Love being part of a students journey! Team members are supportive. Admin processes are slow. Canteen is good value for money. Beautiful city to work in

Jobs at Canterbury Christ Church University
Great employer
Administrator (Former Employee) - Canterbury, Kent - 31 July 2023
I enjoyed my time withing at CCCU. Support workers seem to have fewer benefits than academic staff, which annoyed me, for example the number of annual leave days.

Nice people, good perks
Lecturer (Former Employee) - Canterbury - 16 November 2022
It's generally a nice place to work and my own team is friendly. Since covid it has felt quite isolated and the campus is no longer buzzing. Quite a hands-off management style which can be good but hard to know where to go for help if you need it.

It's a good place to work
Sessional Lecturer (Former Employee) - Canterbury, Kent - 15 November 2022
Generally speaking it's a good place to work. Salary was okay depends on your job levels and department you worked with. Staff were nice and helpful. Relaxed and friendly colleagues. The location is great very close to the city centre.

Great I suppose if you are friends with Management and Directors.
Student Support Worker. (Current Employee) - Canterbury - 13 August 2022
I had hoped that working at CCCU would have been enjoyable, unfortunately it is the complete opposite. There is a lack of support and guidance from management and leads. The whole place reeks of nepotism; directors are only interested in themselves, the managers are only interested in pleasing the directors so they can have an easy life at the expense of everyone else. Avoid working at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Great Managers
General Assistant (Former Employee) - Canterbury, Kent - 24 July 2022
Worked at a General assistant in the coffee shops and food courts. Lovely workplace. Staff and managers are very polite and treat you with respect which is nice. Some senior members can be judgemental and gossipy which is natural. Pay is good but given current events is not enough. I place no blame on them for this though. Mix of full timers and students who were friendly enough.

Good volunteering experience
Student Representative (Former Employee) - Canterbury - 26 June 2022
This was a good experience alongside doing a degree. I enjoyed listening to students and seeing them express their thoughts. There was a good level of discussion and interest in improvement and progressive reform about degree programmes.

Terrible systems, nice staff
Administrator (Current Employee) - Canterbury, Kent - 7 February 2022
Processes from the dark ages, friendly staff who are overworked. Lots of good will from staff. Seems to be a lot of turnover due to low salary and high workload.

Good place to work
Programme Administrator (Former Employee) - Canterbury - 29 December 2021
Good place to work. Management are supportive and the work is varied. Workload is busy and there is always something to be doing. The work life balance is good and the hours are standard full time

Great Project, spoiled by inexperienced management
Data Consultant (Former Employee) - Canterbury City Centre, Kent - 19 January 2021
Worked with a talented team, who with the right guidance, could have delivered anything. Management, is poor, unrealistic and blinkered in it's approach to everything. My project took a turn for the worse when its management structure was unsupported, and highly paid management consultant types were emplyed.
Pros
One of the best teams I have ever worked with
Cons
Blame culture, and failure to understand project

Brilliant experience working with the staff at CCCU. A great and inspiring approach to teaching. Looking out for every individual student's needs. Help provided to ensure that I settled in. Creative freedom to apply my research into student's learning and practice.

Bad Place To Work
Administrator (Former Employee) - Administrator - 20 February 2020
Bullying managers, corrupt department. No protection for staff who make unofficial complaints about incompetent managers who cant manage, but can bully effectively and make your life a misery whilst you are there to the point where you feel the only choice you have is to leave . Managers who lie professionally and get away with it because the upper management are too weak to address long standing incompetence. Not a good experience at all ! ! ! .

Good place to work
Payroll Supervisor (Former Employee) - Canterbury - 23 January 2020
Worked here for 9 years. Good company culture. Cared about their employees. Only negative is communication from senior management to staff, but thats probably true about all big companies.

Competitive and hardwork, yet rewarding.
Data Entry (Former Employee) - Canterbury City Centre, Kent - 20 November 2019
My time working for CCCU was enjoyable, however the area is expensive to live in so higher wages are required to make working there long term sustainable.
