Depending on your department but service desk receive an annual performance review against several metrics. During these reviews, depending on your performance, a salary increase is given. Other departments are subject to their leaders.
The performance review is annual and takes about an hour. If you work hard all year you will be graded and compared to others and forced to fit a grading bell curve to "normalise" everyone. The most common result: you "meet expectations" and get a below inflation rise.
