Lack of support
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Lowestoft, Suffolk - 21 July 2023
Hard work, always short staffed. Very clicky, competitive between staff, offered support and it never happened. Residents were lovely, always happy to go that extra mile for them.

Poor company
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Scotland - 23 February 2023
understaffing is causing clients to not receive the quality of care they deserve. The reason for understaffing is due to very poor wage for the work expected. Care Uk is a greedy company that only want's to make money out of vulnerable individuals

Salary
Care Worker (Current Employee) - Worcestershire - 31 December 2022
Due to catching covid at work I was off sick. So I lost pay. If you have done any overtime in that month the company deduct it and pay you normal rate. Which I don't understand because you have already worked for it! Very appalling!
Pros
Nice staff
Cons
Short staffed, untrained agency staff, too much to say

Chaotic, non existent communication, training/shadowing/induction lacking.
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Oxfordshire - 18 April 2022
No induction or training before working with residents. No information given about needs of individual residents before working on new wings. Very short staffed and while some agency workers were excellent, some were terrible in their attidudes to other workers and to residents.

Awful management, no care whatsoever
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Horndean - 22 February 2022
The home I worked in was awful. The management didn’t care one bit about their staff or residents and saw everyone as a burden. They only cared about the money they were getting from their clients. Staff are overwhelmed, understaffed and overworked. Completely unsafe environments to work in with no support from managers. Residents either being delayed care or not getting care at all due to staff not having enough time or staff numbers to provide appropriate care. The only pro was being able to communicate and spend time with the residents when we were able to, though this was a rarity. The residents deserve so much more care than we were able to give, and are not getting half their moneys worth. I would not go back to this workplace or this role if it was the last option on earth, and I think had my time here been better, I would have a different opinion.
Pros
When able, spending time with the residents.
Cons
Awful management, unsafe working conditions, understaffed, huge toll on physical and mental health, not paid for overtime, no support from HR. Very b*tchy environment.

Not the best of places
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Dorking, Surrey - 3 June 2020
Would not work there ever again. Not much space for development in the job. 12 hour shifts made it difficult to see my family. I am glad I made the decision to change my job

Thank you for taking the time to provide your comments. Our aim is to ensure that residents living in our homes lead happy, fulfilled lives and this means that the central recruitment team is focused 100 per cent on ensuring that we recruit the right people with the right skills to care for residents. To ensure that we are providing the best care, we do audit a number of areas of our work to look at how we can do even better and this has contributed to us improving the ratings we have been given by the CQC to one of the best among our peers. Once again, we thank you for taking the time to provide your comments and wish you well for the future. Care UK Careers
