Decent
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Tottenham Court Road - 12 November 2023
Worked in that store for about 6 months and I did enjoy working there. The place was welcoming, however, The customers were not exactly the best to speak to.

Fun place to work
Great first job (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 19 October 2023
Working in a CeX store it’s very fast paced and long hours. However, the people you work with are likeminded and offer a fun environment to work in. There will be difficult customers but it comes with the territory of your job. It does get busy fast so will have to work together to sort the customers out as quick as possible

fun but stressful
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Essex - 18 October 2023
the job is fun but you get a lot of abuse from customers. some of the items that customers bring in are horrendous, and expect you to clean it for them.

Nice people but not worth it in the long run
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 17 October 2023
Easy enough to work your way up and a good first job. If you are just starting out this is a good first job, or if you are young and want to get managerial experience, easy enough to work your way up. However customers are awful, you get threats on the daily and your mental health will go down. Lots of pressure all the time when doing the job.

Terrible decisions made by the team members in my opinion , I enjoy it on the first couple of days then everyone switched
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Waltham Cross, Essex - 16 October 2023
A typical day in that job was alright until you get hypocrites doing the same thing as you to be honest I didn’t learn nothing there the hardest day on my life was letting the manger there sign me in for them to be signed back out for using language everyone else does there’s nothing to enjoy about that job there all a bunch of hypocrites
Pros
Nothing
Cons
How I was treated

Good people, busy environment but worth it
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 9 October 2023
Some of the best training I’ve received, management really care about staff, minimum wage for what can be a very busy environment with a lot going on at once.

Nice people bad job
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 23 September 2023
Pay is bad work is long and monotonous. Errors lorded over you. Pretty relaxing once you have gotten higher in the company, but those who are expected to do the bulk of the work are mocromanaged

Sociable colleagues and good to learn product knowledge
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 22 September 2023
I am friends with essentially everyone i work with, a lot of us have nerdy interests in the products we sell so explaining it to customers is easy. Got a decent discount and borrowing scheme for staff members and fun company events

Busy
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Barking, Greater London - 20 September 2023
Busy and interesting to work but not rewarding. Limited opportunities. Management was good but don't waste time if you've got experience previously. Not the worst place as a first job but don't stay too long.

Micro management
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 16 September 2023
Always micro managed in what you can or can’t do. Not really given any sort of training either, expecting a lot for the money you get paid. The staff members there are ok but they also need to maybe take a shower.

Poor pay for stressful work
Store Manager, but worked as a Sales Assistant for many years (Former Employee) - Bristol - 12 September 2023
The job itself is fine. It’s a typical retail job. There are a lot of things expected of you that are WAY beyond your pay grade. You are expected to stay after your shift has finished to clean, and catch up on things that have been missed throughout the day. Sometimes you would end up spending 1/2 hours extra at work. This doesn’t just include one workplace, it’s almost every CeX I know. For a part time job this job is perfect. For full time, or management, please do not bother.
Pros
Fun, relaxed when it’s quiet, get to experience a lot of fun and interesting tech
Cons
Long hours, extremely poor management, awful pay

Stressful work environment
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 10 September 2023
Your colleagues will be lovely and you will have fun when your shop is quiet and the staff discount is good. However customers are often rude and openly disrespectful especially when trading items in, pay is horrific, training is virtually non-existent outside of the very basics and managers will play favourites with staff.

Do not apply
CEX - Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Barnstaple - 10 September 2023
This company is by far the worst I have ever worked for, constant underpayments and chasing wages, shocking management from area managers and above, no care from HR, the whole company is a shambles. No wonder everybody is resigning
Pros
Discount
Cons
Everything

Not worth it.
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 8 September 2023
I have no idea why anyone seems to enjoy this job. It has it's perks if you enjoy games, technology or media, but it pales in comparison to working any other retail job. CeX is a company in desperate need of restructuring, as well as a complete overhaul to their laughably outdated systems. I used to believe my previous company was outdated, and now I can't shake the feeling I may have jumped ship far too quickly without reading between the lines. I have received basically no training since day 1, and I'm fully expected to know exactly what I'm doing. The pay is quite poor for the level of work you have to do, and the fact that there are no bonus structures or any incentive to do better is insulting.
Pros
Half decent discount
Cons
If you are in a store that is lacking in staff, good luck being properly trained, No benefits whatsoever (that's literally written in my contract), Terrible pay, Gross/questionable customers

Lots of abuse daily
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Scotland - 8 September 2023
Hated every minute of it. Constant abuse from punters, the pay was rubbish. However, I enjoyed seeing some of the retro stuff people would bring in. Worked here years ago though so maybe it’s changed

Perfect
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 3 September 2023
Was just so great, loved every moment and never seemed to be a dull day apart from Sundays which I just loathe. The team make it the best in general.
