We independently regulate care services for people of all ages in Scotland. We register, inspect and grade services, deal with complaints, carry out enforcement action where necessary and help services improve. We also inspect all Scottish local authority social work services, including criminal justice social work.

We carry out joint inspections too, with colleagues from other organisations such as police, health boards and education, to check how successful services are at working together to deliver the best support for adults and children.

We inspect the quality of care, promote best practices, identify ways that services can improve and support innovation.

In everything we do, our aim is to improve people’s experience of care, focusing on what can improve their lives and not simply on the services provided to them.

Used to be a good employer, less so now

Job work-life balance: It's almost non-existent. The unrealistic deadlines demand that you work outside of your contracted hours. Job security/advancement: There is little security for a significant ...

Stressful and disorganised
Management are not trained properly and regularly speak down to employees. Not a professional environment in the IT department. Nurses are doing IT jobs and have no idea what they are doing. Unrealistic targets. Wasting money on initiatives without involving key stakeholders. Communication is awful- many of the employees cannot write a simple email properly. Managers are biased and self involved. ...
