I worked for calor over 2 winter seasons , all they ask is you follow the procedures correctly. Earnings are great when it’s cold and average in the summer. You’re not guaranteed full time work because the job is reliant on the weather , hot weather = very quiet and obviously colder weather = extremely busy. What I do know is due to working with fuel they have 2 way cameras in the cab and you cannot use your own phone whilst driving and if the office call you on cab phone you will need to park up before answering or calling back, so can be a very isolated job.
Very isolated job
Let's just say they aren't the most diverse company going mangement echoes this behaviour terrible place avoid at all costs the environment there is so toxic they barely a speak to employees no clear management style from top to bottomHuge workload and barely praised for any achievements
A very demanding job physically which I enjoy, although eventually your body pays the price. Can be a 1 off load all hand balled, to 15/20 drops of various amounts of cylinders to mix of industry/stockist/domestic customers. The cylinders vary in weight from 10kg up to 85/95kg.You are expected to risk assess delivery site and refuse delivery if unsafe although evidence is expected.Big part of job is installing cylinders to domestic customers which can be difficult, and then there is the traveling community and there dogs.Wagons are all very well maintained and well equipped for job( full length side lift and tail lift) although generally Daf.Class 2 nowadays are generally swb so expect to go any where.Good t&c’s and pay is on the good side for class 2. Company is very big on h&s and in cab cameras. Biggest gripe is unpaid breaks, if you can manage it physically it’s a good but demanding job. Recently relocated from Blackpool to Preston and no one left. In general lads all help each other out, and a genarally happy place even in office
Overtime at time and half and plenty of it. Not just driving job
Demanding job physically and allways outside in weather
Had few isues after passing out was working long hours other drivers werent very helpfull and agency got long days over full time drivers so expected very difficult to find places sometimes
Pros plenty of ot
Long hours 12to 13 hours
Had a good job at calor as yardman, job was hard work some days and other days it was easy, management was good and fair I also worked in offices when the yard work was done or quiet, made a wrong choice by leaving.
Good work atmosphere
Long hrs sometimes
The management was terrible, the pay rate was awful for the amount of work you had to do, get better pay in retail, doing half the work. Wouldn’t recommend this job to anyone, there’s a reason they have a high number of people leaving each year
It's a joy to work for Calor. The people are all focused on giving 1st class customer service and the company value each team member like family. I cannot recommend enough.
Wonderful atmosphere to work in
There is a lot to learn but a joy
1st Year was good but After a huge Management overhaul established Calor Managers were made redundant and then replaced with inexperienced Managers from health and safety taking over
Health and Safety PPE spot on
Please stay away from this company I’ve worked for some fuel companies before and this is the worst of them all . When you talk about health and safety they say it’s is paramount to them but send you out in 2 foot of snow . There’s a saying customers are first priority but you look after your employees and they look after your customers
Muppets all over the top end of the company
a very poor company to work for they Favourites employees always give broken promises basically there a all for one company the pay may seem okay but you have to work work work to feel like you have achieved anything you get no thankyou the managers from all departments are stuck up and only think about them selfs the guy that runs the site will get rid of you just for looking at him funny (no joke its happend) if you dont pick the job up within a week well i wish you luck because they will make it harder for you to learn
cheap lunches is the only pro
poor management, expect way to much, will avoid/bodge things
Management is shocking, once they know your good at a certain job they will keep you on that job then you will get bored, when there's plenty of other jobs in the plant you can do. They don't give a toss about you or your well being, all they care about is production, they push you and push you to hit a target. The only thing that's decent about the place is optional overtime, but even then sometimes they try to make you feel bad for not doing overtime.
Had three roles within Calor and have enjoyed every one of them. Calor are a good company to work for, but they are unfortunately trading in a mature market where the long term future is uncertain, plus looking at other similar roles elsewhere, they are paying approximately 4-5k below what's on offer elsewhere.
Great place to work Great team of people Interesting jobs and constantly changing, keeping you on your toes. Bad points, shifts are all over the place, work life balance is poor, we work 6 out of 7 days constantly because we need money and can't keep technicians as salary is poor, compared places in the area. And they don't deal with gas
