Could have set rotas and better planning for people to get to work and pay could do with increasing and some benefits adding. Could do with getting rid of the paper rotas as well

Care work isn't easy but rewarding

I worked for Caremark for over 3 years and enjoyed what I was doing most of the time though can be stressful as work routine can change very quickly. I worked in the community on zero hours. I have left to work in a care home where I now have contracted hours and local to where I live. I find this works better for me as I don't drive and need a guaranteed wage to cover my monthly bills.

Shocking place to work

Still owe me over £1000 a year later. Do not work here unless you want to work for free. Working all hours under the sun. No support from management no support during working long hours with heavy work during pregnancy

Travel time not enough

The clients are all very nice and kind, however the travel time you are given to go from one house to another is very little and not enough. The salary is also not what expected.

Don't work for Caremark

A toxic company out for profit only. They do not care about their staff! They ignore availability, there is a culture of abuse from clients which remains unchallanged, unsafe working conditions, training is a joke, shocking pay, no benefits, unpaid overtime (not in lieu!), no support, you will lose your job if you request a safe working environment or a reasonable shift pattern. Awful employers, worst work experience ever!

Would not recommend

Awful work culture. Awful salary. Don’t care about the carers, especially those that walk. Lies on lies. Pay is horrid. Oh and there is no work/life balance whatsoever. Either you’re working all the time with no social life or they give horrible shifts that have lots of gaps.

Friendly , productive fun loving place.

I have had been working at Caremark for few years. A supportive and friendly staff to work with in the community. Can be stressful when no travel time between the calls.

Pros

Flexible hours & shifts to work around your schedule

Cons

No travel time between the calls.

Avoid this company.

Office staff ringing all the time to do more shift. Mileage doesn’t cover fuel costs.Work from 7 am to 10pm, only get 8 hours pay, due to not being paid travel times and breaks. Far to many breaks. Starts off ok, then new staff get better rounds so they look good, treat old staff awful. Manager not managing, office staff gossip about everyone not professional. Training not good, no work shadowing.

Cons

Not a caring company to staff or clients

Staff mismanagement

They don’t care about their staff especially “walkers”. The distance used in traveling from one client to another on “foot” is not paid for, meanwhile those that own a bicycle and car get paid for mileage traveled. The salary is ridiculous too!!!

Staffing issues cause it to be stressful

Great scope to be a good company to work for. However, staffing issues mean the burden of uncovered calls falls to care assistants, granted, ladies from the office are also out covering calls but you always feel bad for saying no to extra hours, get called asking to cover calls, even on your days off. Split shifts and awkward hours make having a good work/life balance impossible, you’re lucky if you can plan anything a couple of days in advance. Calls and rounds often get changed last minute and there’s nothing you can do about it. Whilst the money is good, you’re not paid travel time and what you get for mileage is barely enough to cover petrol prices.

Pros

Always plenty of work

Awful

Office staff are lovely, but you will be made to feel guilty if you can’t pick up extra turning your mobile phone off on days off becomes the normal as you will be rang and texted to cover shifts and expected to do so even if your on holiday, your pay is not as advertised and will barely be able to afford normal life as 50% of your pay will be you paying for fuel. You are only payed for time with clients so could work a 16 hour day and be payed for 6, you can apply for contracted shift pay but if they can’t fill your shift be prepared for them to take you off the contract without telling you and your pay will be massively decreased if you run over an appointment time you will not be payed extra so that extra 20 mins is free work definitely would not recommend the job is lonely and you will be left trying to make ends meet

Pros

Clients

Cons

Everything else

Positive Environment to work

Carers are friendly. Clients very nice. There are 2 different shifts which are morning shifts generally between 7-14.30 and night shifts 15.30-10. It is Domiciliary care, you give service in clients’s own houses. Pay is not hourly, you get paid according to the call time; usually 45min, 30min or 15min’s salary.

Pros

Always lots of shift opportunities

Cons

Pay is not hourly

Rewarding job

Can be long hours and quite stressful, but also very rewarding. Nice to build up a relationship with the clients, especially when you're the only person they see all day.

Pros

Plenty of overtime

Cons

Short staffed

Long hours lots of driving

Like the majority of Care Companies, they are strapped for cash and staff . They make lots of promises but can’t keep them , not on purpose, but the shortage of carers impacts on all who work there and their clients

Pros

Great colleagues

Cons

Long hours poor pay and lots of travelling time between clients

Cons

Long hours, little support from office.

Productive, flexible

Good place to gain experience in health field, calls on days off is a put off and unprofessional, giving you last minutes calls and if you decline the following week you won’t get much clients.

Pros

Training, flexibility

Cons

Inconsistent hours if you’re not a driver, calls on your days off.
