Didn’t make it past the training
Health Care Assistant (HCA) (Former Employee) - Hailsham, East Sussex - 10 August 2023
I enjoyed the training but too many staff were not following their training techniques. Very clique place, unhappy staff. They do their best to put you off working there by complaining about the company. Hardest part of the job was seeing bad practice while shadowing staff. The most enjoyable part of the job was making the residents smile
Pros
Lovely residents
Cons
Toxic environment, witnessed bad carer practice

Stressful but rewarding
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Frome, Somerset - 10 August 2023
Most residents and staff nice to work with , though with staffing issues you can be pushed to your limits , so much work expected from you can have some extremely stressful shifts

Poor care standards and negative atmosphere
Care Assistant (Nights) (Current Employee) - Stratford-upon-Avon - 31 July 2023
Although the pay is good the general atmosphere at work is not a positive one , old fashioned out dated care is practiced when there is nobody official around the day and night staff do not get on with each other as the staff who choose to work in the day expect most of the residents washed before they come in this is not in the residents best interests and goes against everything I believe as a carer I try to promote independence and dignity
Pros
Pay
Cons
Low work atmosphere

Jobs at Care UK
The person who left this position
Head Chef (Former Employee) - Stroud, Gloucestershire - 26 July 2023
Your will be met will false promises. Unbelievably unfair workload. Expect to be working on your own a lot. It’s definitely a out of site out of mind outlook from management. The pay is good and the work life balance is good but that is where the positives end.

Amazing place to work
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 24 July 2023
Amazing place to work. Bloom Care provides care services for a range of needs and requirements, with both nursing care and residential homes options available. They provide care and residence for people with dementia, mental health needs, alcohol and substance detox, rehabilitation services, reintegration care, nursing care, and home care including rapid response emergency care for people who need help at home quickly.

Would not recommend
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Mildenhall, Suffolk - 23 July 2023
As with most large organisations, there are many cogs within the machine and perhaps I just encountered the worst of them. My experience with Care UK was incredibly negative, once I had actually been onboarded - which took almost 4 months from initial interview and acceptance of post. The management was neither supportive nor caring. The residents were not well cared for and the staff were mostly apathetic in their roles. I can only comment on my own experience of course, but if offered any role within this company, I would recommend that you consider it very carefully before accepting.

Lack of support
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Lowestoft, Suffolk - 21 July 2023
Hard work, always short staffed. Very clicky, competitive between staff, offered support and it never happened. Residents were lovely, always happy to go that extra mile for them.

Good
Carer (Former Employee) - Islington, Greater London - 21 July 2023
They are very helpful and good and very understanding, if you need anything they always support you in that, in any way that they are able to do it, which is good about it.

Residents make it worth wild, management don’t care
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Hythe, Hampshire - 20 July 2023
Lured in with all the benefits, a couple of months down the line you are left to fend for yourself. Management don’t care, just interested in numbers, a few serious issues brought up but nothing done. Your ok if your in with management or team leaders. One rule for one, one for another. Only good thing is they are flexible with hours. Over worked expected to do more than you should. Atmosphere and tension between staff.
Pros
Hours flexible
Cons
Management. Atmosphere.

Not supportive
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - St Ives, Cambridgeshire - 17 July 2023
I have worked for CareUK for almost 3 years and every suggestion, report or complaint has not been taken seriously nor is it followed up. Management are rude and do not care about your mental or physical well-being as will keep physically aggressive residents even if they draw blood from staff, which has happened to me plenty of times. I have been told that it’s not managements problems if someone feels unwell and they will not properly allocate staff after finding out someone has called in sick but will pretend to. Staff are not part of a union and never will be so don’t expect any benefits. The work itself isn’t actually that bad and some care homes are good but it’s the management that is the issue so can’t really avoid it lol
Pros
Free lunch (even if it’s tasteless)
Cons
The management
