Found those with good ideas were a threat to senior management.Added workload with no support or guidance.Sometimes the needs of the service users were not met.Good staff teams.Recently had high turn over of staff.
Good pay, lovely teams
Working for this organisation undeniably has its pressures given the nature of the work, unfortunately those pressures are increased internally via poor management, communication between ‘departments’ often via demoralising emails when often the option to ‘talk’ presents itself daily. Staff are consistently overworked and under supported. No retention of staff or replacement of those who leave (more than 10 in the short time spent there) when issues are highlighted this is seen as a personal attack rather than feedback for positive change and position in the workplace changes to a very cold and unwelcoming place to work. Discord and unrest is widespread throughout the staff and in other projects. The support of the vulnerable service users was often not met due to consistent understaffing.
You don’t have to work in main office with unwelcoming HR/management
Disappointing support throughout the organisation
The charity offer a wide and varied range of services. The training opportunities and induction programme have been outstanding. The staff are excellent and it is a welcoming and friendly environment to work in. There are many opportunities for career development within the charity and staff have a range of benefits including: private health cash plans. The holidays are very generous and increase quickly with time in service. The charity have a dedicated leadership team with a clear vision and staff are very much involved in shaping the future of the work that the service provide. Caer Las has provided a full and comprehensive training programme for my development, with leading practitioners in their field.
Highly valued. Great work life balance. Fantastic staff.

Recently joined Caerlas after working for another 3rd sector employer for 10 years and I made the right decision moving to Caerlas Las, I’ve had an amazing first month meeting staff from across Carmarthen, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot - who are professional, committed and passionate about delivery the good quality services to vulnerable people. Don’t let a small minority of negative people influence you if your applying for a job, apply & find out for yourself.
Positive culture & client focus
Loads of different job opportunities and services if your interested in working with people who care and what to make a difference. Great training, opportunities to progress, 35 hour working week and great holiday benefits!
Interesting and rewarding work in an organisation making a real difference. Caer Las is moving forward and as evidenced by some other reviews, progress is not always popular! Management take the charity's best interests very seriously and work hard to put the clients first. There is lots of training and development and you are encouraged to continuously improve. I would definitely work for Caer Las again.
Caer Las is moving forward and puts clients first
Worked as a support worker, liked my team. Everyone very supportive. Busy days, working with really chaotic clients, but good fun. Most people seemed really friendly and go out of way too help you. Lots of staff training, and pay was good.
Flexible, lots of give and take
Funding always seems under question
I have worked for various organisations in the sector, and Caer Las compares well against the others. There was a generous in-house training programme in place, and some very supportive colleagues. Management treated staff fairly, though there were quite a few staff members who seemed to love to whinge! Overall, it was great.
Training opportunities, friendly, informal, staff conference
On the contrary to some of other reviews I highly enjoyed my time at Caer Las, I was made to feel part of the team and never had any issues with management or other staff members who were always available if I needed advice or help. There is plenty of training and lots of investment into the organisation and staff. I would recommend working there to anyone interested.
Training, Interesting and friendly
