depends on choices
Key Worker (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 12 September 2023
lovely staff and clients but managers do not listen, not worth waiting around a whole day to be paid for only a few hours as only paid for call time and with influx of staff they take priority, honestly wouldnt bother

Wonderful place to work
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Swanage, Dorset - 14 February 2023
I have worked for Agincare for over 5 years and have progressed in this time to my Deputy Manager Role. A Care Home is an extremely interesting place to work and I cannot envisage working in any other sector. If you wish to pursue a career within care, I would recommend working for Agincare
Pros
The residents

Positive and happy work place.
WORK HISTORY – support worker (Current Employee) - Earls Colne - 20 January 2023
Colne House is a very positive place to work. My manager is very approachable and supportive to the staff, the office door is always open for us. They are very good with what training we need, if staff ask for certain trainings this will always be organised quickly.
Pros
Accommodating rolling rota
Cons
No cons

Awful place to work
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Granton/Cramond - 18 October 2022
Management are completely non existent. Company is unable to retain staff due to this singular reason, but clearly do not care and are doing nothing about the situation. The home is beautiful, and staff are lovely, but you will receive no support from higher up, there is no career advancement unless you sell your soul. The money is not as advertised, do be aware. completely inflexible with regards to hours, and it has to be the only home I have worked in, in which they do not feed their staff during a 12hr shift.
Pros
stunning home, and lovely staff
Cons
zero management

disgusted
Domestic Assistant (Former Employee) - Llandybie, Carmarthenshire - 29 September 2022
the management are horrible and belittle everyone there. they talk about all the staff behind their backs and have nothing nice to say. they are two-faced and only act nice when residents families come in to visit. they are rude and do not respect any of their staff that work there. they need new management and i do not recommend working there. you will regret it very much. they do not attend to residents as soon as the buzzer goes off, they silence the buzzer and attend after 30 minutes.

Under valued and under paid
Activities coordinator (Current Employee) - Norfolk - 2 September 2022
Barely any training and minimum wage to deal with residents that need and rely on you so much. Poor management and no real care for staff. Staff are always stressed and don’t work well as a team.

Negative atmosphere
Support Worker (Former Employee) - North East - 7 February 2022
Negative atmosphere, felt more like a cleaner than a support worker. Would feel better knowing that the residents were encouraged to take care of themselves with support as they are able to do so, such as cleaning etc. And a more positive mindset with the staff would be better
Pros
End of shift.
Cons
Long hours and negative atmosphere

Long hours low wages
Cook (Former Employee) - Tooting, Greater London - 11 August 2021
Not an ideal career environment for a young person . One can only change employers but the end result is the same no career prospects. The care home setting is ideal for older people especially for those who have cared for family members
Pros
Yes
Cons
Long hours

Fun upbeat workplace and have experienced and developed lots of need skills from volunteering here
Voluntary Worker (Former Employee) - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire - 17 May 2021
In a typical day at the care home you just have to expect the unexpected and that’s what I love about volunteering there. It’s so enjoyable all of the carers are so supportive and inspirational . I have Learnt so much from this work volunteering and I have enjoyed it so much to point where I’m sad because I have to leave. The manger of the care home is very flexible with my working hours and this has been such a help to get as much experience and information and knowledge in. I personally don’t find anything hard in the job but I the one thing I do find hard is when a resident is going down hill and you start to build a good relationship with them or the do eventually pass away ; but each time this does occur I get stronger and can cope with it better.
Pros
Free food for lunch and dinner
Cons
PPE due to the pandemic and can’t be hands on with the residents

Shocking place
Senior Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Wolverhampton - 27 March 2021
Management and owners treat you like a second class citizen. They expect you to work without a break. They give favourite employees a pay rise, whilst everyone else is on minimum wage. The residents eat the cheapest food possible and the bedding is filthy, stained and torn. Work here at your peril, you won't stay here long.
Pros
Pension
Cons
No breaks, lazy staff and no respect from anybody.

Poor working practises
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Greater Manchester - 12 December 2020
Working with the elderly & with dementia should be a rewarding job role. Especially as they will be isolated in their own little world. To support, care & interact with them should be priority as well as looking after their intimate care & feeding. I loved working with the elderly & I treated them with dignity & respect at all times. Private care homes work with minimum number of staff on duty 24 hours a day. They are only interested in their profit margins & don’t give a stuff about staff. The government should insist on more care homes investigations & speak to staff about what really happens inside the care home, without reporting back to management who said what in the process.
Pros
You got a job
Cons
Poor pay long hours poor working practises

Cons

A very stressful and hard work with very little support.
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Pudsey, West Yorkshire, Red Court Care Home & The Grove Care Home - 22 July 2020
Very badly run care home by uncaring leadership. The care home is not a safe place for residents or staff. I would not recommend it to anyone to work there or live there.
Pros
Residents
Cons
Never enough staff to work safely and to provide good care to residents.
