Indeed featured review

A new CEO took over in 2019/20 and there have been many changes across the organisation since. The impact has been somewhat negative in many areas as it is felt that too many changes in too many areas have happened all at once.Customer satisfaction is at an all time low, unfortunately, so is colleague morale.Executives are said to be working to alleviate many of the issues, but so far there has been little change. The reward scheme is good, similar to other organisations. Pay increases are inconsistent and salary is below all other Housing Associations by several thousand pa, for the same role.

Pros

Staff benefits. Flexible working.

Cons

Workload. Communication. Salaries and increases.

Awful

Poor management throughout the company. Higher management have no idea about their properties or customers. Line managers don’t really care as long as they can make themselves look good. Very little chance of progression.

Pros

-Benefits -Easy work

Cons

-poor pay -over expecting customers -poor office communications

Terrible place to work after restructure

I’ve been at bromford for four years now ,the first two years were great .I thought I would remain here until retirement , but now feel I want to leave .Unfortunately there has been a massive restructure and merger with two other companies. This for me has made it impossible to work here , and I’m not alone in my thoughts .I would warn anybody about thinking of working here DO NOT it’s a machine run by ruthless middle management who only care about targets and not the wellbeing of there employees .It’s a constant battle with a failing system ,and they are constantly on your back Definitely one of the worst companies I’ve work for

Pros

I’m allowed to go home in the evening

Cons

Long hours, long travel, constantly watching the tracker, poor management

Avoid

avoid this place. Senior management dont have a clue you are just a number nowadays. Senior managers protect their own. Treat you unfairly they have a ceo who is being hood winked by others. This place is vile now to work for. They have people who are teflon vecause they know ceo they cant be touched no matter what. They dont like you being bold honest and challenging although thsts their dna. Shafted the workers on their prp this year said in their report they hit all their targets and thars whats in a legal document but wont pay because they told their staff they didnt but the ceo took a 13% pay rise, shocking

Be cautious!

Working at Bromford in the department I worked for , is ok for the people who just want a wage without a future . If your happy to be seen but not heard , you will fit in .But don't try and give constructive ideas and step on toes. They need better management at mid and lower level .The training is pretty good from outside the company .The wage is average, holiday pay is good .Becareful, if your face don't fit and you try and help in leadership and better ideas , You could find yourself ticked off aprenhended and even lose your Job.I'm sure the directors mean well , but you have hurdles in the way from mismanagement below .Be very causious, best just as I said be seen but not heard.

Pros

Average wage, Good holiday allowance.

Cons

Beware of middle management.

Great place to work

Working at Bromford for 10 years, its been the best move I made and wish I had of worked for Bromford sooner. CEO throughout the pandemic has kept in touch with colleagues. Lots of perks, flexible benefits with options to buy an extra weeks holiday. Flexible working, lots training available. I work with customers in neighbourhoods. A busy role , no day is the same but I love it. I love to help customers and seeing them thrive.Lots of opportunities for promotion within the company. My manager is great and Bromford is all for good relationships and looking after customer and colleagues well being.

Pros

teas/ coffees provided/ Flexible benefits/buying an extra weeks holiday/

Great work colleagues and relaxed working atmosphere

Great culture and supportive management. Great benefits and colleagues are very supportive to one another. Sometimes you have to work long hours to get the work done but that wasn't necessarily an issue. Great flexibility with workplace and hours. No set times for working as long as you produce results.

Pros

Free hot drinks

Cons

Can sometimes work long hours to get the work done but not too often

Evolving business. Well respected in the sector of social housing.

Typical day - respond to emails, book in meetings and 121s for CFO and/or team. Minute any meetings booked in and produce summary notes to be shared. Raise purchase orders and/or receipt invoices against purchase orders already in the system. General admin work as required. Booking of accommodation and/or travel as required. Every day is different.

Thank you very much for sharing your views with us on Indeed, and for the five-star rating! Glad to hear all is well with you and you are enjoying your role with Bromford.

Terrible company to work for.

Honestly this company has fantastic employees however management do not recognise this. I suffered bullying from my Manager which lead me to leave the organisation.

Poor culture

You’re just a number. Don’t buy into the “team” culture. It’s a clique. Don’t bother going the extra mile if you’re not part of the clique. Only the chosen will be forgiven for any mistakes or sickness - or pretty much be allowed to get away with murder

We are really disappointed with your feedback. Bromford is proud of the positive workplace culture we have and would want all colleagues to feel that they are happy in their work and getting all the support that they need. I am sorry to read this is not how you felt. If you would be comfortable speaking to us confidentially about this, please contact us so we can discuss this further and look into the matter. You can email us at recruitment@bromford.co.uk

A lot of changes

A changing business as Bromford, Merlin and Severn Vale housing associations join together. Good learning opportunities. I was able to complete the courses I wanted that were relevant to my job. Management are not always very supportive.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Indeed. Whilst there has been, and continues to be, lots of change at Bromford, it's good to know that you are embracing the learning opportunities and completing a number of courses along the way. Please make sure that you are taking the time to speak to your line-manager, and that they are taking the time to spend with you too. If you need to speak to somebody else, be sure to speak to another leader, somebody in L&D or HR, if needs be. There is plenty of support on-hand for all colleagues during this period of change and transformation.

Untrustworthy

Salary is poor based on all the work you do. All jobs for other departments are given to you to complete even when you have never done their job. You are expecting to know everything with little help, they expect you to search for the information. The departments are very unhelpful. Managers dont help and rarely listen to concerns. Underpaid by far for what they expect of you as coach and undervalued

If your face fits.....

Work is interesting but can be demanding. There is a culture of sucking up to managers gets you the best jobs, promotion etc whether you deserve it or not. Claim to be employee friendly but have policies that do not reflect this

Pros

Reasonable salary, holiday allowance

Cons

Part time working is not allowed, if your face doesn’t fit you get nowhere

Great Place to Work

The job is varied and can be challenging but the people you work with are really supportive. The induction and training is concise and the processes in place to complete work are effective and easy to follow.

Ok

It’s ok to work at Bromford the only thing is if your face doesn’t fit you have had it. Otherwise everything was ok. I did office duties and shop duties but it was demanding

Thank you for your review. Sorry that you feel this, but please be assured, this certainly is not the case. We always try to see the best in people, and those that work hard are recognised and rewarded accordingly, which is part of the new benefits package that we offer to all colleagues.

Great place to work

Relaxed, but attentive atmosphere, many good ways of working, caring compassionately about the people that we support, and promoting independence. A team based on working together well.

Toxic culture

It’s all well and good if your face fits.... progression is assured of not be prepared to be overlooked and left to fester. The changes in the company management have killed the great place to work

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way, and sorry things didn't work out for you at Bromford. There have been some considerable changes within the organisation during the last 18 months, and we do understand that change can feel uncomfortable and unsettling, but we hope that you were given the right support during this time.
