Insights into Care Concern Group
Areas for improvement
- General feeling of work happiness
- Supportive environment
- Inclusive work environment
Fast paced environment with lots of fun and laughter.
Team Leader (Current Employee) - Croydon, Greater London - 10 August 2022
I have been working for the Care concern group for just over a year and a half after leaving a previous management role in the care sector. I was welcomed with open arms and shown a 'family like working environment' where everybody was close and able to go to one another for support, this would be the case across ALL departments. The most enjoyable part of the job for me is making my residents day, whether that be through 1-1 time, group exercises or simply reminiscing with them. The job is hard and comes with alot of responsibilities however you are supported by management and other senior members of staff across all floors, but it is all worth it when receiving lovely feedback from family members and members of the community. There are lots of activities on a weekly basis and these are uploaded onto the facebook page so that residents families far and wide can see their loved ones enjoying themselves. Care concern group go above and beyond to ensure that residents are given person centred care specially catered around individuals needs.
Pros
Free meals and drinks
Cons
long hours

Great place to work
HR Business Partner (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 10 August 2022
The culture here is brilliant, I really enjoy working within this team. The leadership team are respectful and approachable from any level of the business, and it's great to be able to meet new people across the team. Care is a difficult sector and as a result, it can be a high pressure environment, but there's no blame culture and if you're prepared to work hard to get the best for the people and residents, your efforts are recognised!

A very supportive company with an open culture
Home Manager (Current Employee) - The Fleet Care Home, Dartmouth - 10 August 2022
I started with Care Concern Group in January this year and I have to say they have been extremely supportive. The open an honest culture they have makes me feel part of an inclusive team and not just an employee. The senior management team have been extremely welcoming and nothing has been too much trouble when I have been unsure of things. As a manager I feel listened to and valued which is extremely refreshing, other organisations could learn a lot of Care Concern Group when it comes to looking after their staff
Pros
Great Supportive team

I love my job!
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Penrose court, Biggleswade - 8 August 2022
I came to work at Penrose court following my first job in A&E. I was a newly qualified nurse and can say that this job is absolutely everything I did my degree for. The connection with the residents and their families alongside a good bunch of colleagues is what makes me turn up for work every shift. Management treat you as an individual and not a number, there is always someone to talk to if you need to and the support and development received is great. There is always training available as well as requested training. The home it’s self is beautiful and the residents refer to it as a hotel! Staff are supportive and caring and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Pros
Good management and training available
Cons
Pay could do with being raised a little.

Jobs at Care Concern Group
Fair work and fun
Maintenance Manager (Current Employee) - Sale - 5 August 2022
Amberley Care Home in Sale, Greater Manchester is a beautiful working environment. Each day brings its own challenges due to the nature of the job. But there is never a day I go home from work not feeling fulfilled and happy knowing I have made a difference to the lives of our residents, staff and visiting relatives. As maintenance manager, my job is varied, from fire safety checks to fixing a leak. Health and safety to general maintenance and decorating, the list is endless. The feeling of inclusion, working within a team all striving for the same goal. My job makes me feel proud and appreciated! Always happy to go that extra mile, as are all my work colleagues.
Pros
Job satisfaction, Good transport links, Excellent prestige working environment, Above average pay, Free parking, Helpful and supportive management.
Cons
Sometimes emotional, Long hours.

I have been with the company for over a year now. I have recently moved to a different department in the care home and I am really happy with my decision to take on a new role. We have a new Manager in post who is supportive, a team player, approachable, friendly and a real asset to the care home.
Pros
Beautiful surroundings to work in

Rewarding place to work
Administrator (Current Employee) - Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire - 4 August 2022
I have worked at Longbridge Deverill for over 5 years and I have progressed immensely since I started. The support and ongoing encouragement I receive from Management is second to none. My role is exciting and rewarding. It can be challenging at times, but for all the right reasons, I learn something new most days. At Longbridge Deverill I feel supported and valued as a member of the immediate team, as well as the wider organisation.

Same old
Senior Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Larkhall - 7 June 2022
Staff and residents are lovely, fast pace environment, shift goes in quick. Online training is overwhelming quite alot of modules. There is always something new when you come on shift, from the day before. Management do try and promote a positive culture within the home, but personally i do not feel they fully support their care staff and senior care staff. They always pull you up for everything that you have done wrong, but never pull you up to say well done on x,y,z etc. At times the home manager is not always approachable which is understandable, due to excessive workload. But sometimes you just want to speak to the home manager about something privately and not wanting to discuss with any other member of the management team. There is not a great deal of helpfulness with mental health for staff for example if management took time to speak to every staff member on a 1:1 basis (employee welfare check), I think this would help the culture within the home. As in previous work places i have worked this helped, and this was confidential and was a useful tool to use.

A great company to work for
Support Manager (Current Employee) - UK - 6 June 2022
Care Concern Group is a great company to work for. They have a good management structure in place to be able to offer great support, they genuinely care about their people, there is plenty of opportunity to develop as the company continues to grow, they embrace innovation and change and your opinion is sought and welcomed. Best move I made joining this company, would highly recommend.

Poor
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Hinckley, Leicestershire - 27 May 2022
Worked at the ashton for a few years residents are lovely and staff was great unfortunately I could not say the same about the management it’s all about the money and don’t care about the staffs welfare staff are over worked due to not having enough staff for the residents witch means there needs are neglected .The best thing I did was get out of the ashton. My work and home live balance is so much better.should of done it years ago think twice before applying

Overworked and undervalued
Care assistant (Current Employee) - Ashton care home, Hinckley - 27 May 2022
The care staff are friendly but constantly under pressure and overworked, such a stressful environment, staff are always phoning in sick, a massive turnover in staff. All departments are under constant pressure. No maintenance dept. You have to be a jack of all trades so that you can do work in the kitchen, cleaner, maintenance, server, and actor for when visitors arrive! Management constantly banging on about money and the care home being a business. Residents being neglected due to understaffing. Such a shame, the Business comes first and care second. So very very sad. Relatives don't see this as management cover this up well.
Pros
Free food, when there is time to eat it!!
Cons
Long hours and expected to stay on for longer. Constant pressure of begging to work extra shifts

Care Concern? Don’t Believe The Hype!
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Dartmouth, Devon - 6 May 2022
Care Concern? Don’t make me laugh. Sadly, all they care about is getting the money in! Poor management allowed constant back stabbing and nastiness to continue to the point of bullying, leading to anxiety and stress. Management had ample opportunities to step n and stop situations escalating, but did nothing, time and time again. Absolutely the worst company that I have ever worked for. (Dartmouth, Devon).

Awful place to work
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Sale, Greater Manchester - 30 March 2022
Staff turnaround is massive, no management. No teamwork, lots of bitchiness. Not one person I knew there was happy. That's why I left . They promise you free meals but your not allowed.
