Most amazing company to work for.

It does not feel like going to work, I did not believe there was a care company that puts so much effort into the care home, they are very bespoke every item is of amazing quality, there is so much equipment for each suite, the food is amazing, it's like eating in a very posh restaurant, management are fantastic, very approachable, make a point of coming to see you,, regional manager visits all the time also makes a point of coming to see you, daily meetings with all departments, managers door always open,, I always feel fulfilled, able to spend time with residents, activities every day all day, all suites involved together, I love seeing the smiles from residents who give us so many compliments, Best company I have worked in 30 years working in care.

Pros

Having a amazing environment to work in where nothing is too much trouble.

Cons

Do nit get paid for breaks.

Unsupported by management. Little to no training. High employee turnover. Don't give bonus

Training is very poor. No support from management or staff. Annual leave given with no discussion. I learned nothing had to find information myself. Very toxic environment. Left on your own very early. Hardest part of the job is telling management and no one listens.

Pros

Residents and families are fantastic

Cons

Care for residents and staff poor.

Great company

I received so much support and the training was second to none. I started off as a carer in the community and progressed to team leader, leading a team of carers

Would not recommend

As with most large organisations, there are many cogs within the machine and perhaps I just encountered the worst of them.My experience with Care UK was incredibly negative, once I had actually been onboarded - which took almost 4 months from initial interview and acceptance of post. The management was neither supportive nor caring. The residents were not well cared for and the staff were mostly apathetic in their roles. I can only comment on my own experience of course, but if offered any role within this company, I would recommend that you consider it very carefully before accepting.

Stressful environment

Would only work here if you work well under stress and can manage to sort out problems alone , it’s a fast paced job with huge amounts of paper work besides the care aspect .

Pros

Get food while at work, can progress with apprenticeship

Cons

Stressful, no support from higher up and no work life balance

Hard working and rewarding job

Care UK is great to work for. Supportive team and rewarding job. I love helping all the residents and getting to know their backgrounds to have a better understanding of them. I think it's only downfall is the pay as we earn less than what others are paying and especially since the pandemic, it has taken its toll on staff as they are burnt out. If you really enjoy care, it is the job for you. I have progressed so much with them and hopefully will continue to grow!

Great place to work

Really enjoy my job and colleagues are great. Can be very busy at times but always supported by management. Pay needs improvement but that is true in the whole care sector

Too many bosses (with different views and giving different orders) and too many politics. Awful!

What an awful environment. Too many politics going on and no real support or compassion towards the staff. They're more worried about looking good on paper and covering their backs than actually dealing with the more important issues. Overworked, short staffed all the time, no retention of old staff and no respect overall. Preferential treatment towards some members of staff. Basic care delivered to the residents and that is all. No activities going on, not enough time to spend with the residents, always in a rush to do things as too much thrown at staff. The management passes everything down the line but never support or encourage.

Pros

Some of the staff and the residents

Cons

No paid breaks, free meals only for the staff that work 12 hours, no support, blame culture and toxic environment

Good place to work, long hours hard to manage with young children

The training was very intense as it was new home, residents lovely. Management approachable Long shifts normal for a nursing home, Sometimes the shifts were so busy I didn’t take a break.

Pros

Good team, and management. Very good training.

Cons

Long hours

Great place to work at

It was my first care home experience and the management made it exceptional especially the Clinic Lead! I was well supported and encouraged to further my career.Training routine is brilliant and there is always something you get to attend with fantastic trainers coming in from Head Office.I worked 48 hours a week, my choice, but if I did do extra time then there was never any quibble about paying me overtime.

Pros

Good support, Good training, Good MDT backing, Fantastic Clinic Lead!

Cons

They employed some bad eggs, but they never lasted long, as the management was too savvy, and had them moved on smartly enough

Negative

The management where bullies, if you where in their circle you would be fine. If you where not and had an opinion then they went out of their way to ensure your working life was an extremely negative
