There are far worse places to be.
Technical Service Engineer (Former Employee) - Buckinghamshire - 30 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Having stuck with the company 42 years, with many ups and downs. Overall I was happy to be there, decent pay ,leave and a lot of good people. Not to mention a fair pension. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Time allocation for some off the work could be stressful, especially when extra travel was needed.

Jobs at British Gas
Stressful and micromanaged
Domestic Gas Engineer (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 29 November 2023
Too many weekends expected and no flexibility which in turn creates poor work life balance. Too many jobs also expected to be done every day causing poor customer experience.

Decent pay
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 25 November 2023
Decent pay in comparison to similar jobs, plus a good commission. Systems out of date and somewhat poor management. Occasionally opportunities for career progression and/or secondments.

Constant Change
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 10 November 2023
Working for the company for several years and everything is always changing, down to management to procedures, targets. One day departments are here, the next they’re not. Employees opinions don’t count and the business would rather save money pushing vital services off shore. It use to be an enjoyable place to work with great management and people but everything has changed in the last few years for the worst.

Comissioning issues
Smart Energy Expert (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 6 November 2023
Smet2 commissioning issues on Arquiva network are regular lots of black spots in areas and cellars Targeted on completion rate even tho you can need jobs raising due to smart docs not on headend coms hub replaces take forever and need multiple jobs raising and ctap is not protected best off just cancelling them down as take way to long Make good money on ctap when jobs comission go to plan

Under staffed
Electrician (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 5 November 2023
Over worked and under paid. Expect to work weekends, bank Holidays as they are classed as normal working days or else 20% salary cut. If anything goes wrong the engineers are the first to blame. If there is an issue the management are quick to blame the engineers or find out what more they can do. Engineers have sales targets for products they have little or no knowledge about.

Customer Resolution Agent
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 1 November 2023
The sysyems at wrok break every day and it is impossiuble to complete basic tasks. You are marked on whether someone calls back but when the system does not work they have to call back and then that is somehow my issue when the IT people do not seem to know what they are doing. They have implemented a new computer system that does not work at all and is not ready for use. The only thing that works is taking payments. Changing details or do anything else always leads to have to raise an IT iusse and the cae is then left in your pile for you to handle but you are barely given any time to complete them. They make you ask every customer to leave a score for the company on every call which is ridiculous and then your bonus is based on that The most embarrassed i have ever been in a job because I cannot help customers do the most basic things. Today i could not raise a form to get someone to help because even the form did not work. I really wanted to like this job but there is no support for any issue you have and you are told raise a form which today does not even work. I spend my day apologising because of how terrible the system is and leaving people on hold while i desperately search for a solution which is always raise a from. The aforementioned form that today is also broken. They care more about Ofgem than they do their own customers because having to make repeat calls to a customer service line that has a 45 minute wait just to change a small detail is ridiculous.
Pros
Its mon - fri
Cons
The computer system and total lack of support.

Hard work, read these reviews
Smart Meter Engineer (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 31 October 2023
Seems like a good company, but also seems like you are constantly managed to hit targets and upsell. Interview seems really tough. Think about it before applying.

Great place to start
Smart Energy Expert (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 October 2023
Very good training especially if you are new to the industry. Less workload compared to other firms. Good work life balance. But be prepared to sell boiler leads and other products in addition to your technical role

No one cares about the voice of the company
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Remote - 19 October 2023
You really don’t get paid enough over the pressure over KPI’s and managers giving you new job roles every month. The fact our bonuses relied on if the sales team could sell a customer a product after we transferred them is a bit of a joke. They like to act like it’s good pay and you have all these benefits but it’s literally minimum wage. They give you new jobs to do every few months , which inevitably piles up but your pay doesn’t? Minimum wage to do my job AND 2 other peoples? No. The managers and uppers make decisions that are not possible for us to do/don’t actually work but they don’t care about our opinion. They don’t listen because we’re beneath them but we’re the voice of your company. We’re the people the customers actually speak to. A little more respect and a pay rise is due in that job. It’s incredibly draining. You hardly get trained in anything and they get angry when you don’t hit unreasonably high targets. The ONLY good thing about this job was that i could work from home.
