored by phone tracking, van tracking, computer tracking, the list can go on but I'm now bored with this company!

I could not wait to finish

The best thing to happen was redundancy . When I started the job was satisfying and enjoyable. From the 1995 onwards it was a miserable place to work with unhelpful and bullying management.I still keep in touch with old work colleagues and they inform me that it has progressively got worse.

Really stressful dealing with angry customers all the time.

I wouldn't take the job back as it stressed me out so much with constant irritated and frustrated customers, taking it out on you for the company's faults.

Avoid working for centrica/British Gas

Working for British Gas used to be good. Not any more. Your contract is worthless. They ripped up everyone’s contracts and sacked everyone who wouldn’t sign the new one which meant working 150 hours more for a lot less money. The work/life balance is non existent and they don’t care about individuals. The micro management of engineers creates very bad morale. It’s not a good work place if you value your mental health. In achievable targets and penalties for not hitting those targets. Avoid working for British Gas at all costs.

Fast paced, stressful but rewarding

Good overall company to work for. Adviser roles can be very stressful and complicated systems can make the job difficult at times. Lovely people to work with.

Fast paced customer service roles

I worked here in 2004 as a customer service advisor there was initially 2 weeks training and then you were put into a team. You were expected to promote Homecare breakdown services on all your calls.

Clicky management, only the people in the circle succeed. Terrible help for mental health issues. Toxic environment and poorly managed. Very school like atmosphere

Good place to work

Good place to work, salary is better than most however management aren't great and used to be a lot better. People you work with are great. There are too many changes going on at the moment for things to be consistent.

Great company to work for.

Great Company. Good shift options available for work life balance. Good Managers. Enough downtime/breaks. Good perks such as pension, commission. Occasional overtime which was well paid.

Terrible company to work for

Nothing like the class leading company it once was.Amateur/ unprofessional management. Work life valence terrible, expected to cover all over Devon, your working day starts at your 1st job. That could be 60 miles away..... travel in your own time

Weak Management, poor Culture.

Face fits culture, don't ruffle feathers. Engineers are micro managed and chasing pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. Morale is low. Benefits are good.

Stressful and you always feel like your never doing enough. Customers are awful before the service is awful

Used to be a great company to work for many years ago. Now not so much. They care for their staff as much as I care for the birds that attack my bins!!!! Thought I'd be here for chance!!

Stressful run by incompetent bosses

Stressful job, a company that lets you work really hard all month to get bonuses then they con you out of it saying you underperformed on a call ! Nothing else to add.

Good place to work

Really good company to work for, really enjoyed working here. Office hours quite flexible and the money was OK really. Quite a pleasant atmosphere in office. Managers were OK and the team was really good.
