Trainee Deputy Manager in Kent
Don't do it.
Expect you to work on your days off. Despite being told that Training would take 6 weeks my training never started. Store manager had favourite people that he would prefer to work with than others and he would always take sides of particular people. Had team members "keeping and eye on me" because he obviously didn't trust me. Anything that went wrong was made to seem like it was my fault. Team members are all on zero hour contracts, if you don't fit in you don't get the hours. If the store wasn't perfect by the end of your shift you was made to stay behind without extra pay.
Store Manager in London South East, Greater London
Exhausting, unappreciated and to demanding employment
Long hours and very exhausting. Very much take take take and no give back. Very demanding, low hours budget, completely disorganised company. To many chiefs as they say. Pay was ok but for what you do needed much much more. Poor above management with no clue at how to manage
Store Manager in Folkestone, Kent
Can be tough, but rewarding
There is always something to do and sometimes there is too much at peak season, but Head Office and Area Manager are always available and supportive. The store teams are great and really pull together.Working at Cards Direct I've been able to learn how to run my own store.
Store Manager in Hastings, East Sussex
Unrealistic work load and no support from senior management or head office
Everything is great for the first few weeks however the work load is unrealistic for the staffing hours allocated. They pay just above minimum wage and expect you to work your days off and evenings for free to just get on top of the tasks. Minimum training given with the area manager coming in on your day off and changing the store around then get a phone call to say your not working hard enough. Not a professional company at all they dont ever supply toilet paper or hand soap as a store manager I was expected to buy. There is a strong culture if blame and no one takes responsibility for anything if your face fits your be ok if you dare to have an opinion or speak up your days will be numbered. Save yourself the bother and go and work somewhere else.
Assistant Manager in England
Terrible place to work
Higher up management are disrespectful and do not care about their staff. Bullying is rife within the company and they cover it up. The work they expected you to do is unrealistic for the pay you receive. Zero hour contract so if your face doesn't fit, you don't get the shifts.
