Work Culture
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Leamington Spa - 6 June 2023
Don’t care about staff welfare when I was there. Job was back breaking and no support from management. Team leaders were very horrible with discriminatory attitude . Team work was always a problem with some forming their own group of friends and family. A lot of pretence. Hopefully they have improved now.
Pros
Pay was fair, nice care home that I would have to loved to stay with.
Cons
Not supportive, letting good people leave without finding out the real reasons. Makes me feel bad.

Hard working staff and nurses.
Residential Care Worker (Current Employee) - Manchester - 1 June 2023
This company manages to go through a great many new members of staff. It's £1000 bonus on completion of training policy projects prospects, The reality however leaves a lot to be desired, long hours , poor pay rates and a some what toxic culture. The ground floor staff and nurses however are hard working and embrace looking after the residents in there care.
Pros
As of the above.
Cons
As of the above.

Good place to work
Head Chef (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 25 May 2023
Great company to work for, if you invest in them they will invest in you! You get out what you put in. If you don’t want to work hard don’t choose to work in the care industry. The company does recognise hard work and good work, you do get rewarded free meals, vouchers as a Christmas present, employee of the month award. Regional employee of the month, care uk awards, training course to develop in your role and progression within the company. As I said you get out what you put in. If you have a strong work ethic and a can do attitude you will and can go far. You must be willing to try to make a difference and go the extra mile it will get noticed.

Soul destroying
Senior Nurse (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 May 2023
I can’t begin to describe how undervalued I felt Junior nurses with only 2 years or less clinical experience promoted to senior positions. Experienced nurses propping them up. Dangerous culture overall. Turnover of staff ridiculous

Opportunity for development but no management support
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Reading, Berkshire - 22 May 2023
Working in Care UK can be rewarding but also distressing. There are many opportunities for self-development. Free food all day for all staff members. There is also short staff all the time and no management support.

Great work environment
Health Advisor (Former Employee) - Southall, Greater London - 19 May 2023
Ok place to work, the people you work with makes it a great environment but the pay is not the best and they don't value their employees that much. I worked there for 3 years

Well paid
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Frome, Somerset - 9 May 2023
Well paid Treated well Can be cliquey, but that’s the same with anywhere you work! Get a free meal on shift which is a real uplift. Sometimes there isn’t a lot of consistency as to which section you work in.

Compassionate and caring always a smiling staff member to great people
Housekeeping Manager (Current Employee) - Sidcup - 2 May 2023
I love the care home and residents. Staff have come along way working through the Covid pandemic was tough. Not just for the staff but the residents also not being able to see their family and loved ones had a big impact on their well-being. Staff took on the role engaging more with residents to boost their morale. The staff pulled together as a team and management also helped. I would say it made us as a team at Smythlodge really show what team work is all about.

Bullying
Operating Theater Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Plymouth, Devon - 30 April 2023
If you do things the wrong way and quickly so you can sit down and do nothing for the rest of the night and dont actually work then this is the place for you. Also if you like being part of a click which i didn't then you are singled out and up for all sorts of horrible stuff that is done against you .
Pros
End of shift
Cons
Start of shify
