Indeed featured review

I’ve worked at Bromford a while now. Unfortunately I don’t work in a main office and I’m not friends with any managers so will never get the opportunity to progress through the company. New influx of managers at director level have little or no housing experience and are trying to implement corporate strategies and policies.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

Long hours Lack of progression Departments not taking ownership

Thoroughly enjoyable experience

I was only on a short term contract 5 months it was office based one day and remote working the rest of the week. Work was interesting and satisfying. Bromford is a great place to work and it definitely has its’ employees welfare at heart.

Frustrating experience

Though many of the people I worked with certainly mean't well, and did (for the most part) try to help thoughout the experience, unforuntately communication between different departments, lack of ownership of certain decisions and mistakes from other people in the company led to customer's being left in the dark and getting an unsatisfactory experience from the housing association.I had many instances of customers being left with very difficult living situations, and many of these issues were exaserbated by a lack of communication between departments and what seemed to be a general apathy of many people at the company. Really disappointing, as lot of people in my department really meant well, but were let down a lot of the time.

Pros

Good training, Collaborative Work Environment

Cons

Lots of outdated systems, Lack of communication between departments led to massive issues at company, Apathy amongst staff, Long standing issues with upper management

No Time for You

Struggle to switch off from your day to day job, pay is not reflected in the role you are expected to do. Lack of communication throughout the company causing further issues when dealing with customers. Very stressful at times

Interesting work.

Loved my job here, unfortunately COVID killed the workload and I had to seek alternative employment. The time spent was something different every day and it made the week fly past. If I could go back and do that job again - I would in a heartbeat.

Pros

Lots of perks included in the salary, own van & fuel card

Cons

None.

Poor management, poor pay. Top management have no clue about the people who live in their homes.

I would avoid working for Bromford at all costs. I have been with Bromford for over 4 years, I am looking to leave Bromford. It’s become a very toxic environment to work in. Unhappy customers and unhappy staff. The abuse from customers is constant.

Pros

Discounts for some retailers. Coffee card

Cons

Underpaid Stressful Bad working environment Bad management

Awful

Poor management throughout the company. Higher management have no idea about their properties or customers. Line managers don’t really care as long as they can make themselves look good. Very little chance of progression.

Pros

-Benefits -Easy work

Cons

-poor pay -over expecting customers -poor office communications

Terrible place to work after restructure

I’ve been at bromford for four years now ,the first two years were great .I thought I would remain here until retirement , but now feel I want to leave .Unfortunately there has been a massive restructure and merger with two other companies. This for me has made it impossible to work here , and I’m not alone in my thoughts .I would warn anybody about thinking of working here DO NOT it’s a machine run by ruthless middle management who only care about targets and not the wellbeing of there employees .It’s a constant battle with a failing system ,and they are constantly on your back Definitely one of the worst companies I’ve work for

Pros

I’m allowed to go home in the evening

Cons

Long hours, long travel, constantly watching the tracker, poor management

Outgrown company capabilities.

A new CEO took over in 2019/20 and there have been many changes across the organisation since. The impact has been somewhat negative in many areas as it is felt that too many changes in too many areas have happened all at once.Customer satisfaction is at an all time low, unfortunately, so is colleague morale.Executives are said to be working to alleviate many of the issues, but so far there has been little change. The reward scheme is good, similar to other organisations. Pay increases are inconsistent and salary is below all other Housing Associations by several thousand pa, for the same role.

Pros

Staff benefits. Flexible working.

Cons

Workload. Communication. Salaries and increases.

Avoid

avoid this place. Senior management dont have a clue you are just a number nowadays. Senior managers protect their own. Treat you unfairly they have a ceo who is being hood winked by others. This place is vile now to work for. They have people who are teflon vecause they know ceo they cant be touched no matter what. They dont like you being bold honest and challenging although thsts their dna. Shafted the workers on their prp this year said in their report they hit all their targets and thars whats in a legal document but wont pay because they told their staff they didnt but the ceo took a 13% pay rise, shocking

Pros

Non

Cons

Poor place to work

Official response from Bromford

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are sorry you feel this way about Bromford. We work hard to ensure all our colleagues understand issues and work these through, ensuring we can address all matters as they arise. We also offer several different channels to ensure colleagues can and do have a voice in the business.

Be cautious!

Working at Bromford in the department I worked for , is ok for the people who just want a wage without a future . If your happy to be seen but not heard , you will fit in .But don't try and give constructive ideas and step on toes. They need better management at mid and lower level .The training is pretty good from outside the company .The wage is average, holiday pay is good .Becareful, if your face don't fit and you try and help in leadership and better ideas , You could find yourself ticked off aprenhended and even lose your Job.I'm sure the directors mean well , but you have hurdles in the way from mismanagement below .Be very causious, best just as I said be seen but not heard.

Pros

Average wage, Good holiday allowance.

Cons

Beware of middle management.

Great work colleagues and relaxed working atmosphere

Great culture and supportive management. Great benefits and colleagues are very supportive to one another. Sometimes you have to work long hours to get the work done but that wasn't necessarily an issue. Great flexibility with workplace and hours. No set times for working as long as you produce results.

Pros

Free hot drinks

Cons

Can sometimes work long hours to get the work done but not too often

Evolving business. Well respected in the sector of social housing.

Typical day - respond to emails, book in meetings and 121s for CFO and/or team. Minute any meetings booked in and produce summary notes to be shared. Raise purchase orders and/or receipt invoices against purchase orders already in the system. General admin work as required. Booking of accommodation and/or travel as required. Every day is different.

Thank you very much for sharing your views with us on Indeed, and for the five-star rating! Glad to hear all is well with you and you are enjoying your role with Bromford.

Terrible company to work for.

Honestly this company has fantastic employees however management do not recognise this. I suffered bullying from my Manager which lead me to leave the organisation.

Poor culture

You’re just a number. Don’t buy into the “team” culture. It’s a clique. Don’t bother going the extra mile if you’re not part of the clique. Only the chosen will be forgiven for any mistakes or sickness - or pretty much be allowed to get away with murder

We are really disappointed with your feedback. Bromford is proud of the positive workplace culture we have and would want all colleagues to feel that they are happy in their work and getting all the support that they need. I am sorry to read this is not how you felt. If you would be comfortable speaking to us confidentially about this, please contact us so we can discuss this further and look into the matter. You can email us at recruitment@bromford.co.uk
