Toxic Culture and bullying management

Awful place to work, they will have 2-3 drivers doing all the easy work while everyone one else will do the harder stuff and will have no family time to show for it. It's a toxic atmosphere where they expect you to do what they say or else, you can't even argue a point as they won't listen, when I was there they had a guy who had a heart attack and another who had a hernia. Both got rushed back and over worked and both had further issues because of it. They will now make you cover other depots for no money when there is other drivers getting paid more to do that role, horrible place so don't make the mistake of thinking the money is good because it isn't for what they expect of you.

Toxic Atmosphere

Worked at Certas for 5 weeks knew straight away I had made a mistake joining, very stressful and little to no training given, depot supervisor was more interested in nipping out for a strange smelling cigarette on frequent occasions, battered with work loads and expected to finish it all, couldn't wait to leave, stay well clear if I was you.

Good laugh

Good laugh with the lads but really behind the other competition in our area a specially with the age of the wagons if you get black marked they will find a way of getting rid of you.

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours rubbish management throughout the company

Relaxed

My role is relaxed, no pressure from management can be flexible if needing away early and can make the time up. Most staff are helpful if you need anything. Above the nmw paid at £9.50 per hour.

Avoid.

Overall: I recommend avoiding Certas Energy as unfortunately, they only care about profit (to a fault), and this is at expense of their employees on so many levels.Work-life balance:Simply awful. Worked here over 3 years and didn't see a christmas morning with my family during that time. Certas garages are often short-staffed and newbies / younger staff members are given the unsociable hours. You always end up working more than you signed up for - one time I went six months without a weekend off.Managers call you on your days off with no notice to come in and cover shifts and you are expected to say yes or you will be treated like a pariah. No consideration regarding shift delegation for employees who are also students - despite this being required by law.Salary/Benefits:Very poor. National Minimum wage to do the 4 different job descriptions while on shift by yourself (sales assistant, cleaner, deliveries/stock replenishment, security) No extra pay for working weekends or bank holidays.Night shift was FORTY PENCE extra an hour.Job security/advancement:Not the kind of place you want to work if you are interested in having a good career. No opportunities for progression unless you want to be an overworked and under supported petrol station manager... which no one does.Management:I don't say this lightly... Management in Certas Energy is very toxic. There are good people who work there too but they are few and far between.Managers often hire their friends/family to work for them, creating a cliquey atmosphere where they can play favourites.Job Culture:No one -

Pros

Retail/upselling/customer service experience.

Cons

Absolutely everything else. Avoid.

Company full of greed

They want to make money but won't invest back in the company wagons are not fit for purpose managers only care about getting their bonus and they don't want to give us a pay rise when drivers of skip wagons are on more than us

Terrible to work for

Terrible to work for with no compassion for mental health issues just try to work you to the bone and when you make a mistake even though you may be experiencing some short term mental health issues they don't want to listen and just get rid of you.

Pros

None

Cons

Stressful environment expect you to complete all of the work even when totally unrealistic to do

Stay well Clear of this Company

New Drivers are given are not given training structure to go off. They won't train you properly.Your expected to know it all within 1 week, They'll want new drivers on there own within 2 weeks. Your sent to some horrendous places, places you should not even take a tanker. No sat nav allowed which is a joke so you'll be using very old maps.Very old Tankers, none of equipment is new. You'll be made to drive a 17 year old manual scania with smashed gear box trying to find gears all day long.Fuel cards only work at certain places. No mobile phones allowed so if you have a break down and the incab phone isn't working your screwed. The terminal is so old it's falling to bits,Far to much stress for new tanker driver, You go home shattered and covered in diesel and kerosene Customers always moaning Not an enjoyable jobI lasted five weeks and walked Management don't want to listen Done my Class 1 a few weeks after leaving, driving 4 days a week Easy deliveries, Drive brand new scania and volvo No stress Love it.Stay well clear new drivers!!!!

Horrible management, toxic culture

Would never work there again, always someone else’s fault. Constant fight for weekend work and overtime. Promise you one thing and don’t follow through

Pros

Training provided

Cons

Pay not in line, management dislike drivers

Certas Energy

Bullying culture always with the threat of redundancy. Not a nice company at all.Always looking to hoodwink customers and do not take misogyny seriously.

Cons

Low pay and tricks played on customers

Productive and fast pace

Good challenging job with some benefits extremely busy in the winter but not so in the summer, can be extremely dirty especially delivering fuel to building sites.

Long hours, low pay, poor work life balance

Usually 16 hour per week contract, but expected to work way over due to high staff turnover.Lone working most of the time, with little support.Stressful environment.

Pros

Some nice customers

Cons

As review

Aom manger at thames depot is very confrontational and finds it hard to speak to people with the respect they deserve

The depot would run much better if he was not there as the atmosphere within the work force would greatly improve and productivity would improve vastly

Cons

Very unorganised at times

Poor work life balance

Went over a grass bank in a lorry to big to be at a particular delivery and was let go !!!! 1st incident!!! Don’t whatever you do work for them …………..

Pros

None

Cons

Poor management that lie to you

Productive workplace, generally friendly and collaborative team.

Intense pressure from sometimes incessant phonecalls, customers getting increasingly irate waiting to speak to someone. Stressful to try and complete tasks and own workload, before taking the next call.Team is generally very friendly and collaborative and managers will do their best to accommodate away for appointments etc. Bonuses and salaries do not reflect or properly award the work. Little or no chance for overtime, chace for career progression but salaries low throughout the company.

Pros

Friendly and helpful team, approachable managers who will genuinely try and accommodate and help with any issues.

Cons

Poor salaries and bonus.

A decent place to work

The shift patterns are a pain but not to bad , staff are easy to get along with management are brilliant in my particular garage , bigger problems with the forecourt should be addressed

Not a place to work

Never again would i work here, pumps always breaking down and constant complaining from customers. The only thing I liked was the staff I worked with.

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours

Good management, supportive with personal issues. Workload can be too much at times

Not a bad company to work for, could be better but also could be worse. Do the job as your trained and you won’t have a problem. Always short staffed. 8 hour contract but expected to do 12 hours a day every day. Most drivers would be happy to do 1 or 2 hours most days… but sometimes this isn’t even enough. The regular ones that do overtime seem to get more work piled on them while certain ones seem to get away with doing next to nothing. It’s a good job but needs to improve its expectations on the drivers.

Pros

Enhanced overtime rates, Supportive management, Monday-Friday shifts.

Cons

Routing extremely poor, Unrealistic expectations, Workload to much recently, Very old fleet of trucks, Salary should be a lot higher for the stress:
