Support is in plenty from the management and work colleagues. Life balance, happy with my pay package. I’m very happy working for CareUK.

On a typical day at work, in a different suite like every other day, Staff and colleagues support me throughout the day as I learn more on how to give better care to residents. Meal times are happy times, when some residents meet up in the dinning hall. Most enjoyable moment is when after assisting with personal care ,meals, and after an outdoor / garden walk activity , residents appreciate with a ‘thank you for all you do’ and a big smile. That makes me know I made a difference.

Pros

Break three times a day on 12 hr shift

Cons

Poor treatment

Management has favourites and can treat some staff very poorly. Leadership staff can be intimidating and rude. You can work hard but still be told it’s not enough. Real shame as residents and other staff make it a lovely place to work.

Extremely stressful due to being understaffed almost each shift and not feeling supported or listen to Very cliquey staff who single you you out if your face doesn’t fit ! Low pay rate Induction period was very rushed The best part off the job was seeing the residents

Free lunch

Cons

Great place to work

I have seen a lot of changes in my time here. Staff morale has been low but things are definitely getting better. Management is approachable and residents are always put first. I love working here!

Pros

Team work and opportunity to learn

Cons

The hours can be long

Poor

Care uk, you mean don’t care uk. Head office is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. They expect the world but offers no support but negative comments, all the perks that staff have had have now been revoked. They expect to put glass cups on a dementia unit and everything will be fine. Constantly changing the paper work and then when you do it the way they told you to. Few weeks later it be changed again and they talk to you like it’s your fault it’s wrong. They go into homes when management ain’t there to rip apart the home and management. Pay rate is shocking and the hours they expect from you we’ll kiss by to your family. Force you to take annual leave to benefit the rota system as they just employ loads of staff, take away over time to give to un reliable bank staff.

Pros

Every other weekend off

Cons

If no food is left you go without, long hours, untold amount of strss

Productive and fast paced environment.

All I can say is that if you do not enjoy working closely with people, have a passion for helping and caring for people do not attempt to work here. Because the job is demanding but can be very fun and exciting...You work with amazing staff and wonderful residents you can look forward to seeing everyday.

Pros

Free lunches etc...

Lovely place

Not too shabby... Long hours, but the income doesn’t compensates the stress. Free meal, nice management, and freedom to express yourself. My feedback says it all.

Pros

Free meal

Cons

Long hours and underpaid

Good team work , and excelent management

I had the oportunity to work with suportive and proffesionals. They always place you in center. Had access to lots of trainings and loads of rewards.Low payments but great sadisfaction regarding enviroment.

Interesting

If you get job satisfaction from working with the elderly, this is your job. But stay out of the staff politics at all costs as this can be quite a gossipy place.

Horrendous place to work.

Senior staff aren't very nice they like to remind you they are above you. To much work for the rubbish pay they are giving. Hours are to long. Breaks are to short. They just expect to much of the staff and half of them don't have a clue what they are doing.

Cons

Other staff

Lovely place to work

The people and management are lovely and very caring. However there is a lack of communication between care workers. But the job itself is very rewarding, getting to help people makes it worth it

Best thing of the job is the residents

Comes across as a professional and luxury care home once you start working there it soon becomes apparent this is not the case. The residents are promised the earth but their expectations do not live up to reality. Poor management, low staffing levels, favouritism, back standing amongst work colleagues. Some team leaders with zero experience in the care sector.

Good pay and working conditions.

This is a high end care home that is well run and maintained. They recruit well and offer excellent on the job training. This is a world away from the last home I worked in where we were alway short staffed mostly due to unreliable staff that often failed to turn up. When the number of residents increased, they recruited more staff per shift to deal with it. The residents are well looked after and the rooms and equipment are second to none.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Not close to a bus stop.
