Property Manager (Former Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 4 December 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI left Chancellor's after a couple of months. I originally interviewed for a sales position, but they matched my previous experiences to a role more suited for me and offered me the position as a property manager. The training was not that great. You are expected to learn on the job, but if you make a mistake, it's blamed solely on you. My team was very helpful, Everyone has their own targets to worry about, but they tried their best to train me. I thought my experience was isolated, as while training, there was a manager swap on my team, and it has massively affected how I got on with the role, and how my training went. I can see now that almost everyone on the reviews page have the same experience. I also think property managers in this company are underpaid. At least have the parking for employees free. You are expected to be in your desk ten minutes before the start of your shift which was a bit weird for me. In summary, It was not for me.
Pros
I can't think of anything.
Cons
I listed cons above.

Extending probation as if it’s your fault for not being trained properly.
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Bracknell - 30 November 2023
You are left to fend for yourself after an hour of training each day. Too much gossiping it’s unbelievable. If you work for this company, never give any personal information to your colleagues as they will be talking about it while you’re on lunch or away. There is a good chance for progression if you kiss your line manager’s donkey.
Pros
Everyone does their work when regional manager is around.
Cons
You need to become a chav to thrive.

Don’t waste your time
Property Manager (Former Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 25 November 2023
Terrible company to work for. It’s a very toxic workplace. You aren’t thought of as an actual person or taken care of as an employee. Progression is extremely hard unless you want to sign over your soul. They push you to your limits and will destroy your work ethic. If you give this company an inch, they will take a mile from you. Don’t bother. They are also regularly ridiculed on Bracknell’s Facebook page for continuously hammering it with job adverts (that often don’t even have job titles because they are hiring for literally anything haha). I also found it ironic how they reply to their own employee’s reviews on here. You can’t even let past employees leave an honest review without sticking your two pence in. Embarrassing company to work for and I feel sorry for anyone that is sucked into their web.

Okay
Estate Agent (Former Employee) - Ascot, Berkshire - 12 July 2023
Fine but can feel very mean girl bullies so if you aren’t hard skin you can walk out of work feeling very down. Not a great environment, boring and had to make so many of the same calls a day

Great
Head of Client Care Process (Current Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 6 July 2023
I have worked here for 18 months now and within this time I have been given an abundance of opportunity to progress and expand on my skills. Management provide excellent support and have vastly advanced both my knowledge and experience. Within my first 6 months of the company they recognised my hard work and invited me onto the work incentive to Miami, which was great fun! A great company to work for where hard work is always recognised & rewarded.

Worse company I have worked for
Client Services Advisor (Former Employee) - Bracknell - 21 June 2023
I would strongly advise anyone against working for this company, the high staff turnover speaks for itself, you are just a number there and there is no real care for their employees and very strict and unrealistic targets
Pros
I liked some of the people I worked with
Cons
Shift work

Good Company
Group Associate Director (Current Employee) - Finchley - 21 June 2023
I have worked for the Chancellors Group for 36 years at the end of this month. It seems a lifetime yet I have enjoyed it and do enjoy it. The company is good and nothing is ever 100 % but you only get out of a job what you put in. Of course you will never agree with decisions 100% but I respect our Managing Director on his fair decisions and that is why I am here. The company is forever updating staff on changes in the market and training and even my 45 year plus experience you always learn new things. That enables you to carry out your job with more efficiency. Of course everyone would like to earn more money or it would not be natural. You have to strive in life to get on and progress and that gives you success and more income. I arrive 8.45 daily and am hear till around 18.30 sometimes longer but as I said you get out of any business what you put in. The company has changed over recent years, mostly for the better. My office is a market leader, the back up of head office, training of staff and the systems assist in this. I think my record view of the company speaks for itself or I wouldn't still be here.
Pros
Excellent Training

Interesting and varied
Lead Developer (Current Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 12 June 2023
I have been working for Chancellors for 36 years now. During this time, I have witnessed many changes in the IT world. One of the reasons why I have stayed with Chancellors is their willingness to adopt new technologies and methodologies. This has kept my career interesting and varied. Our team is relatively small, which means that we are involved in the full life cycle of a project. As the business is continually evolving, it brings with it fresh IT challenges. A typical day at work consists of daily stand-up meetings, help desk issues passed from second-line support, and project development.
Pros
Hybrid working, medical insurance

Fast paced and rewarding
Senior sales manager/Offer negotiation executive (Current Employee) - Herefordshire - 1 June 2023
Having worked for the company for nearly 19 years, I can say its fast paced, competitive and yet rewarding. I have worked as a senior sales manager across three different branches in the region and have recently moved to a new role working remotely from home. Success is well noticed in this company and they reward well both in commission payments and an annual company holiday with all expenses paid plus, they are in held in some top world locations.
Pros
Ability to progress and earn promotions. Uncapped commission structure.
Cons
Long hours but work hard and the rewards are worth while.

Worst organised workplace I’ve ever seen
Estate agent trainee (Former Employee) - Fleet - 1 June 2023
I was thrown into a branch where everyone previously had left and they expected me to run the entire branch alone. I was then fired after 6 weeks because of my “confidence” when how could I have confidence in a place where for the first month I had no manager?!
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Long hours, feels like a centre. Treats you like you’re disposable

Productive and energizing work place
Infrastructure Manager (Current Employee) - Bracknell Head Office - 31 May 2023
I have been at Chancellors for 36 years and during that time I have been mentored and encouraged in all the different jobs I have performed during this time. There is a warm friendly atmosphere within the company, and you always rewarded for hard work and loyalty
Pros
Good company benefits

Supportive employers
Deputy Team Leader (Current Employee) - Bracknell, Berkshire - 30 May 2023
I joined Chancellors Estate Agents back in June 1989 as a Lettings Negotiator based in the Ascot High Street office and after 4 years was promoted to be the Lettings Manager of this prestigious branch based close to the famous racecourse. After an enjoyable and challenging 16 years, as my personal circumstances changed, I took a step back in responsibility and joined the newly formed Central Admin Team based in the Head Office in Bracknell where I still remain to this day. Over my years with Chancellors I have been fortunate enough to be invited on High Achievers trips to the races, European cities and most recently to Las Vegas where we were spoilt by many events, shows and parties with no expense spared! Chancellors award their employees with ongoing training throughout the year and membership to industry recognised bodies, in my case ARLA. Also when you reach a certain level private medical insurance is provided and on top of all this, after a qualifying period your birthday is given as an extra day’s holiday and on milestone employment anniversary dates a gift from the Directors. I feel very fortunate in working for such a caring company for the personal support they have given over my employment with them.
Pros
Support and training
Cons
None

Great company
Associate Director (Current Employee) - Berkshire - 26 May 2023
I first joined Chancellors as a graduate trainee in 2003 as completely new to the industry and had also relocated for the position. Joining Chancellors appealed to me as they offered a structured career plan, opportunity to express my views and have an influence on the business as well as join a very successful and bust company. From when I joined, the training was brilliant from on the job training to courses run by industry experts and Directors within the company and has continued as my career has developed to management training and other advanced courses. I really enjoy working for a company who looks to set the industry standard and continues to be successful through technology innovation and great people. I also love that I am recognised and rewarded for my efforts and have been fortunate enough to have been on numerous rewards trips including skiing in France, a trip to Las Vegas including a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and jet skiing in the Bahamas!
Pros
Uncapped commission
Cons
Competitive

You need to want to be successful not average
Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 26 May 2023
Really tough and not for everyone. There is an expectation that you want to earn big money and be involved in both letting and sourcing new property. If you want it, the framework, support and training is there.
Pros
earnings and praise
Cons
not a coasting job

Great company offering clear progression.
Sales Manager (Current Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 19 May 2023
Good company to work for if you’re after a career. Great progression. Great benefits. Yearly trips. Quarter bonus is on top of an already competitive commission structure.
Pros
Uncapped Commission. Progression. Friendly environment.
Cons
Dependant on workload sometimes you can work outside your contracted hours to stay on top of work.
