Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedUnpaid 1 to 2 hour brakes shift could be 12 hours but only get paid 9 hours. Rota keeps changing didn't know what you where doing next week. Thrers a unofficial point base system on Employees.it can stop you doing other work or changing rotas or if you get new uniform.it's ment to be Impartial and independent but only 1 member of management gets to Decide how meny points you get. It's like working for failed Dictatorship. Eg berlin wall falling in 1995 its only a matter of time. It's Like the Titanic everybody's jumping ship.
Pros
Free bus pass
Cons
Long hours low pay no social life no chances of promotion

Long hours and broken buses
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 31 May 2021
Work here if you want to drive buses with constant faults that are never fixed (some buses have had the same defects for over a year now), want to work with mostly lazy controllers in the office who don’t do anything other than talk about and berate others, and don’t even know where all the buses go - meaning when (not if) you break down, they have no idea where to send the engineers. You can also work with management who never get anything done, no matter how many times they’re asked, and generally are only worried about themselves and their finances rather than their employees - throughout COVID-19, when other companies weren’t giving change and prioritising contactless payment to keep drivers as safe as possible, this place said it would cost too much money to put contactless machines on the buses, and refused to even consider not giving change. Buses were also shared between several drivers each day, and the staff room became overcrowded, which led to the majority of drivers at the depot becoming infected with the virus. Don’t worry if you do anything wrong, nobody ever gets into any trouble here because there aren’t enough drivers to be able to sack anyone, nor give any serious warnings. The only positive is that the rest of the drivers are generally a nice bunch, and very friendly and easy to get on with, and some great banter is had, and good friendships made.
Pros
Colleagues
Cons
Long hours, defective vehicles

Relaxed and friendly workplace. Great team of people.
Driver (Current Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 13 May 2021
Started with no industry experience and was immediately made to feel welcome and part of the team. Training was great, very professional. A change in engineering management has improved reliability issues with buses and all management are supportive and understanding. Great team of people and a fun relaxed environment. Lots of hours if you want them.
Pros
Lots of hours, relaxed, friendly, flexability.
Cons
Non really. If your happy to drive a bus for a living!!

Good team of drivers, but let down by poorly maintained vehicles
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 10 October 2019
Found it sad to leave but I had too, and joined a bigger operator. There is a constant issue with engineering, buses constantly breaking down, poorly maintained. Not enough vehicles to cover for broken down ones. So expected to take defective vehicles out on the road.
Staff don’t seem to care anymore. The moral is low, due to the constant problems with vehicles. On a plus point it is a laid back company to work for. Not as regimental. I don’t even think a change of management would make it better. The company need to invest in some newer better quality vehicles to bring passengers back. Rotas are good ever other weekend off. But shifts are long & draining.

Pros
good knowlegde from counryside and local
Cons

Things are getting better
Bus Driver (Current Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 4 February 2019
I’ve worked her for a few years now. And I have to say despite the whinges & whining. I’ve never had a problem here. Management is better now, we have a manager who does care, and will try to help where he can. Things are definitely improving for the better. Rotas are good, every Sunday off, every other weekend off Saturday/Sunday which is rare in the industry.
I’ve worked at Stagecoach & First Bus, and these are definitely a better company to work at. Do your job properly, run to the timetable, drive safely, cash in your money every night & you’ll never have a problem.
Only downside is engineering, but that is the same wherever you work
Pros
Happy workplace, good colleagues, money good, every other weekend off
Cons
Engineering Standards

Leicester
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 13 January 2019
Very poor place to work there, no health and safety
Not enough training at all just give you three days training own your own for route learn and straightaway put you on route for driving
It’s un professional management
They don’t want you to training you professional way
Very poor place to work
Early morning you need to fill water in bus tank.
Which is not your job to do it’s engineering job.
Cons
Long hours

Great camaraderie. Very long shifts, dealing with upset passenger's due to missed runs
Driver (Former Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 10 September 2018
Family friendly hours? No,not at all. Long hours with up to 2 unpaid breaks per day. Buses breaking down and running late due to bad route planning leaving the driver in the firing line of the general public. Very stressful environment. Work and sleep with no down time.
All of the workforce in the same position which encourages a tight knit environment.
Pros
Collegues
Cons
Very stressful environment

Friendly, local bus company
Driver (Current Employee) - Leicestershire - 31 August 2018
Not a bad place to work. Get on well with most people. Management ok, better than some places anyway!
Prefer Centrebus to previous job with one of the big operators.

Avoid avoid
Employee (Current Employee) - Grantham - 29 August 2018
Bad management, forever changing rota's, and not informing the drivers. Always leaving the driver to get the backlash, off the customers, when services are late or not running at all. There recruitment ad says, family friendly hours, that's a joke. Rubbish buses, and a useless engineering team, they couldn't fix a supermarket trolley. Overall avoid this company...
Pros
None
Cons
Long hours, no family time..

Good place to be
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Stevenage, Hertfordshire - 22 February 2018
Centrebus is one of the more laid back less regimented bus companies in the area. The management are amazing & fellow bus drivers are a fun bunch to be around. There are some really long days and there are some duties that are a nightmare to get through, but its part of the job and you take the rough with the smooth, because like any job you may have one bad day today, but tomorrow you have a really good shift and it balances everything out. The company also offers a lot of good benefits too, including joining the union, free bus pass for you and 2 members of your family and also the public transport benevolent fund.
Pros
free bus passes and a lot of other benefits
Cons
some long hours and a few routes that can be stressfull
